"We want to become better at communication"

This phrase comes up every interview, Q&A or whatever of ZOS basically, for about an eternity.

By now there is no improvment. I mean, just look at the so called "Dev Tracker", 90% of those points is about some article on the website.
We are not even seeing some sort of a /lurk, which they tried some time ago. It is not a lot to ask for. It would be a bless to see that in a bug or balance thread.
Maybe keep an up-to-date list with all the current bugs and problems.

And what about the class rep thing? Last i heard from some ppl who are involved in that program, you were not even caring about a single thing they brought up.

It is just frustating to see the game degrading update after update with even less communication from ZOS.

Basically everything would be an improvement at this point.

I dont think it is too much to ask for us, the community, the ppl who play the game and care about it.

There's really no point, to be honest. Even when they say "we are looking into it", "we are aware", "it's a priority" it doesn't mean anything.

It's not even funny. Everything they say is some kind of PR talk with little to no value.

And then their routine of fixing issues in this game is just awfully timed. Basically, we wait ~3 months for some issues to be fixed. The incremental patches are just tweaking, nothing more. But during those big 3 month patches while some issues will be addressed, many other things will go down or break.

So effectively they are piling up more bugs with no time to address the issues.

"We are looking into it" gives no hint how much time or effort they put to the issue.

"We are aware" does not equal "we care".

"It's a priority" - well, even "least priority" is a priority, right?

Looks like PR is the art of kiting around criticism and unwanted truth.

You know what they say, no answer is also an answer.
    Politeness is respecting others.
Courage is doing what is fair.
Modesty is speaking of oneself without vanity.
Self control is keeping calm even when anger rises.
Sincerity is expressing oneself without concealing ones thoughts.
    Honor is keeping ones word.

It would be almost "hilarous", but there are a lot of companies which get that point just right...

My EU account has been completely stuck soon for 4 months, support informed me they are aware and investigating it, finally I asked a very clear question what's their plan to fix my account, next day the day before Elsweyr arrived no answer and I just closed my ticket. That was my deadline for getting even some some plan and trust that something is actually being done for my account, because of this I didn't preorder Elsweyr even I wanted to, same time the moderators are very fast and motivated to close threads and remove nonconstructive comments no matter how much truth there is.

Many loyal customers are getting extremely annoyed for a reason and leaving the game all the time. Just wake up finally and start actually doing something instead of being aware and looking into something. If Zenimax doesn't want to invest in ESO financially anymore other than creating new dlc and stuff for the crown store while the game performance goes worse all the time, then be honest with that and tell how things are, people aren't dumb and cannot be fooled with the same phrases forever to create some illusion of better future for ESO.

Now the traditional Cyrodiil style lag has conquered the whole Tamriel while many long term problems are still around unfixed, what will the next huge problem be, perhaps most players get the same log in problem I have, accounts will be investigated for months and most cannot log in at all, would it be fine then like in my case I wonder...

Well then, start with some at all. Any will do, really.

Problem is, silence is a form of communication too. As the saying goes, you cannot not communicate. Silence is a way of saying "I don't want to talk to you". Loyal customers don't take it kindly, but hey, it doesn't matter, they are killing it, right ?

They are counting way too much on us not willing to lose our sunken costs...

Careful, if we complain about persistent bugs - we are told that the CMs don't come to the forums because all we do is complain, and point out that they don't come here to the forums.

To be fair, its a low bar......

I'm guessing better communications is a cost on a spreadsheet and apparently one they don't want to pay.

In fact most things the players want are a cost somewhere and it seems in recent times the only things they implement are the ones they can charge back to us in the crown store.

Here is a hint ZOS, player goodwill does cost, not always money but it does cost. While its there we'll swallow a lot but once its gone things fall fast.

The worst thing is that if they'd actually invest in player happiness I would then see this game still being around for a long, long time.

Even this phrase sounds like PR one. It reminds me of liberal post-democracy most of us have in our countries, when democratic institutes exist, but don't work as they suppose to. Quite funny, that even in game development, when it comes to dealing with the community, the situation is quite the same. As it was ones said: "It is not the consciousness of men that determines their being, but, on the contrary, their social being that determines their consciousness."

At least we can count on @ZOS_GinaBruno to come through on some crown store communication.. In about an hour after the thread was made.. Not bad.

And keeping with topic of communication, heres a lovely quote from november of last year.

Hi everyone. First of all, you aren't wrong. We agree we haven't been communicating as much as we should on this matter (among others) and for that, we apologize. There really is no excuse.

    No, there is no excuse.

Their best line of communication was in the new TOS. Basically excused themselves from having a failing, broken product by self-acknowledgement. Gotta think writing that one felt pretty good. By the way, if our game doesn't work, so sorry.

If they continue with this incompetence and lack of communication this game will die within a year.
However if they actually begin to care and fix the lag or hire a contract dev team to fix the lag, this game will last another 10 years.

What ZOS fails to realise is that most people do understand that issues happen from time to time.
What makes things 1000% worse is when you don’t communicate with your customers when issues occur and you leave people in the dark. There’s nothing worse than being a paying customer but not being able to get support when it’s needed.

Good communication could and would go a long way to alleviate people’s grievances

But alas we’re in this murky swamp, mired with technical issues since the last summer set, how many will be taking their business elsewhere whilst ZOS thinks it’s all running like clockwork?
