I would and I often encourage people to play it.

I tell them how ESO has an amazing story and world to explore if you're a TES fan, that the classes are interesting and fun and group play is great.

However I also explain the issues and make sure not to sugar coat anything. I do normally advise them that if they want balanced competitive PvP or competitive PvE then other games do it better.

For sure no, Zenimax don't care about gamebreaking issues and the worse lag each update. Not going to waste time of my friends on this broken game that won't get ever fixed. I love this game, but start to regret the time and money i invested into it.

I've done it a few times already, but warned them about the issues as well. Wouldn't want them to hate me :)
It's sad because this game has such a great potential, especially in the pvp area, but it's completely ruined by its bugs and the lag.

Yes, I recommend it. I haven't experienced all the supposed "performance issues" or " gamebreaking bugs" that people claim exist these days. I think most of that is people being stuck with a crappy internet service provider due to those providers monopolizing their local areas. The game itself is fine. It runs flawlessly for me, anyway.

ESO is one of the best MMORPGs I ever played. Plus is one of the ES games as well, since most ES games focus on a specific region, ESO has almost all of them. So yes, I would recommend this game.

Not at this point, no, not anymore.

Basic bugs and lag, plus access and server issues are something that a newb wouldn't be impressed enough by the rest of the game to bother getting passed.
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

I think the game is totally immersive and the PVP is the best in the business but I would tell them to play with a light step. I would explain to them the lag and some of the nuances, like having to zone for mail sometimes and getting disconnected in PVP over and over, but besides that if they only want to PVE and quest and do dungeons, I would tell them yes.

It depends on the friend. I've both recommended ESO to people and advised them to stay away and find another game, but that's based on them and what they like.

For example one of the friends I warned off had just quit Guild Wars 2 because they hated reaching the level cap and only having horizontal progression after that - they wanted basically an old-fasioned grinder where you're constantly levelling up and constantly getting better gear and then can go back to low level zones and kill everything just by walking past it. Between the gear cap, diminishing returns on CP and game-wide scaling they'd hate ESO.

With other people I've told them enthusiastically that ESO is exactly what they want and they should definitely play it because I think it's one of the best MMOs out there.

I seem to get pretty lucky with my connection to this game and rarely have lag or disconnect issues (maybe also helped by not playing PvP) but I might mention that other people complain about it if I think it would be relevant for that person, with some of my friends I know they couldn't care less unless it's bad enough that open-world PvE is unplayable. (And I mean literally unplayable, not if you have the FPS monitor on you'll see drops, or loading screens take longer than expected, I mean literally you cannot play the game because everything is going too slowly.)

My opinion of the game is not realistic. The game itself (PvE) is probably fine, although overland perhaps to easy.

In my state i would not recommend, but mu opinion is influenced heavility by:

    - i have been playing since beta and am feeling burned out with the game. PvE is boring to me, and PvP has to many problems
    - I mainly PvP, which was way better performance wise (and gameplaywise without procsets and poisons) on release.
    - I rather want to play a classic type of mmo like a game such as Pantheon, so i wait for that

Therefore i don't recommend the game, but i do ask people to try it for themselves if a free trial arrives. Then they can decide it for themselves. For a new player the game has much to offer if they come to PvE.

I play regularly with my wife. One of my work friends and one of her work friends join us when they have time and can be arsed to drag themselves out of WoW.

I've gotten at least five or six other people to buy and try the game over the past couple of years. Whether they stuck with it, I honestly couldn't say.

I'm happy to recommend it to anyone that likes the Elder Scrolls setting and is willing to accept some crappy MMOification limitations for the ability to run around in a massive and growing Elder Scrolls world.

Do people actually have these conversations? I highly doubt it....most gamers I know check out things for themselves especially if they own a copy of the game.

There is so much BS on forums these days, everyone has their pet agenda, they get mad a developer for X and all of a sudden there are these in depth talks with others like it was a climate change debate or something.

It could be the infrastructure. Maybe your provider is using equipment that doesn't play nice with Zos's hardware? It could be any number of things. All I know is that while you may have connectivity issues with ESO, I have zero problems. Like I said, this game runs flawlessly for me. But, I'm most likely not stuck with the internet service provider that you're stuck with.

I voted yes than I remembered, I brought a copy for one family member and convinced a second family to purchase it. I enjoy my family, but are they really my friends?

Hmmm this leads me to ponder the nature of friendship and the meaning of family. It could be said that a friend is one is there to support you (and you them). Likewise family are those we have a deep connection with. The former typically is considered a blood connection with. Then again step parents, children, siblings are still family and there is no blood connection as are those adopted into a family, blurring the lines.

So lets focus on friends, is the test of friendship simply being there for one another or does it mean something more. Is there a quality that has a deeper meaning? Is someone still reading these words and silently grumbling that I wasted their time? When I could have simply said yes and moved forward? Shall I ponder that as well? No my new friend I should not.

    tl;dr Yes.
