Frostvault still bugged? (laser boss)

So the last 2 attempt for me to do vFrostvault has ended up with the laser boss being run on a 30 seconds timer between the laser phases and not health % based as all guides say.
Combined with the unstackable range super adds that does 1 shot mechanics with insane health and then continue to spawn in the laser phases... I am yet to find a group of 1 tank 1 heal and 2 dd that can perform enough ranged single target dps to keep the adds in check while dodging everything...
Anyhow... Is this bug still there? Or is it just a change for it to occur when you enter?

✭✭I don't think the 30 second is a bug, some guides mention that too, I believe. I feel that it's intended behavior that the laser phase comes either on health intervals, or on timer, whichever comes first.
Granted, the fight is tough, it's a bullet hell, and it takes practice. There are real bugs too - sometimes the boss just fails to shield a laser, sometimes doesn't shield up at all (but oddly stops the laser at that), sometimes his heavy attack lands a few seconds after visual and at different spot completely, but the shield phase timer feels like something that is there by design.0 -

The sphere attack is not a 1 shot, you can block or cast shields to prevent dying, it is a fight which requires alot of practice. You just have to be mobile and be aware of your surroundings while casting shields or increasing your resists. It is pretty easy when you get the hang of it.0 -

Mygalomorpea✭✭✭I did a normal run of frostvault last night with some pugs on a baby toon, laser phase only happened 3 times in 4 minutes. But in the run I did with guildees an hour earlier I had 4 laser phases in 2m30. Then the run I did a few weeks back had 4 laser phases in 2 minutes and boss was still at 90% or something high.
There is definitely something strange in that fight. If it was timer based the pug run would have needed more laser phases, and if it was health based the number of phases would have been the same on all complete runs.
Edit : oh, and no adds spawned during the laser phases in the runs from last night. But it was happening a few weeks back... Can't recall any patch note that addressed that fight.Edited by Mygalomorpea on May 28, 2019 8:35AM0 -
Retzee✭✭Ricochet Wave is not blockable.
Does not matter, read what i typed, its not a 1 shot mechanic. Tell the tank to keep him in right on the center. Tell your healer to cast combat prayer, if you have a warden tell him to cast frost cloak, if you have a dk ask for obsidian.. you just need to increase your resists or have a damage shield. Even if your squad doesnt have any defensive buffs you can just move back and forth to avoid the wave, stop dps on the boss clear the adds and keep going.
Like i said its a fight wich requires alot of practice to get the hang of it. It is a unique fight just like the pinion from WGT, and just because of that im sure they are goin going to nerf the hell out of it soon.0 -
