Someone disliking Sheo? What's that madness?!
I actually quite like the voiceactor in ESO, sounds deranged, loud, twisted and funny, as he should.

The first DP I ever met in an ES game was Boethiah, and they scared the crap out of me (reminded me of Xiombarg, somehow). I'd really love to see them in ESO...

Hell, you could even make him pose as a cat and mess with people - oh wait.....
Yeah, I didn't want to give it away to the console plebs.
Sheogorath Is Number One?

Hah! Trick question.
Sheogorath is all the numbers except for number one. Or zero. But mostly he's pie.
But he is. It's how he has been portrayed all the way up to ESO. He's silly and optimistic, talking cheerfully to you, then boom, with a blink of the eye he goes dead serious and comments how your tongue wriggles a lot and he wants it to be still or he'll rip it out.Dracheimflug wrote: »I suspect that is why he is so popular. I don't think he is supposed to be scary crazy, but rather literally just crazy. And his madness being annoying is also likely intentional. He does not want to kill people or scare them, but rather to drive them mad.
@Xarcus In the English versions Skyrim Sheo is voiced by Wes Johnson. He did him in Shivering Isles aswell. ESO's Sheo is voiced by JB Blanc. This voice is the same since skyrim.
@jainiadral Think Mephala and Sanguine are one the having fun side aswell. They both seem to do things just for kicks and giggles.jainiadral wrote: »I love him to bits. I think it's that he's the only Daedric prince who's enjoying himself; perhaps he's the only individual in all of the Elder Scrolls universe who's genuinely having fun. It's a twisted and warped kind of fun, just like madness can be at its best and most insightful moments. He's also helping out in his own warped way, and like madness, you can see it in his moments of pure truth-telling. The Mages' Guild storyline was full of his unique truth about the guilds, about the leadership in Tamriel, aboutValaste's and Shalidor's weaknesses.
Then again, my favorite character in the Star Wars prequels was Palpatine-- the only character who felt pure joy in anything.
To quote Nassir from Secret Word Legends, "But if we can no longer have fun, if we cannot take joy in life, they have won."

CP is a crutch for people who can’t sustain and want to be "tanky" so they aren’t immediately punished for making mistakes.
Some people really don't know how to enjoy fantasy.
You betcha Sheogorath isn't a real, true to life homage to genuine mental illness. He's a slapstick literary device intended to amuse and is no more intended to be an accurate representation for mental illness than My Little Pony is for real horses.
All of these 'but mental illness am sryus biznis!' posts and links? Yes. Yes it is. So is murder, and I bet you couldn't care less about killing each other in Cyrodil, could you. Or killing characterized, personified people in PvE.
Oh but is that different? No. It isn't.
They didn't make mental illness scary enough for you? Of course they didn't, just like they don't make murder and being murdered scary on here.
Welcome to fantasy. It isn't often realistic, primarily because it's fantasy, and that's usually both the point and the reason why it's enjoyable rather than horrifying.
