Coming Soon! UNDAUNTED STORE

Per ESO Live today:

In response to the growing number of Monster shoulders in the Undaunted Chests, ZOS is setting up an "Undaunted Store" with Urgalag, Glirion, and Maj. Players can buy coffers that contain monster shoulders specific to a DLC or dungeon group.

COST: 5 undaunted keys

EXAMPLE: You pay Urgalag 5 keys for an "Imperial City DLC" coffer. Upon opening the coffer, you would receive either a Lord Warden or Molag Kena shoulder piece ... in a random weight and random trait.

PROS:
- Greatly reduces the amount of RNG for players that need a specific shoulder for their builds. This is a big QOL improvement.
- If you want a random monster shoulder, the option will still exist. Players would still pay one (1) key for a random shoulder from the three (3) currently existing Undaunted chests.

CONS:
- Higher key cost (5 keys).
- Still no guarantee of getting the specific shoulder piece, weight, and trait.

DISCLAIMER: Note that the full details were not given on ESO Live. Asking the OP for more information (that he doesn't have) won't do any good. Remember there is still time for ZOS to change specific rules of the "Undaunted Store" before Scalebreaker drops in early August. Finally, it was not explained (or shown) how the base game dungeons would be grouped together in the "Undaunted Store".

Obviously chance for proper weight is higher in 5 keys scenario, so this is good.

5 keys to narrow down the set is a very welcome change, especially if the current system is still basically in place.

My one concern was whether or not there will be a currency cap on keys. I suppose it wasn't covered in the ESO Live (I didn't get a chance to watch)

Another interesting side effect of account wide key currency is the ability to purchase low level shoulders at any point on a lowbie. They may have considered this and have the NPC locked out until level 45. If not, then you can have 2 shoulders each with a 1 pc bonus on twinked out lowbies.

As a set, that would be cool. I'd like to see the same with jewelry. Both the neck and rings come together for purchase.

    I'm not her, but just to quote the actual page;
This new update also makes it easier to manage your Undaunted Keys and provides more ways to spend them. With Update 23, Undaunted Keys are now listed as currency, meaning they are in the Currency section of your inventory instead of individual inventory items. Never again will you lose track of your keys! In addition, to acquire Monster shoulder items, you can now receive Undaunted coffers from the different Undaunted quest NPCs instead of using the chest in the middle of each camp.

Hmm. Mixed feelings about this. It does seem potentially nice for newer players who don't have a lot of keys but personally I have never had trouble getting the shoulder piece I need. Also curious why they didn't just add a fourth chest.

If you have the foresight to save shoulder pieces you don't have when you use a key, ultimately it still seems better to only lose one key when you don't get what you need instead of losing five keys when you don't get what you need. :p

Maybe I've been lucky with monster shoulders but I have had to grind much, much longer for weapons than I ever have had to for a shoulder piece.

My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

How? even wearing an full tinfoil helmet and breastplate I see no issues with this.

We get more DLC dungeons so its harder to get the right shoulders. This simply reduce RNG and makes it less important to store shoulders as you might run trough an high number of keys to get them later.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Yeah... The last two monster shoulders I wanted, it took me over 30 keys each, to get one of each and not even on the right trait or weight class. I would have about 3 of each with the 5 keys odds, statistically. About 1 of each weight, meaning with the same 30 keys off have, again statistically, exactly the shoulder I needed, since traits can be morphed.

I'm happy with more options. Those who can save items (aka hoard) can get 1 for 1, those like me that can't store trash, will get the 1 for 5 and make things a lot less frustrating.

Side note, between all my other stuff already hoarded, my mats and my misc stuff, I have very little spare room for undesirable shoulder pieces. It sucks to not have ESO plus, I'd have another 450 or so storage(mats in craftbag plus double bank)

This is gonna be wonderful! Second they mentioned it like "YAY!". :)

This will save us so much time really, especially if we are trying to get a piece of DLC shoulders. Dang RNG is officially going away, or at least being decreased a lot. This is just awesome, many many thanks! Looking forward to this. ^^

This is a good change. I've heard some horror stories with RNG and people going through hundreds of Keys without getting the pair of shoulders they wanted.

The Eight Divines be PRAISED! I've been hunting the damned elusive Mighty Chudan shoulders for weeks and weeks! IDK how many keys I've spent and TBH I don't even want to know. Maybe I should just stop trying for now and have some fun hunting dragons instead so I can get some more cash flow. Zenithar knows I need gold if I'm ever going to get my Pariah jewlery to Legendary status! Anyone else in the same boat?

You used to have to farm the monster heads and shoulders. I mean really farm, as helms were nowhere near guaranteed, and in both cases you were stuck with whatever trait you got, with usable traits having a much lower drop rate. Nowadays you always get a head in vet HM, and you can always transmute for a good trait.

At this point, why not simply allow these to be sold among players? I've never understood the fixation with "gotta grind for that gear". If someone grinds for it, or pays for it, it's irrelevant. You might say grinding forces you to play the content, but firstly I don't think that should be the incentive, and secondly, there's not much grinding involved any more with the guaranteed drops and transmutes I mentioned above.

Granted, statistically, it's not improving success chance hugely, but it might do a good job of suppressing flukes when people get a long unlucky streak.

To put things in perspective, suppose (with new upcoming DLC dungeons) we have 14 monster helm shoulders; each comes in three different weights. Suppose I want a heavy Lord Warden; my chance of getting it with one key as things stand now would be 2.38%, after spending five keys in a row I'm looking at 11.35% chance of getting what I want. Now, with coffer system I choose from two shoulders in three possible weights, and five keys yield me the chance of 16.66% - better than if I spent those keys on a chest, even if not radically better. Before Wolfhunter, coffer system would've given worse chances, and about equal pre-Wrathstone. All in all a positive change.
