For PC players, as others have mentioned, you can just use ESO Logs and inspect your groupmates gear afterwards. Nothing they can do about it, you will see the exact traits and enchants and whether it is blue, purple or gold. Basically everything you would like to know. :)

Nah. Copy and pasting someone else's build is way more "casual" than putting in the time and effort to create your own. It's also a lot more rewarding and fun knowing that something you came up with performs well. I don't have my build in ESO all figured out yet, but there have been times in other MMOs where I've spent MONTHS coming up with a build that was perfect for me. After doing all that, having some random person come over and copy-paste my work with zero effort on their own part would honestly *** me off.

Im wearing 2 5 piece sets with traits and a traited monster set, all enchanted. I have max cp all spent in nodes, and I use class skills and weapon skills on my primary and back bar. I have skill points put in passives including racial passives. Oh, and I run a mundus stone. My builds have health, magicka and stamina.

Here is a list of all sets in the game to get you started. https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/All+ESO+Sets+Alphabetical

Just found out this old thread years ago

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/179366/any-way-to-inspect-other-players
The list of BASIC MMO features that Zenimax decided weren't needed, is huge.

    Its ridiculous.

I know this is their first MMO, but these things are just common sense.

It just doesn't feel like an MMO without these features, it feels like a single player game.

Its a shame because this could have been a great MMO, but right now its just, meh.

FFxiv, even with its monthly sub, is still a much better game.

Bethesda should have used an experienced developer to make ESO. They have lots of development houses under their umbrella after all.

I'm 50-50 on something like this. I wouldn't care if people had the ability to view my own personal equipment or track my dps in real-time. What I do care about is people using these tools to berate and bully others. I've seen that kind of toxicity in Neverwinter.

As others have pointed out, this kind of feature would simply cause even more toxicity within the community over flaming people who don't use Meta setups. If you really want to know what gear someone is using (which - again, has been pointed out multiple times - makes up only for a fraction of a person's build), what's stopping you from simply asking?
I know you haven't asked this from me personally (probably because I haven't wrecked you in PvP, which seems to be the underlying reason as to why you want this implemented ;) ), but I'll be nice and list the gear I'm using on my characters.
MagDK: Zaan, Elf Bane, BSW, Maelstrom Fire staff
MagSorc: Ilambris/Maw of the Infernal/Molag Kena, Julianos, Scathing Mage
DK Tank: Thurvokun, Yolnahkriin, Green Pact
Stamblade: Velidreth, Viper's Sting, Sheer Venom, Maelstrom Bow
    Magicka Necromancer: Nerien'eth, Moondancer, Necropotence
StamSorc: Engine Guardian, Automaton, Mechanical Acuity
StamDK: Spawn of Mephala, Swamp Raider, Poisonous Serpent
Magblade: Slimecraw, War Maiden/Lich, Spell Strategist
Stam Warden: Balorgh/Selene's, Blood Moon, Tzogvin's Warband
Warden Tank: Stonekeeper, Frozen Watcher, Aegis of Galenwe
Mag Templar: Valkyn Skoria, BSW, Innate Axiom
Warden Healer: Chokethorn, Jorvuld's Guidance, Combat Physician
DK Healer: Symphony of Blades, Eye of Nahviintaas, SPC
Sorc Tank: Mighty Chudan, Livewire, Hatchling's Shell
Mag Warden: Iceheart, Winterborn, Icy Conjuror, Maelstrom Frost Staff
Stam Templar: Domihaus, Dreugh King Slayer, Alkosh
Now, there you have it. All the gear I use on my characters. Does that tell you about my playstyle, what content I play, or anything about the rest of my build (CP, skills, rotation etc.), AKA everything else that makes a working build? Yes, it might say a little, but not nearly enough to make you perform the same way I do with these sets.
If you want to copy-paste a meta build to use, go to one of the various websites that allow you to do that, or work out a build that works for you on your own. Just knowing someone's gear won't give you the edge you're looking for, and will only result in toxicity.

No thanks. At least now people *usually* wait until they see how someone performs before vote kicking them. Usually. With gear inspections it would be a whole new category of assumptions and vote-kicks. That crap made DDO grouping a bad, horrible, toxic thing, impossible for new players to get in and learn. ESO doesn't need more ways for people to be crappy to each other, it has plenty of tools for that already.

