Cyrodil open to non-PvPers?

The two don't mesh well together (pve and pvp) and devs are in the business of making money so they wont short change their income from both aspects of an MMO.

Best bet, see if some people can go with you or try the die and keep on moving approach. Maybe people in this game wont follow you around ganking you all day but will take pity and only do it a few times before moving on.
Who gankers? I did all the non daily quests in Cyrodil, all the delves (still miss some bosses as they had not spawned)
Dolmens and Skyshards, on an PvE build. Was killed once, saw another Khajiit in an town, I run towards an friend ignoring the blue shield above his head. He saw an AD enemey charging.
Once during the anniversary event, saw some enemy having problems killing mobs, yes that was an trap :)
Granted I was bypassing and not engaging but still nice execute.
And you have times then we all share a goal.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Worst thing that will happen is you get killed and respawn. It’s not that bad. You’ll be fine. If you can’t bring yourself to deal with that then you have no business in Cyrodiil.

One of the most catastrophically stupid things MMO developers do and have ever done is mix PVP and PVE in a single game.

You might as well just light your game's playerbase on fire and call it a day.

The drama it creates is exemplified on this thread; the wrong kind of drama - stupid human trick drama in which everyone's being reasonable for wanting what they want, but the very act of being reasonable has been made incorrect and dysfunctional.

PvE games should be PvE only. It's far too late for this circus, but one doesn't need a degree in rocket surgery to look at the successes of games like Call of Duty and every MOBA on earth to know that PVP gaming doesn't need or require things like storyline, questing and all the other janky jingles of PVE gaming.

And PVE gaming would be, at least in my opinion, several orders of magnitude improved by not having to limit it to PVP balancing and turning it into a schizophrenic nightmare of having to consider every single PVE power and ability or change thereto in light of what players will do with it in PVP.

Mixing PVP and PVE isn't like mixing oil and water - it's like mixing francium and water, and the what do we get for it?

Mediocre PVP and PVE and a baked-in guarantee that everyone's going to be pissed off and unhappy about something.

PVE requires a spirit of cooperation and that is fostered by creating a community context that values cooperation and rewards it.

PVP rewards limited cooperation within a specific context, but rewards conflict and victory in conflict, whether through cooperation or as a solo actor. These are two fundamentally opposed psychological frameworks.

Do you want your community to be eyeing eachother as rivals and competition at all times, even when they're getting along and cooperating for the moment? Make a PVP game, and for god's sake, stick to your design plan.

Do you want your community to be encouraged to find reasons to work together and not constantly have to worry that half of everyone might be eyeing them as rivals and competition in all things and only willing to cooperate to such extent as it benefits them personally? Make a PVE game, and for god's sake, stick to your design plan.

If there was no PVP in this game then I probably wouldn’t have bought it. That’s easily $1000 that ZOS never would have gotten. Considering that XBox is pop locked to near 200+ queue on most nights that says that there are probably 700 - 1000 frequent PVP players and many thousands more infrequent ones. Across all systems there are easily 3000 to 5000 regular PVPers. That’s upwards of 3 to 5 million dollars that ZOS has potentially made just off PVPers alone.

If you want a PVE only game go play Skyrim. ESO was advertised from the jump as having an important PVP component. Deal with it.

Same, I only Beta Tested it because Planetside 2 style PVP was promised. I only kept playing it because Planetside 2 style PVP was in the game. ZOS would have never gotten the money I spent on my account and my ex's account if there was no PVP.

I wish we had a PVE campain for Cyrodiil and IC. No benefits of PVP mode - no AP, telvar, sets, etc. Just enemies to kill and a zone to explore. IC is very beautiful and atmospheric. Yet it was ruined - turned to a campain.

ZOS do listen to requests - why don't ask for it? But how technically do you see it? An enemy player will drop a head piece? Just curoius, it is an interesting idea.

I’ll throw out my idea that is awesome but would surely crash the server.

Once an hour at a completely random and unannounced place in Cyrodiil 200 zombies would spawn. 199 of them drop nothing. One of them will drop a gold item with the correct trait.

It’s up to you to find and kill the zombie hoard before anyone else does.

