Most of these posts are from the same people that complain when their cable goes down for a while because someone crashed into a telephone pole.Meanwhile, all around the world, people are going to bed on dirt floors after haven eaten the bowl of rice they were able to afford for the week....seriously...we should all get a grip on reality and stop whining about the small stuff like this.

Server shoulda been shut down a few days ago.
I just hope that patch 1.0.3 is deployed, there are so many issues, especially in coldhaurbor that need to be fixed.

Why aren't you reading a book? Rather sit in these forums and troll people who are already upset? Nice. Really. Good job.

Did you even, you know, read the link you sent? They just posted that to let us know it's coming down for maintenance. It's emergency maintenance - they are going to try to fix the problems.

People - Stop acting like this is scheduled maintenance and that they are just out to get you...

Go read a book or something, seriously.

This is Kindle right? These frustrations, QQ, Nerdrage, and jokes are interesting..better then any book I could be reading..

Such a typical thing... Oceanic players have this issue on a Friday night at 10pm and get absolutly flamed for it. but when it affects American gametime on a Saturday... its absolutly ok... such backward thinking imo.

I never flamed anyone from the Oceanic servers for being upset. In fact, when my wife told me she read on Facebook that the Oceanic servers were down, I said, 'Oh man that sucks for them'.

I disagree, this is a saturday night and i want to play what i paid 200 dollars to play with my wife.

Exactly, it's the timing that is the issue. Also the lack of an ETA.

I'm guessing the Einsteins that are complaining about the servers coming down somehow AREN'T getting 15-30 minute zone load times. But I guarantee if it WERE affecting them, they would be on the other side of the tracks calling for an immediate fix! "A little lag" is having some abilities fire off a few ms after they are supposed to.

THIS is broken and needed immediate action. Waiting "a few hours" until it's a little more convenient for a few people would be a slap in the face of the multitudes of people who had no functional access to this game at all.

Thanks for the maintenance - hopefully it works as intended!

As an Australian player, I'm finding this to be amusing, actually.

I mean, when the Australiasian player base is inconvenienced by a regularly scheduled maintenance that is going to occur every Friday night, the North American players are of the opinion that because it doesn't affect them (as it is Friday afternoon, when most of them are at work) it's all wonderful and sunshine and that the Australasian players should be grateful that we are even allowed to play the game in the first place.

However when an emergency maintenance that needs to be done to fix critical issues that are affecting the entirety of the game occurs during the North American peak Saturday night gaming time, it's all frothing at the mouth with rage and bashing their faces on the keyboard until an angry forum post comes out.

I do hate when they have no ETA, I would rather them say something like 5-10 hour maintenance rather than nothing at all...that way I know whether to go to bed or stay up...

Agree, an ETA would be helpful so that I know whether to hang around or go to bed. They have given them in the past, so hopefully one is on its way.

We've brought down the NA megaserver in order to address some of the issues players were running into tonight.

Good to see the clarification, but I am pretty sure the people making these foolish threads knew this.

Although I have not been affected (probably because I have no alts), I hope the bank problem gets fixed. That will cost some players soon.

I hate to point out the elephant in the room. But I had no problems with load times, logging in, or anything else. All they're fixing is making everyone go to bed with probably a 8 hours wait, then viola the problem with "lag" is fixed. No one will be on. :)

I work in IT, and when there's an issue with my servers, something goes down, and I'm in the middle of the crap and some manager comes to me and says 'What's the ETA?' I feel like punching them in the throat. The servers are down for EMERGENCY maintenance. They'll give you an ETA when they know themselves, right now they're trying to stop the bleeding and figure out the fix.

The timing is what it is because the issues - which from the posts we've seen extended to lost items, lost skill points, and access to other peoples' characters - went well beyond lag and long load times; taking it down before the problems have a chance to snowball into something more damaging is the right move, because a few hours of lost prime time is nothing compared to getting nailed by a day+ rollback because of a corrupted database.

"Oh my god, dis lag, fix your game Zeni"

    "Omg maintenance?? Wtf Zeni"

If the idiots designing this game had done their jobs to begin with they wouldn't be receiving either complaint.

