50 crowns per sky shard. So an average zone gives you 16 for 800 crowns. Since I hate to pvp and don't want to set foot in Cyrodiil ever again, I can buy those sky shards for my alts that don't already have them. Anywhere else in the game, I'm still going to grab them manually.

Oh, and forgot to mention just like everything else in this game they don't give discounts for having partially collected, you pay full price regardless.

You can buy partially collected skyshards? I don't see that option. I see them in red and saying I am not allowed to buy them. So I believe you can only buy them if you have collected all of them in the zone at least once on a character.

As for me, I voted other. At 50 cents, it an excellent deal. Just like pennies, cheap on their own, but when added up, can become real expensive.

No I mean if you already collected some of an area like have 7/16 collected, and you pay for the sky shard buy option you still pay the full 800 crowns.

Should also mention that you Only get the option to buy them IF you have had a character pick all of them up manually one time.

imo, the prices are alright if you haven't explored a zone already.

However, the prices stay the same regardless of the number of skyshards to grab.

THAT is when i feel like we are getting ripped off. If it unlocks less skyshards, you should either A: get a discount. Or B: not be able to purchase that zone at all.

It would be the full price even if you had 17/18, such as in Summerset.

50 crowns per is idiotic already.

They should be account-wide without a cost already. Pure money grab and very annoying. Too much of my game time is spent hunting shards now for many alts rather than questing and playing the content. Sure I get some content too, but running around the same places in the same zone 15 times gets very old.

The starter zones are the only ones with a price that is even remotely acceptable, except that it is for far fewer shards and those can almost always be quickly nabbed. Not appealing at all, just annoying.

As long as something can be earned in game, it's price in the store is irrelevant. If people want to pay for convenience, that's up to them.

Price is fine, as they're still entirely free to get in-game. This isn't a cost that anyone needs to pay. Just like motifs at 5k crowns a pop. You can get each and every one of those in-game for free. I'm not including the CS-only motifs, which have cost less than half of most of the CS motifs.

And, yes it's 50 crowns per shard, but that's 150 crowns per skill point.

    I would strongly disagree.

That would allow them to complicate many things on purpose just so they could offer simplification by using Crowns.

This is a very tedious part of the game that needlessly impacts alts. It is bad, though I don't see it changing much.

Ya get what ya pay for. Many people have been signalling to ZOS for years that they'll pay through their teeth for convenience (in addition to pixels with zero marginal cost). Stop paying, maybe ZOS will remove the inconveniences and/or lower prices.

You mean like they do with the inventory? I would say that is a good example of what you are talking about, but not the sky shards. That's an element of the game, that was designed around gameplay and then added to the store as a convenience for alts. Let's not forget you need to get the achievement for the skyshards before you are able to buy them. So I have no problem with this business model, is gameplay first, store second. I only wish everything was like that.

750 per Cyrodiil faction is almost too much, they pushed it lol. Was hoping for 500, but not more than 800. Got all my Imperial City and Cyrodiil skyshards before the update and I never have to go back.

This was the monkey’s paw offered to assuage consoles. When it was announced, a good amount of console players said they would buy it ASAP. They wished for either account wide skyshards or a skyshard map and this was the result.

Just so I understand, people pay money to buy this game, then pay more money to avoid playing the game, then complain that they are given the option to spend more money to avoid playing the game. ZOS, you guys are geniuses!

I simply don't understand the aversion to gathering skyshards as part of leveling an alternate character. You have to level the new character and the new character's skills by playing the game, why not make running delves and hunting skyshards part of it? Its not hard. Its not much more time consuming than running main quest/zone story quests/guild quests to speed level.

I can see it now, ZOS will next offer "Scrolls of Leveling" in the guild store where you can use crowns to buy experience to level your alternate character. And people will complain that it is again too expensive.

Running around needed items like skyshards is grindy, not "playing the game". Technically anything is, but the game could have something that required you to daily run (not ride) between Alinoir and Shimmerine, for example. That would technically be "playing the game" but would add no value. The same is true of collecting skyshards on multiple characters. That grind keeps me from playing much of the game I would rather play.

You get over 50 skill points just by leveling to level 50. You get at least 5 more through the basic main quest. You get anywhere from 3-6 more skill points by doing a zone story quest. It takes about 2-3 zones to level up to 50, so conservatively, that is 10 more skill points for a total of 65, and that is without counting the bonus skill points you get at level 25 or 30 or whatever.

With 10 skills and 2 ultimates, that's 24 skill points. Racial passives are another 9. Throw in 2 for persuasion and intimidation and we are up to 33. Which leaves over 30 points for passives to fill. And this is all without grabbing a single skyshard. In fact, this would likely entail actively avoiding grabbing skyshards on quests you are doing for leveling.

Exactly how many skill points do you need from skyshards on your alternate? Are you trying to make every character a master crafter? If so, great, its your game. But that is an unnecessary luxury. Just as buying skyshards is an unnecessary luxury. Therefore, you should be prepared to pay unnecessary prices for it.

Its really no different than paying gold to teleport in the game instead of riding another 10 seconds to a wayshrine with your mount. Except you are using real money to gather something that would take, what, 30-45 minutes to run through a zone? A zone you are likely grinding exp on to level that new character anyway...
