I love TESV: Skyrim, but would really prefer somewhere, anywhere, else. It's just too soon.

Look, we haven't seen Sanguine in ESO yet. Where is he?? Missing his pranks! Let's visit his realm in Oblivion! Moonshadow too! Akavir! When do we get to see Akavir?

Id like to see an expansion in the near future be in "RimSky"...as in on the rim of the sky we see in Tamriel. ZOS has been getting some practice delving into new territory in Tamriel lately. Eventually, letting them go, "elsewhere", on Nirn would be awesome!

Anything but another elven province. Dunmer, Altmer and now Catmer in a row, give us a human province for once.

WIth High Rock filled out and Hammerfell probably being TESVI, that only leaves Skyrim and Cyrodiil.
But honestly, the smaller DLCs are usually better anyway. Any of Skyrim's holds would make a fine Q4 DLC.

My bet is one of those:
    - Skyrim - Nostalgia reason (yes a game from 2011 is nowadays old). Also it would tie up pretty good with the fact that we have dragons with Elsweyr. It could for example explain how the dragons disappeared etc.
    - Hammerfell - Simply because the next TES 6 game is suppoused to take place there. So for ZOS it would make sense to relese that area before TES 6, since after TES 6 less ppl would buy this zone.

TES6 takes place in High Rock.

Been a while here, but didn't to story of Skyrim involve a group of people from the past, sending Alduin to the future to face the dragon born?

Not sure if the ESO timeline is far back enough, but it would be cool if you end up being part of the group that sends Alduin to the future.

It's been a long time since I played through the Skyrim main quest, but I *think* the Nord heroes' use of the Elder Scroll to move Alduin forward in time was toward the end of the first era.

Season of the Dragon isn't an exception. It's the new content rule. So going to Skyrim depends on the story, not on strategically unlocking that part of the map.

This is all just one part of a yearlong adventure called ‘The Season Of The Dragon’, which kicked off in March with the smaller dungeon pack, Wrathstone, and provides a clear picture of ZeniMax Online Studio’s plans for future content. With ESO’s first two Chapters, Morrowind and Summerset, ZOS released smaller DLC packs around them, but the content was unrelated to the Chapter. For example Summerset centred on the high elves and their homeland, but the Wolfhunter and Mirkmire DLC packs that followed were all about werewolves and Argonians.
Things needed to change. “We were stepping on ourselves all over the place,” explains ESO director Matt Firor.
“We had this big promotion to get old users back and new users into the game and we used a lot of Summerset content for that, because that was the biggest thing, but by then we’d already launched two more DLC [packs], and people came in and said, ‘Hold on a minute, I thought this was all about elves, why’s everything about lizard people?’ And that was like, ‘Okay, we’ve got to change that,’ and that led to telling one big story, use all Khajiit, Elsweyr, dragons, just tell that story and have one unified message.”

Murkmire is indeed misspelled in the Xbox Magazine article, and two instances of "Elseweyr" on the preview page.

They say it's about content consistency and a "unified story," but I think it's probably more like the Indrik/event ticket strategy. They're drawing things out over a long period of time in the hope that people will stick around and participate more, while simultaneously encouraging people to do types of content they may not actually enjoy. For myself, I have no interest in DLC dungeons these days, which means I end up missing that part of the story. Don't get me wrong, I fully acknowledge that this is my choice; if I wanted to, after all, I could do the dungeons for the story. I'm just not a huge fan of the approach overall.

    Honestly? No, not really.

The next expansion needs to be focused on Werewolves and Vampires as those 2 storylines and abilities (mostly vampires those as pointed out in this thread) have been neglected for 5 years now.

So ESO takes place ~500 years after Alduin was sent forward. Would still be good to explore that story of how they sent him forward, the elderscroll they used.

There is CERTAINLY a lot of room in ESO to perhaps let us experience what birthed the Volkihar clan and how Harkon was before he was completely mad about blocking out the sun. A lot of potential here.

Dug around s'more - Alduin was actually sent forward to 4E201 "at the end of the Dragon War" which happened in the Merethic Era, so well before 1E.

    Here's where to start: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Merethic_Era

Links at the top go on to other eras. Fascinating.... seriously. I started playing with Arena's release, and I just LOVE seeing the things I played through in the games all listed out in the lore/history pages!

[I think it might be considerably more than 500 years....]

Naw :grimace: They could add a story DLC set in Skyrim, like they added Murkmire, that would enough.

However the next Chapter needs to be Imperial-themed. Firstly, because Oblivion fans deserve some pandering, and because they need to do justice to the Empire's storyline in ESO. It can't just be reduced to a PvP sandbox. And the glorious Tharn dynasty would be sorely wasted if we don't get some quality Imperial content.

    Imperial themed? That's hilarious.

A good like prob 70% of the main story in Elsweyr involves around Imperials. In fact, Imperials and Dragons are literally the "enemy" for this entire chapter.

I dunno about you, but I'd consider that some "quality" imperial content. The main villain queen lady is a Tharn family member lol.....

Meanwhile you have things like vampires and werewolves that are TRULY underrepresented in the game. With only 1 quest each, not quest line, but singular quest and nothing more.

People discussed this extensively in another thread, but yes the fact that Imperials mostly feature as the 'enemy' in other peoples' stories is quite frustrating. Dunmer had two-and-a-half base game zones and an entire Chapter dedicated to them, where we immersed ourself in dunmer culture, we helped their cause, where the dunmer were the protagonist in their own story. Even Orcs got a small zone in base game and an entire DLC dedicated to orc culture, orc politics, orc heroes.

Imperials on the other hand featured as brief villains in Bangkorai, and as a backdrop for the Dark Brotherhood which was about the Stabby McStab club, not about the Empire or Imperial heroes. That's as if the only Redguard zone was Hew's Bane that focuses on the Thieves Guild - but no, Redguards had one-and-a-half base game zones and most of Craglorn. Cyrodiil and the Imperial City are PvP zones, not story zones, and even the quests in IC involve Daedra and are far more similar to Coldharbour than anything Imperial. And yes, in Elsweyr Imperials are once again villains in some other culture's story.

'What epic storyline should we write for Abnur Tharn, Imperial Chancellor, battlemage and political schemer?' 'Ooh, I know, something with cats!' 'Cats?' 'Yes, cats, and dragons!' 'Dragons?' 'Yes, and let's make him look like an idiot, and make players fight evil Imperials!' 'Again?' 'That's top quality Imperial content right there!'... :joy: ... It'd be funny if it wasn't true.
