...because it seems like over the past month, WoW refugees have turned several zone chats into the equivalent of Orgrimmar chat, and have also turned the ESO General Discussion forums into a WoW General Discussion replica (much to ESO mods chagrin).
I'm hoping that the aforementioned releases finally gives the ESO community I remember back...not the community it's turned into over the past few weeks.

✭Sadly once the nostalgia of 'Classic' wares off they will be back as this is a far superior game.
Games only ever do a classic reboot for one of the following reasons
Rapidly falling player bases when they screwed up the direction of the normal game.
Repetitive grind-fests re-skinned as new expansions
PvP nerfed beyond all recognition because the 5 year olds cant work out why they got killed
PVE nerf because the bosses are too hard and guilds can't be arsed to learn the mechanics
Developers only listening to the 0.000005% of those that whine the loudest
Developers only listening to the 0.000001% of self promoting streamers that slate the new expansions
The aforementioned expansions are Shite
Or in WOWs case - all of the above

To be fair, pre-exodus ESO players were already doing a fine job of bringing the same levels of thoughtful, patient, and astute posts and commentary that we see today. No need to look elsewhere for an explanation or fail to give proper credit to the ESO community that existed prior to BFA.
Besides, #ESOfam is supposed to be accepting and helpful rather than possessive and tribal, or so I've heard.

✭Friends in FFXIV are saying the same thing and people on the WOW forums are complaining that the chat rules are too strict. I got a good dose of it in zone chat Saturday morning and one person even remarked it was like "Barrens chat".
I like our community, even with the occasional issue, and I welcome all the WOW refugees but they need to know that behavior won't be tolerated here ingame.12 -

This is nothing new, this has nothing to do with one game or another, it is the circle of mmo gaming life. More so as schools across the world approach their end of the year between May, June and July. It'll die down for a month, pick back up for another month and cycle into the calmer state as majority of summer / fall vacations end.

spacebandit✭✭✭It’s a small percentage of people. Influx of any kind from any game is going to add to that small percentage. Then all of a sudden those that already existed now have more likeminded players to grief or retardatalk or whatever it is.
Most people even most wow players are good people.

I am so confused why anyone would play classic outside of maybe just to max level. It makes absolutely no sense to me. It makes zero sense outside of pure nostalgia to want to play it. I mean I played wow for 6 years and still would if It wasn’t crap now. But the way it is now has no sway on what I think about classic.

At least I'm not the only one who has noticed this. I was telling someone in one of my guilds how it felt like barrens chat, but everywhere and all the time...only without the *** and chuck norris jokes.1 -

This says it well. I tend to have gen chat turned off since I have no need for it and can avoid trolls.
I would also suggest that with the attitude presented in the OP could be part of the issue.1
