Enjoy the game as is
But complaining about necro bash got results. So they do read. They just choose to ignore what’s not important to them.

Those EU peeps are really enjoying the game right now, didn't realize logging in was the game.
This phrase comes up every interview, Q&A or whatever of ZOS basically, for about an eternity.
By now there is no improvment. I mean, just look at the so called "Dev Tracker", 90% of those points is about some article on the website.
We are not even seeing some sort of a /lurk, which they tried some time ago. It is not a lot to ask for. It would be a bless to see that in a bug or balance thread.
Maybe keep an up-to-date list with all the current bugs and problems.
And what about the class rep thing? Last i heard from some ppl who are involved in that program, you were not even caring about a single thing they brought up.
It is just frustating to see the game degrading update after update with even less communication from ZOS.
Basically everything would be an improvement at this point.
I dont think it is too much to ask for us, the community, the ppl who play the game and care about it.
@ZOS_MattFiror @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom
Careful, if we complain about persistent bugs - we are told that the CMs don't come to the forums because all we do is complain, and point out that they don't come here to the forums.
But complaining about necro bash got results. So they do read. They just choose to ignore what’s not important to them.
This, looks how complains about maintenance fell a lot after they added estimated end times. What ZOS fails to realise is that most people do understand that issues happen from time to time.
What makes things 1000% worse is when you don’t communicate with your customers when issues occur and you leave people in the dark. There’s nothing worse than being a paying customer but not being able to get support when it’s needed.
Good communication could and would go a long way to alleviate people’s grievances
But alas we’re in this murky swamp, mired with technical issues since the last summer set, how many will be taking their business elsewhere whilst ZOS thinks it’s all running like clockwork?
If people stopped duplicating threads, arguing, smack talking and generally ruining the threads they would stop being closed."We want to become better at communication... By closing threads."
This is the realisation I came to a couple of years ago, I was much happier when I did. I kept wanting to make ZOS a company which did great communication, active devs on forums, weekly dev blogs about different things etc.Rohamad_Ali wrote: »They only say that when they want to sell you something . "We want to become better at communication"
Well then, start with some at all. Any will do, really.
Problem is, silence is a form of communication too. As the saying goes, you cannot not communicate. Silence is a way of saying "I don't want to talk to you". Loyal customers don't take it kindly, but hey, it doesn't matter, they are killing it, right ?
They are counting way too much on us not willing to lose our sunken costs...

So they very well might want to say something, however, the approval process for these types of statements could take too long, in the end, or the lawyers ultimately decide what is allowed to be said because, in the end, zos is a gaming company and they have to cover themselves from lawsuits just like any other corporation would. I don't like these legal restrictions put on companies but it's the day and age we live in, unfortunately.
There are some games journalists who have spoken openly about Bethesda's desire to control their narratives when it comes to the PR/Marketing side of their games.Strike_Maximus wrote: »Maybe the folks at ZOS wants to communicate but can't for some reason because of some kinda restriction. I think its more of an issue that starts at the top and goes down. Someone high up doesn't want anyone commenting on performance issues unless its very specific people at very specific times. What info on performance have we gotten over the last year? @ZOS_RichLambert mentioning it at the elsweyr reveal and then the thread from @ZOS_MattFiror that is currently pinned? Cant think of any other mentions of performance in the last year, and i dont think either of those two examples mention pvp performance at all. I think this issue is black listed until they can fix it or til the game shuts down. With some exceptions of course.
And this is the wrong way to go about it, 100%. Something is wrong with this company. Someone is making bad choices. It seems like certain people want to communicate but they just dont. @ZOS_RobGarrett for example. Im going to put his first forum post in a spoiler below. Titled "hello from the lead game play designer" from just about a year ago.Hey everyone!
I just wanted to take an opportunity to introduce myself here on the forums. I'm the Lead Gameplay Designer on ESO, overseeing the Systems, Combat, PvP, and User Interface teams. Some of you may have seen me on ESO Live last month. I was a little nervous in the beginning of the show if you couldn't tell. =P
I've been working in games for 15 years, most recently having spent 7 at Riot Games working on League of Legends and several smaller games in the LoL universe. I joined ZOS in January and started playing ESO about a year ago. Obviously many of you have been playing the game much longer and have acquired a wealth of knowledge and expertise during that time. ESO is a huge game, and I won't claim to have the same depth of knowledge as someone who's been actively playing since beta.
I do, however, play pretty much every day (I recently switched from PC to console to get better visibility into that experience) and scan the forums and Reddit when time permits. I also lean on the knowledge and experience of the great teams and people here at ZOS who've been hammering on ESO for about a decade. To be clear, my role here is less about making specific changes or improvements to the product and more about helping our teams improve how we work and communicate, both with each other and with you - the players. That being said, I'd be lying if I said there aren't specific aspects of the game I'd like to improve.
My intent is to start posting here on the forums more regularly and, in time, provide more insight into how we think about Gameplay design. My days are already pretty busy (it turns out shipping an update every 3 months leads to a pretty aggressive development schedule!) but I will engage when I can. I'm also certain Gina will find opportunities to poke me for a response.
ESO is a great game. I wouldn't have joined the team if I didn't believe that, and it's exciting to have a hand in shaping the game for the coming years. I'm happy to be here and am looking forward to hearing from you!

