I just earned a 2k bounty because I can't help but fidget with my keys/mouse when I'm standing around. I casted a pet who then decided to kill a NPC (despite the fact that I have the setting to attack NPCs turned off, which pets seem to ignore), which earned me a 1200 bounty, and then in an attempt to not die to the guard who agro'd me I used my mender to stay alive as I got away, earning me an extra 270g bounty every time I recasted the pet to heal.

I don't even really care about the gold. I have ten million gold, so 2k gold doesn't really matter. What does matter to me is being punished because of something that I can't help due to choosing to play a necro. Knowing this is going to earn me a bounty and a possible death every time won't stop me from fidgeting with my keys while I'm not busy. I honestly cannot help it. I know there are people out there like me too because I see them in game every day. That player who is jumping around and casting abilities here and there in town--they probably can't really help it. That's just what they do, that's how they are, and to be punished for it is frankly pretty terrible.

At least give us an option to turn this off. No matter how hard I try to remind myself not to use those keys, I'm going to do it anyway because that's how I am. It's like telling me that even though I have an itch that I really need to scratch, I'm not allowed to, and if I do, I'm going to be punished for it. I'll do it anyway (and you probably would too) because it's an unconscious act or reaction that we can't really help.

On the other hand, running from the guards keeps your hands preoccupied, too.

Hell... i dont even get to hear Malcolm McDowell's sexy voice. Or giggle at Jim ***'s easily recognized voice any more.

Don't know what sounds abilities make. Or even if, when ever caught using criminal acts in the game how the guards or NPCs sound, or even the music.

But, still doesn't stop me from having fun and doing my own things to keep active. As well, if kids or wife show up asking me anything. I'm not doing anything since i have to sign to them. Both hands off the keyboard. Sometimes i have to die to a guard to talk to my family and friends. All MINOR in the grand scheme of things.

I also have ADHD and as I run aimlessly around continually while I am in voice chat or just not actively questing or whatever, I will add that ESO should get rid of all cliffs, ledges and balconies. Since I tend to run off them and die, it's unfair for them to be there. I can't help running around so putting things in the game that I might run off of is just a *** move.

I dont want to agree with you cause ZOS doing this was only a good thing for lore immersion, and i hope they expand it to include werewolves, vampires, daedric magic etc. And when it comes to duels, how about this. Leave town. Duel outside. ZOS gave us an entire arena to the west of Wayrest just tor dueling that everyone ignores.

I dont know what else to say other than to just deal with it. :/ Thats not me being mean, thats just your only option. Like other people said, ZOS isnt going to cater to you for your personal struggles.

The game you're suggesting ESO should be is not a game that a lot of people want to play. It would make the game completely unplayable for anyone who was a vamp or ww as they wouldn't be able to interact with any npcs to get quests, dailies, use wayshrines without being agro'd by guards and NPCs as soon as they port, etc. You'd basically be ruining the game for a substantial portion of the playerbase. Why the hell would you want that?

Werewolves are incognito until they transform. There's no need for you to transform while in a player hub. Vampires are incognito while in Stage 1. Vampire players can spend the little extra time making sure they're in Stage 1 while in player hubs.

Or you could just not be cursed.

I'm a "filthy casual" but even I don't want this game to be too easy where you can just do whatever the hell you want without reaction or consequence. This game isn't just a "Do action A to get goal B", we're playing in a vast, established world. Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. Play the Role. With all it's requirements.

Your lived experience with ADHD isn't going to be the same as everyone else's, thank you for the anecdote though.

Doesn't that also apply to your story tho?

No, other players I've talked to in game have the same problem.

So, you think the plural of anecdote is fact? I'm sorry, but it isn't. You shouldn't need ZOS to step in and cater to you for this problem. ADHD doesn't mean you're incapable of coming up with your own effective solutions for managing it. In fact, that's one of the most important milestones for anyone with ADHD.

Necro summons being a criminal act was obviously poorly thought out due to how it affects dueling and how you can't even use those abilities without getting a bounty/agroing guards and NPCs while questing too. It's an annoyance and a time waster. There's nothing interesting or unique about it when we have vampries, werewolves, and daedric pets flying around everywhere who the guards don't seem to care about, not to mention non-combat/crown store pets which would be lore breaking, or even mementos which summon, uh, gigantic undead dragons.

It's a lore thing, there's no way around with. You can imagine the uproar from the playerbase if necro can just summon corpses in the middle of the town, since you know, necromancy is illegal in Tamriel according to the lore. People will complain that it is unimmersive, unlorefriendly, and it is against everything Elder Scrolls stands for, yadayada whatever.
It's something we have to deal with. The uproar from the playerbase will even be 10 million times much worse otherwise.

There are a couple of things you could do:

    1. Have skills on your back bar that are not criminal activities and flip to your back bar when in town.
    2. Make your Necromancer's home town the Hollow City in Coldharbour, where there is no justice system.