Inspecting other players? As in, inspecting gear and maybe even abilities?
No, that is not in the game and thank goodness for that.

To you, maybe. But things like inspection features are far from 'common sense' additions as far as most people are concerned.

    SirGreenDay wrote: »

I disagree here, it verry distinctly feels like an MMO to me. But at the same time, I can usually play it like a solo game if I so wish. But isn't that the point? ESO was originally built to be akin to a hybrid-like MMO, trying to bring forth two vastly different audiences. That, or they simply tried to create an MMO that is distinctly different from the rest of its counterparts. In either case, I applaud them for at least attempting something different in the somewhat stale MMO market.

More power to you for having a solid opinion, but many players think of this game as being a great MMO already. If you love FFxiv so dearly, you are more than welcome to go play it. But if you insist on staying, might I suggest constructive criticism instead?

    I don't understand the negativity.

Games I have played that have had it always have a Privacy option if players don't want their gear to be known.

When you are running dungeons, or dolmens, or trials, or just running, it's not really a simple thing to have a chat conversation.

    What's the big deal?

    :#

The problem is that the act of enabling the privacy option will be used against you, at least in PvE.

I've never had a problem with discussing my gear with PvP players, in fact I enjoy talking about it. The problem is that some PvE players get really weird and hostile about gear. Whenever some pug asks me about my gear at the start of a dungeon, I know that it's a bad, BAD sign. I'll reluctantly tell them what it is (Necropotence + Mother's Sorrow), but I have NEVER had a good experience with those players. They're the first to gripe and whine at any setback. Those types will blame anyone but themselves for failure. They're very exhausting, and I don't think anything should be added to the game to encourage their anti-social behavior.

maybe because when i see 1 player doing well in a group dungeon or in battleground, i want to understand what kinda of gear he's using, what kinda of enchant he's using, ...

Should i ask for an information and wait for an answer (maybe not what i'm looking for) when 2 clicks solve this ?

You wouldn't get enough information. You would know the sets, the enchants, the traits, but not the active and passive skills, the morphs, the food buff and the actual rotation. You would simply gimp yourself while trying to copy that gear. If you want to chase the meta so much, start doing your research in this forum, and on the theorycrafters' sites. If you don't know where to find that information... "you are not prepared"

There's a massive difference between asking bc you want to know what they're using to be so effective and demanding to know in order to deem people worthy of your presence. I'll happily oblige if someone asks what I'm wearing since I'm doing well vs demanding to know in order to judge.... In which case I'll reply "Ruby ash ice staff of magicka"

    1. I only need gear,
    2. I don't want to check passives as i can take them all.
    3. for skills i can just check esologs (pve) or combat metric log to see what skill was used against me in pvp.
    4. The food is available under buffs (not many good food buffs btw as many are same with different names)
    5. the rotation can be deduced from 3 (only for pve)

and as i said i'm not an elite player, so this is not intended for kicking others because of their gear but help me get the info about the good gear to be used in pve but mostly in pvp

While gear certainly plays a role you will find player skill trumps everything by a great margin in this game.

Regardless, Zos stated before this game launched they did not want gear inspection in this game. You will have to google and do some searching to find their comments from over 5 years ago to discern reasoning, but it was said.

No I don't want anyone to know what gear sets I'm wearing not that's its a big secret anyone that digs deep enough on my Xbox profile could find a video of what im wearing and theres only a handful of meta sets people wear if you know what class they are but to allow random people I don't know to inspect my gear is a no from me most of the time if people ask ill show but other than raid leads people don't need to know what I'm wearing.

OH, i see now, you just want a list of ALL the the armor and weapons both craftable and the ones droped so you can wear the sets ands know all about what eso has available?
not a problem, heres a link to all the sets made and crafted sand droped in the entire game.
    https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Sets
    heres another one
    http://tamrieljournal.com/crafted-item-sets-eso/
im sure that should cover all of them.

but if you are referring to what people wear personally and looking at them and inspecting them, then thats an entirely different situation and that's privacy.
just ask, if they don't tell you then that's their right, and i'm darn glad because i like privacy, and thank you zenimax for giving us that option.
i personally hope they NEVER put an "inspect" option in eso.
    and yes, i'm serious.
