Do you think daily crafting should reward AP?

I know, some might think those who do not join PVP or participate in war should not gain AP. But I always wonder, isn't our crafted product supporting war effort? Shouldn't we get at least small amount of AP?

You made an interesting point, I wouldn't be against a small amount, like 200 AP per writ. 1200 AP a day would be like 438k AP a year, so that would be a nice little bonus without being viable as the only source to level up alliance ranks. After all, killing people gives exp. That's purely for the "Alliance support" aspect, the same way, your main alliance quest line could give AP as a reward. Not much, just enough to push people into going to cyrodiil to spend them eventually.

Not sure I really see the point of this. I don't PvP, and I have no need for PvP skills. I have about 40K AP or more scattered around three toons and nothing I care about spending it on. *shrug*

I oppose AP being a currency, rather than just having PvP participation count directly for skill advancement. We have far too many currencies in the game, which only needs one.

I wouldn't mind seeing crafting tied to PVP, however I would love to see it in a more direct way.

Perhaps for building and maintaining portable siege engines, traps that are used during combat, cheap knock off barely functional dwemer spiders. A way to support the war effort in defending while having crafting skills.

Edit: Seeing @Cernow response below mine I think my answer should really be a no.

If you want AP then do PvP. Or at very least do the daily PVE quests in Cyrodiil which also reward some AP.

A siege crafting repeatable quest in Cyrodiil could work, but it would need to involve delivering your crafted equipment to a random keep on the frontlines, in a similar way to how the Cyrodiil scouting quests work. But pure PVE players aren't going to like that because it would mean going into hostile territory, but it would be good for players that enjoy both PVE and PvP.

I have 10 characters and not a single one of them have Caltrops, Vigor, or Warhorn. I know that the top tier players need them, but for the average Joe are they really a "must have"?

Honestly I haven't missed anything from the PvP skill lines and pull decent DPS without them. I wouldn't mind having them at some point, but I simply refuse to grind anything in ANY game that I don't enjoy. If you are forcing yourself to do things that you don't enjoy, it contradicts the entire point of playing a game.

I have a real job for that.

You can get Vigor/Caltrops without fighting any other players at all. Just buy some repair kits and run around fixing walls. I did this on a tank ages ago and it took a little over 3 hours.

Even with this much slower method, it is still no contest as to which grind is longer- AP grind or Undaunted grind...….undaunted is longer by several miles

and who cares of you die? Just respawn at another keep and go repair those walls

I like crafting and doing writs, and I like PvP. But I don't want those two things overlapping. I don't want AP from doing my writs and I do not want crafting materials as PvP rewards.

Voting no because AP is given as daily login rewards on occasion. That alone unlocks the skill line for my toon, do a few BGs, then I have what I need. If leveling up a new toon, do the BGs under 50, get it knocked out early and when it's a bit easier. This coming from PvEer.
AP drops are nice for new alts, vigor is bis then your horse is infinite slow.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

No. That doesn't even make sense. What do crafting writs have to do with your alliance?

The ambient dialogue from the NPC at the turn-in locations (as well as at least some names for those locations) suggests that your crafted items are going to help the “war effort,” presumably meaning the Three Banners War. The idea is similar to how smiths and factories have historically produced weapons, armor, and other war machinery to support troops. Are they not supporting the war effort? Without them, what would soldiers use in combat?

The question seems to come down to whether AP should be reserved for PvP specifically or should be awarded for certain “war efforts” outside of direct combat. Since AP began being given out as daily rewards for nothing other than clicking a button, I’m not sure there’s a leg to stand on in saying AP is still reserved for direct PvP.

I did find the suggestion of crafting war machines (e.g. trebs) interesting, especially as it could combine various crafts. That might require certain tiers in multiple crafting lines, for example, which could change up the daily writ grind a bit. But according to the game the equipment we’re crafting is already being used in the war, so lorewise it seems we’re already contributing to the cause.

No. Alliance Points are a reward for doing player versus player content -- not player versus crafting table because people don't want to participate in PvP.

So is the reasoning just no for the sake of saying no?

Realistically, the reasoning makes sense. If you craft for the army, you're contributing to the war effort.

It could be something as simple as another Cyrodiil daily

Garahel Dravic -- Level 50 Bosmeri Nightblade (EP)

    Why?

Actually I take it back when we can build aka craft war machines.

    Pick daily in Cyrodiil.
Must use 150 ruby ash to craft a treb, plus some silk for the banners, and a few runes for the projectile enchant. Maybe some more bits and bobs. Deliver item. Get some AP.

    That might make some sense.

    I like this.

Manufacture weapons of war, call yourself a pacifist, get kidnapped in the desert, become Irony Man. Sounds like a win.

I would agree if it was completely separate from the normal crafting writs and had to be completed and turned in in Cyrodil. Then it would make more sense.