I can understand some early bugs when a game goes live, but this just absolutely ludicrous. After the half-arsed quote-unquote 'Beta Test' Zenimax did (a couple of stress test weekends = intensive beta testing, apparently), I'm not remotely surprised at this influx of problems, and more than happy to point out it's all due to Zenimax's totally idiocy.

Seriously, I get that it's their first MMO, but come on - I've NEVER made an MMO and even I know that you need more testing than what they gave this thing before throwing it at us.

Stop talking from your backside the brown stuff is coming out.

I was on BETA testing since last year and they did PLENTY of testing plus internal testing on top of that and a core group of testers as well. Some things don't get really noticed or fixed in priority order. Server stress load testing appears to have been a focus the last three BETA weekends. (No I don't work for them) They fixed A LOT of things from those stress tests. Last few MMO's that release folks couldn't even login for HOURS... (I repeat) HOURS... gee I managed to login within a couple minutes on this launch.

...So unless you have some sort of FACTS on exactly how much testing an MMO needs or how much they did then I would suggest you sit down and shut up!

I used to be surprised by these types of posts. It's totally 2 sided, no gray area. You have the people who are upset that a service they pay for is unavailable, and you have the people who for some unknown reason rush to slam those same people in defense of the company.

When did it become okay to roll out a knowingly buggy product? I guess when Microsoft became king of the OS world everyone else said well, if they can do it so can we. As an IT professional, I would be completely embarrassed if my infrastructure performed this poorly on a newly rolled out application for my business customers. I certainly would never induce an outage with no communication to my customers regarding recovery time or what the actual problem is I'm trying fix.

Why this has become so acceptable in the gaming world is beyond me. It's so acceptable, in fact, that you have people passionately arguing FOR the poorly performing company.

Yes, issues do happen, but nearly all of these issues existed during the beta stress tests. These aren't issues that kind of snuck up on them. It's just poor quality control for what is otherwise a very well thought out game design and experience.

I like ESO, but its staff really needs to get a grasp on reality, and public relations.

Who the heck shuts down the servers on a Saturday night to do maintenance, during some of the most busiest time of the evening?

Of course, no ETA. Do we go to bed and get up? Do we watch a movie on Netflix and come back? Come on man, get with it.

What are you, 12? Server has issues. They bring down. Not brain surgery.

As a matter of fact, I'm 36, thank you for asking. Does age have something to do with expecting common courtesy among companies? @ZOS_GinaBruno, give us an eta please! :D

Age and intellect have everything to do with yelling like a baby when the server goes down

They didn't plan for people to crash the servers or to have a massive bank/character item wipe bug going around. The ETA for emergency maintenance in every other MMO I've played at launch is "when we fix it." The timing wasn't their doing.

LOL... It's like WoW all over again. Honestly, when you go to get your oil changed, do you argue with them that they should be paying you because you can't use your car while it's being MAINTAINED??

People... omg.. I need to leave this thread...

If I'm leasing a car, I do. At least if I'm smart enough to negotiate. And the $15/month = more akin to leasing. Apples, oranges.

In any case, I'm neither complaining, nor throwing a tantrum. I'm asking nicely if any such thing has been planned.

Maybe they can't give an ETA, because the issues are so serious that they have no idea how long it will take to resolve.

These sorts of issue happen in games that have been out of release for several years.
For example, I remember numerous occasions in WoW, where the servers had to taken down for a couple days to resolve an issue, and no estimated time was given, because they couldn't.

And the people who are suffering from the issues that require it to be brought down paid the for the game just as you did. Should they be denied a speedy resolution just because you want to play?

Guys i know that some of you are pissed and angry that they brought down the servers on a saturday night, but you gotta remember

    "*** HAPPENS"

They didn't plan this, they are also spending their saturday night working to fix the issues some players had, the forum support people are also on here doing what they can
We've brought down the NA megaserver in order to address some of the issues players were running into tonight.

i realize that most of you want to vent, It's perfectly fine to let your frustrations out. Just keep in mind there are people who are working to fix the servers and get it back up and running to let you play the game you enjoy. if you didn't enjoy the game even for all the bugs it has; you will not be here to vent on it to let you play it. So relax, it is saturday night; go out or watch a movie or do something which you may or may not have been neglecting. When they fix it, be it soon or a little later than anticipated it will be on and waiting for you to continue your Adventure. See you guys in game