He has made 2 of his own threads here, total, and commented about 20 times since he made that thread. The last one back in january. He sounded hopeful to start communicating more but it doesnt seem to have gone as planned. I wonder why that is (and thats not sarcasm, I honestly do). It just seems like they are either not allowed to comment on certain issues, or the general consensus from everyone at zos is to not comment on certain issues. Either way it sucks.
And on another note he says he plays on console now to get a better experience of how it is for us. If thats true then they have to be aware of how bad it is, especially in cyrodil, and thats depressing. But I would love to see him stream some pvp sometime 🙄
That said on a less tin-foil hat and cynical side, I did speak with Rob at an event about commutation and he said one part of it with the forums is they take time to check what's being said is correct before it's said, as they don't want more cases of Dev A says one thing and Dev B says a different thing.
Additionally they want to be careful what's said as we as players will examine every post with a microscope, so if something doesn't say what they want to say clearly, we're going to pick it apart and find other things and then go full drama llama.
(obviously not his wording, using my own)

That would be fine by me but why not leave a /lurk or /seen threads they have read. Or just give devs a function to mark these.
I dont mind if they dont write a 3 page long answer to everything that comes up.

I can understand that. More often when talking about having a "dev tag" to show a dev has seen an issue. However once it's seen, and it's not fixed (because of whatever reason), people start screaming now that they note things and never do anything about it.
They can't really win unless they are fixing every bug and solve performance issues, not with everyone at least. I do agree though that for many of us just some more information and updates on what's happening would be nice.
I know that Gina was at one time working on getting an hour a day into her schedule to go through the forums and acknowledge threads, however that was before the class rep programme which also landed on her desk to deal with, so whether she has the time any more who knows.
Last I knew was that the social media accounts were run by a single person, so they're more active/focused. The forums replies are handled by mainly two (now three?) people in Gina, Jess and Sarah.I can understand that. But two points stand out for me:That said on a less tin-foil hat and cynical side, I did speak with Rob at an event about commutation and he said one part of it with the forums is they take time to check what's being said is correct before it's said, as they don't want more cases of Dev A says one thing and Dev B says a different thing.

- Saying the right thing can be addressed by defining a hierarchy. You have community managers and product managers. The former should be the mouth, the latter should authorize what is said. On urgent issues it should be possible to run things through these hoops with minimal delays.
- What Rob said doesn't account for inconsistencies we've seen, such as things being communicated via Twitter but not the official forums (I, for one, don't use Twitter, and don't want to), or more information being offered on the German forums than on the English ones, making that information harder to find and in many cases impossible to understand due to the language barrier.
The fact remains, in my opinion, that ZOS simply don't put the necessary resources into their communication. I honestly don't care why. In the end, only the results matter.
