Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Shutdown servers for a weeks, fix the bugs in peace

Arulus

Find the spine to do it, even the most playerbase would cry and scream over it. Fix the game and then relaunch so we could enjoy a bit more stable enviroment, with less issues.
It will be more beneficial in the long run, i quarantee it. Players would respect Devs more, for making such a bold, but wise move.

Wont you all agree?

Unnecessary, just prioritize the critical issues and issue patches on an ongoing basis.

Will give you a week to buy a new graphics card and/or have surgery on your eyes I don't think they work well.

    Not needed.

They likely have a development instance(s) of the game to work and test on. Their own patch/test servers they can make changes to before bundling the changes into a patch.

Pulling the servers down would gain them nothing.

There is nothing about this game that would require it. A few quest bugs that means you might have to go do something else until it gets patched. Craft, explore areas more, start an alt - all perfectly workable ways around the bugs I have heard about so far and lets everybody to still enjoy the game.

Exactly... taking it down wouldn't make it work any faster.

To OP: Feel free to take a 1 week break if you are having too many issues. So far for me, it hasn't been too bad of an experience.

Not all of us are in the "elder scrolls waiting online game". So no, not all of us do agree. Game works FINE for me, and a million others as well. They take the server down for what, a week. Then have to distribute free game time to everyone for a weeks worth as everybody would be crying due to them taking servers down. It would just create a bigger problem for ESO, and we have enough whiners on this forum as it is.

Thats what ive been doing, because for me game is unplayable in a way that i cant log in most of the time, and if i can, unknown error DC will kill the game soon and then character is locked out.
Theres a ways to get back in the game, but if i have to undergo that routine everytime i want to play my character for random 1-100mins, it will not do.

I just hope the lost playtime will be recompensated with added free days, that would be enough to soothe my frustrations. After all, its a release and everyone knows its chaos. :)

What is the fix to get you back in game? I ask because your problems sound like connection problems, not problems with ESO. I'd guess your "fix" routine is rebooting your router/modem?

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

So OP, even though the game is working fine for the majority of players, you suggest to bring servers down. And the reason for such bold move is?
I have my own list of issues in ESO, but game is playable (PvE part) and enjoyable. Moreso, bringing servers down will not speed up the process of them fixing issues with the game. If anything - such ammount of players helps the to test the game. If you are having so much problems with the game - ask for personal time refund or something, but limitting others because you feel like it is not the correct way of doing stuff.
  • marthiarn123
Yeah well, there is the issue of a gamebreaking bug blocking progression to VR content. Been waiting 4 days for a fix, and nothing. 4 days of no progression.

If I was a PvE only player, I would be demanding free game time compensation.

Thanks, but no. Absolute majority of the game is working and there is very little that would justify this.
I'm sorry you are unable to play, but that is no reason to stop everyone else from playing.
    Failing is a lifestyle too.

It is a perfectly acceptable reason, actually. A week downtime is a bit of a kneejerk, but there needs to be some serious maintenance done in regards to phasing bugging out quests.

It's disappointing too, since when I first hit the groundskeeper bug I was having the best time in an mmo I've had in years. Day 4 of this bug however, and I'm questioning what the point of subbing anymore is.

I've lost the desire to play, honestly. This abrupt lull in progression and absolute lack of response is appalling.

Why there isn't a GM or two dedicated right now to bypassing players with this bug onto the next stage is beyond me atm.

Why don't they split the difference -- keep the servers running (which helps identify bugs and verify fixes), but make all game time free until April 30. Then restart the clock on everybody's 30 days (for people who have already bought the game and activated the 30 days, obviously sign-ups after that proceed normally).

    Call it "beta lite."

It is not that simple , stop making it sound so.

There are bugs , some them , im sure , they only noticed not that the game is out with a huge playerbase.

If they locked the game , they lose the test base. They could fix everything , from their point of view , just to discover when tons of player are in a location , it is bugged still.

And if they open the game with bugs again , people will get ten times more pissed at them.

From level 1-50 out of the five zones 4 of them had 1 bugged quest each oh no need to shutdown the game for a week to fix it. Sorry bro i have played other games that had way more problems than this. There is no reason for them to do this i have a V3 character at this point there are not enough bugs for them to even consider this as an option.

These people have no idea how to prioritize. I had a bunch of ticket in because of a login lockout caused by lousy security patch tying ISP address to account. ARE you kidding? The codes take so long to arrive they are expired or plain don't work. I wasn't able to get into a game I PAID for, that should be a priority. Not just me but all of us. Game should never have been allowed to launch. I was in 4 betas, all these things wrong were there. We did copius bug report which probably ended up in ZOS in box and ignored. Kinda the way the tickets are handled. Some customer service. You get flowery role playing clown bot who decides your fate.

It's pretty simple. If you're not enjoying the game in the state it's in then step away until things get fixed. Nothing wrong with doing that. I've thought about it myself several times just because this is a game I really want to be immersed in. Glitches, bugs, disconnects, login issues can really disrupt any sense of immersion. I'm just having too much fun still when things are actually working well to stop playing right now.

I've had to go through this code/response process many times as my IP changed and didn't have any problems. Are you checking the SPAM folders on the mail account you use and whitelisting the address that sends it? Have you tried switching your account to a different email address? My guess is the issue is with your email account receiving the codes. If you are using the new Gmail interface with the tabs try searching your mail for "Elder Scrolls" to ensure you see the emails.

How is this a constructive solution? You suggest that someone who most likely dropped $99 on a game should just 'step away'? As opposed to actual log in issues being addressed and resolved?

No wonder MMO communities are abhorred.

I made a very strong suggestion on the topic and was surprised how angry answers that got, its like i was taking part of someones life away with the possibility of shutting down the servers until they fix all the bugs... :)

As for my problem, i am able to log in to the game and to the characterlist and after many tries into the actual game too, so i dont see how it is a problem in my internet connection. Yes, resetting my router seems to help often, but as ive done it many many times now, that doesnt help everytime, so again...nothing I can do to it except wait for a fix.

I want to play working game that has everyone equally enjoying it, not a game where some players get to play and some get to fight against massive lags and bugs and disconnections. Quite obvious isnt it?

Absolutely no. The vast majority, the ones that don't visit this forum, are playing with little issue. I have had the falling through the floor, combat not working, bugged quests (2) and I am quite happy to slog it out. People just shouldn't activate within the first month if they are not prepared for a funky game experience, its the price we pay for being early adopters.
