Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

We, the players, deserve playtime compensation for this.

Holy crap! I expect this nonsense on the ESO FB page but here on the forums? Seriously? Buggiest launch ever? Have you lost your mind? YOU COULDN'T EVEN PLAY WOW! THEN when they fixed the server overload you still had lag that caused you to loot for 15 minutes and quests that couldn't be completed...

You and all of your self entitled twits really need to stop trying to speak for the player base. Honestly, I couldn't agree with you any less then I do and I'd request you either walk away or stop acting like a spoiled little brat.

This is by far the best launch I've ever seen and I've played since EQ1. Honestly, and without laying out a list of games that I'll gladly embarrass you over reasons why they were horribly launches, name a single MMO that launched better than this ASIDE from EQ1. Which was about the same.

The OP has clearly NOT played MMO's since UO or she would not have made such a daft statement. Many many many MMO's have had much much rougher launches with much more serious problems.

There are definitely problems that need to be fixed for EOS but really over all they are not as major as a number of other MMO's have had at launch.

I've played countless MMO's at launch and this is by far the roughest and buggiest. LotRO, EVE, WoW, GW, LoL... they all had their bugs to be sure, but nothing on the sheer scale of this. Full bank wipes? Rollbacks to hours before? These aren't 'launch day server stress bugs', these are GAME. BREAKING. problems that had no good reason not to be addressed and fixed PRIOR to launch.

Really, all this just traces back to how naive and yes, ignorant Zenimax was in its pre-launch months. I was invited to virtually every Beta event, and you know? There weren't that many. A couple stress test weekends do not an intensive beta make. This all goes back to just how poorly Zenimax tested this game prior to launch, and now we the paying customers are being hammered into the role of beta testers while they sort this crap out.

well i guess u havnt played SWTOR when it launched...should have still been in beta when it launched and was unplayable alot of the time....one company sued another for telling them to release it that early....was waaaay buggier then this.....move on kid....this game is how most games are at launch playable with Some issues.........maybe u should go back to WoW :)

Why on earth is everyone complaining so much? This is the end of week one... This game is beautiful and actually very fun. They spent years developing it, countless hours, days, weeks, YEARS of effort to provide us with entertainment. Suddenly (how many? enter X number here...) people are attempting play all at once and there are (gasp!) issues that they are working on. Relax; it sucks, yes. But it's not an actual big deal in the grand scheme of life. I'll give you 49 cents out of my own pocket to compensate you for this one day of lost funds, if it makes you feel better.

Some people only have weekends to play. How many weekends are in a month? Redo the math. Then offer to compensate me. I'll gladly take you up on it.

I have two jobs, in my last semester of full time college (16 credits, which is four classes), and I have a 7 year old child. I completely agree, some of us only have weekends to play; in fact, I only have weekend evenings to play, honestly. The math is $15 per month divided by 30-31 days, which is 49 cents per day, roughly. 48-50 cents per day, if you want me to get really specific. Which is actually absurd when this month is free of a subscription charge, but that's what I was using as a basis for reimbursement. It's absurd to ask for any type of compensation for the purchase of the game in terms of days played, right? The Halo games take like 3 days to beat, does that mean I should ask for compensation because I find them to be a rip off? If I want to be an a-hole maybe, lol. I paid for the Imperial edition of this game, I find it to be wonderful and I look forward to years of playing. Maybe I'm the only one not complaining about one day of lost time, even after spending 12 hours today studying for a test in Business Tax and all I wanted to do was end the day in Tamriel only to spend 20 minutes, literally, waiting to load into Cyrodiil and it never loaded. Just saying, it's really not that big of a deal.

You are right, my panties aren't in a bunch about it. Just stating a thought.

Maybe that is also why this month is free, definitely something to consider. I am mainly thinking from a business standpoint. On what I think is the right thing to do.

Congratulations on your last semester of college, I wish you well irl and in Tamriel.

I have played MMOs since Ultima Online...