Killing people is the same as killing NPCs. A friend of mine who only played PvE but was max level long before me tried PvP after I made him. We were BOTH surprised how easily he killed people once he started.

Another friend of mine I met in a delve when he was level 15. He played MagDk and asked me out of the blue for some advice. Well he became a friend and all my other MagDk pals taught him stuff and gave him advice. We were planning on bringing him along in PvP, slowly or whatever. We were gonna do IC but figured he didn’t have enough AP for Sigils of Imp retreat. WRONG that fool was sitting on 150k he’d gotten from mopping fools in BGs.

If you’re scared of PvP does some BG’s first. Then dip into Cyro.

It's already been asked for over the course of 5 years. The only thing we got was the Golden items vendor which MIGHT sell the monster set you need during a random week for AP. It might.

It would be nice, really, and a lot of us dream of such a utopia. But it's not to be. They decided early on to split this game between PvE and PvP and now they have to stubbornly adhere to it no matter how ridiculous it gets with the constant attempts to balance the two. The best that you can do is get with a group of people who can help walk you through what you need to do in Cyrodiil to get your achievements done, and just tolerate it until it's over with. I promise you that the day you finish Cyrodiil Skyshards you will feel a relief akin to finding a bathroom at the point your teeth are starting to float, it feels great to have it over with. But seriously, getting with a group of friends is the way to go in making Cyrodiil tolerable. Sadly, our choices are very limited as far as that goes now, and you will have to find the most stable group you can that is in the alliance you belong to, which can be tough. I also recommend you play in Offline mode so that strangers don't get to whisper you with creepy sex talk or any other type of weirdness they get up to out there. If you want to finish achievements you can't avoid Cyrodiil, but you can find ways to take most of the sting out of it until it's done.

No, the worst thing that will happen is you get killed and lose half of your Tel Var stones, then respawn and get killed again and lose half of your remaining Tel Var stones, then respawn and get killed again and so on until you have no more Tel Var stones. :p

Honestly I enjoyed the way PVP works in Final Fantasy, it's all instanced and the open world is free for people to roam around in. If players want to pvp then go queue up and spend all your game time fighting against like minded individuals.

ESO offers more robust PvP that FF does. It is not limited to just BGs like it is in FF.

It makes sense to have more than one type of PvP in a quality MMORPG like ESO just as it makes sense to have more than on type of PvE. So if players want to PvP in ESO hey have a choice of BGs, Cyrodiil or IC. If they want to avoid PvP totally they have the 95% of the game that has no PvP possible.

    Great design.

Try putting your character into Medium armor and going vamp for the sneak cost reduction and speed, then investing in some invisibility potions. There is still a chance you could be detected, and it may take you a few tries, but I'll bet you could get it done if you time it right. Even PvPers have a tough time getting those gated shards, so don't give up.

As long as it didn't reward AP, I would have no issues with a PVE Cyrodiil. SOME things should be locked behind the Alliance War though, so I'd draw the line at the skyshards behind the faction gates.

However to all the timid pvp'ers... the quests in Cyro are pretty pathetic. You aren't missing anything. There are some very scenic locations, though.

In comparison to pvp players, pve players have it much easier. You can go to cyrodiil in non-peak hours and zerg the keeps to get skyshards and achievements. For pvp players if we want good gear we have to complete vet dlc level content which is way harder to do than siege a empty keep or just grab a shard if the gate is already open. Personally I enjoy both pve and pvp and have separate characters for both, but it can be an issue for people who are not interested in wnd game pve.

Note that the keeps don't have to be held by your alliance for the gates to be open. The other faction (AD or EP) can open them for you. You just have to ride further.

Set campaign notifications for your home campaign, check first thing when you log on to see if the gates are open or not.

I've gotten the DC skyshards on a couple of EP/AD characters recently. For the EP one, I had to ride all the way across the map, because it was all yellow. Then I got killed by a player going from the northern gate to the southern one and had to ride all the way across again. But I got them. Now I only have one or two characters that are missing 1 or 2 of the shards (necromancer excepted, as he's not really ventured into Cyrodiil).

And I spend 95% of my time in PvE. If I can do it, you can too!