I would just like to point out in the initial Elsweyr livestream that someone mentioned dueling in town as a Necro and the fact that certain skills get you a bounty if witnessed. Rich's response was "maybe don't duel in towns". So your statement about them not thinking how this would affect Necros dueling in towns is wrong.

Aside from that, several people have offered a means of dealing with your issue, but you seem to not be acknowledging any of them other than to say "changing my bars is too much hassle". That's not to say that if you dislike the 'criminal acts' portion of Necro that you shouldn't mention it; it's been stated that ZOS is going to be monitoring how this whole thing works, to potentially expand on it further or remove it. But when people are genuinely offering advice and it's ignored in favor of being argumentative, it makes people less than willing to advise and more likely to get snippity and short.

Also on the matter of a toggle, that would defeat the purpose of even introducing the 'criminal acts' since everyone would just turn it off. I can't say I have ADD/ADHD but I do have a horrible memory issue. I can forget things as soon as I've heard, read, or seen them. Despite this I have somehow managed not to forget that some of my Necro's skills can't be used in town. It helps that I have a habit of jumping around and spamming block and running in circles and stuff when I'm not doing anything specific, so I'm not hitting those skills to begin with.

The point here is find other ways to fidget that don't include accidentally summoning a skeleboom or spooky healer; run in circles, or hit the Esc key to bring up your options menu thing. I'm pretty sure no key presses with it open are registered until you hit Esc again. That way you can fidget with your keys until the cows come home and it shouldn't have any adverse effects on the game.

In medieval times believe it or not IRL necromancy was respected as so powerful by Royalty / King that it was a death sentence to be identified as a Necromancer.

The same goes for vampiric acts---the posse would hunt them down too as well as anyone suspected as a WW.

ESO has mangled the Vampire re what happens with feeding and its powers etc but they did nail this part of Necromantic acts and the "law"

Guards will attack a vamp and WW if they use their skills against npcs in town

The Necromancers IRL of old stayed far away from town, and so must we in eso ---just comes with the territory

I don't want to be a jerk but let me just say this: Life is unfair.

The issue of dueling is a reasonable one though.

The same thing you're complaining about would also get you bounties as well in other situations. Blastbones needs a target. You're telling me that you can't help but twitch to criminally bring out blastbones (who requires a target) in which case you would have birded the npc on your warden anyway so who cares? Might I suggest a quick fix for you would be to get a skill swap.

I can feel for your concern but it isn't the end of the world. It reminds me of the nuisance one feels when going to click on an npc to converse only to discover that he's moving right as you click and you 'steal' an item right in front of him. I always found that odd.

Yeah this would make sense if I couldn't stand around and summon corpses all day long with the worm wizard personality, but I can. I can even use a memento to summon a gigantic bone dragon, which the guards conveniently ignore. Really makes you think.

The restrictions on necro are completely arbitrary, so why do they even exist? Just like no one noticed or cared about the worm wizard personality or bone dragon memento (where was the "uproar" then?), no one would care if a necro could summon it's pets whenever it wanted.

True. The pet that will go kill something without you taking additional action after it is spawned can only be spawned if you target something it can attack. So OP is getting a bounty because they sent an attack to a NPC.

The pets we can spawn without having something targeted will not attack anything unless you enter combat, or are already in combat. They will get you a bounty, but that is a different story.

I have ADHD that is considered 'severe' and 'life impacting' by medical professionals. I've always just spammed spacebar/jump in every game ever. I must. Jump. Constantly. Or else it really deepfries the few working nerve ending in my brain with anxiety. Suggestion; Just rebind your keys or something so that whatever ones you're compelled to press aren't illegal ability ones. Gotta press 3 all the time? Just put, like, a buff on that slot. Unless you mean you just sit there and roll your hand across your entire keyboard all the time, in which case it seems like you'd be accidentally doing a lot of stuff you didn't want to no matter what class you were playing.

Maybe try playing with a controller? It gives better tactile feedback for fidgeting, and it's pretty comfortable to just mash X/A and bounce around. Facerolling across an entire gamepad also isn't really so easy, so the chances of accidently doing something seem minimal. I do end up occasionally stealing stuff because I mispressed selected steal instead, but that's hardly just a gamepad problem.

I like the necromancer being a part of the justice system, personally. It compromises the neat concept with my original gripes about how immersion breaking it would be. I'm kind of hoping they might extend it to daedra pets too, because they take up so much screen real estate anywhere there's more than a couple of players. I hate wading around up to my armpits in clanfears, struggling to target the merchant so I can repair my pants.

    Trolling aside there's actually a small issue I noticed on the PTS. The "bug" is as followed;
    • Summon any damage pet. It aggros NPCs and they'll try to kill those pets (also incurs a bounty).
    • Since they're being attacked, pets can wittle down an NPC thus killing them.
    • For extra measure when one pet died I used Mystic Siphon and it actually went through the "Prevent Attacks on Innocent NPS". That was pretty funny.

Which I liked that touch. Necromancers should be careful not to out themselves. We have a personality with torches. All that's missing is pitchforks and we can hunt down those monsters!