Never before has something become such a clusterflock of serious, impairing problems occurred without some form of playtime compensation.

It's bad enough that I have lost bank storage space, deposited gold, and items. Let alone saving my time to play the game this weekend, planning my schedule accordingly. This is time that I am paying for.

I am not paying for the "privilege" of being a glorified beta tester. I already participated in the beta, and while the game has a long way, if there were serious issues such as this BEFORE *official* launch then guess what? You postpone the damn launch. You are NOT ready.

Have others games had similar issues? Yes. But how are they doing now? Surely it has repercussions, especially if there is no action from the people responsible to take... well.. responsibility. So: Since this has happened in other games launches, there is still an expectation: Compensation for the playtime I lose, that I paid for. Period. We have gotten 3 days compensation before, surely I can expect to get it again.

I haven't even gotten an e-mail or notification about problems I have been having. It's absurd.

I hope things get all patched up, and I am a fan of this game. There has been lots of progress. However, from a business standpoint, I really hope they make the right call and give us playtime compensation.

    EDIT: spelling and such. Engrish.

60/60 Shadowfall quests completed without a quest bug.

    *shrugs*

Less than 10 hours of downtime in the first week.

Hi, Zenimax. I realize that I paid more or less the going rate for a new release, and that it included a month of game time. No need to compensate me for down time. I trust that you're doing what you can to iron out these wrinkles so that when I actually do start paying monthly, I'll have a better experience. For the record, my experience has been excellent so far.

That said, if you do decide to hand down compensation in the amount of three day's play time, feel free to give my $1.50 to the OP and those like him. I doubt a $1.50 credit is really going to make them feel better, but $3 might just do the trick.

    Thanks!

I disagree, reimburse him, he is obviously delirious from already rubbing one out today and now having nothing to do.

“We have white people problems in America. That’s what we have. White people problems. You know what that is? That’s where your life is amazing, so you just make up *** to be upset about. People in other countries have real problems. Like “Oh ***, they’re cutting all our heads off, today!” Things like that. Here, we make things up to be upset about. Like “How come I have to choose a language on the ATM. It’s ***. I shouldn’t have to do that. I’m American!” — Louis CK

Good point. The only inherent wrong is cutting off someone's head or similar. So feel free to come break into my house, steal my TV, and poop on my bed. You didn't cut off my head, so you didn't do anything wrong. I'm just complaining about my "white people problems."

I dunno, I've played at least half of the MMOs since UO at launch and/or beta tested and I don't remember this much down time, especially during weekends. They all had bugs... but I have to say the "not being able to attack and running slow bug" is pretty harsh and Beth/Zenimax hasn't even acknowledged it exists yet.

Longest down times I remember are 3-4 hours, which people were freaking out about. But ESO has had a 16 hour downtime already and this one is estimated at 11 hours and it's only a week into launch.

    I don't know, it just really hasn't been that bad at all for any of my guild-mates. We've experienced a handful of bugs, and there have been some downtimes but nothing like Diablo 3;

a four-player game released by the company which owns World of Warcraft and yet couldn't function for more than four hours for over a week after release.

They owe us nothing, and you're entitled to nothing because of the downtime. Go back and read the EULA, etc..

The only issue I have with the downtimes is that they have a bad habit of giving all of 5 minutes notice with zero information about what's going on. They need to learn to communicate better.

LOL, Ive played 3 MMO's from day 1, and all three were clusterfucks so to speak. In fact, The Secret World was so bad that the GM's started giving people quest completes in order to progress through the game.

This startup, although it seems to have a few problems, feels like its been out for months, not weeks.

LOL @ 'kid'. I guarantee I've got more than a few years on you, buster.

And no, SWTOR was not this bad on release. SWTOR was not this bad in BETA (which I also participated in). Connectivity issues are one thing; no matter how bad they are, they are ALWAYS to be expected when a major MMO first launches. But game-breaking bugs like bank wipes? Uh-uh. If Zenimax did even HALF of the beta testing they SHOULD have done, it would be a non-issue.
