A good gear combo/setup in PVP/BG for a Stamplar?

Hi all,

Any recommendations for the BiS gear for PVP/BG for my stamina templar?

I am currently using Ravager, bone Pirate, and Blood Spawn, 5 heavy/2 medium...

I mainly play BG over Cyrodiil PVP, and I do alright. most of the time my kill to death ratio is greater depending on how good opponents and teams are.

But I still feel like its not very overwhelming.

I was running hundings rage and Alessian, and I was really tanky with decent damage and could survive getting teamed, but I didn't have good sustain.

Obviously in BG, CP are disabled so you lose some sustain there.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

No disrespect, or trying to be sarcastic. Re-roll to new class. Until ZOS gets their S**t together for Templar skills/passives you are playing an RIP class.

I have mained a Templar (Mag and Stam) since console launch. Never seen the class feel this bad to play, EVER!

Unfortunately I have to echo this response. Stamplars have no proactive defense at all, no good way to boost healing and they suffer from a severe lack of passives and very predictable burst. Though they will receive a SMALL buff next patch if you continue with Stamplar you just have to learn to be on the bottom compared to players of equal skill on other classes. ZOS just released patch notes for class skills changes and Stamplar got next to nothing which means this will probably be their state for the foreseeable future. That said, I’d recommend running rally and Race Against Time next patch for improved survival and the minor force+major expedition. This will help your damage and maneuverability. I’m moving from ravager and bone pirates in medium to ravager and shackle in heavy. I’m already using this setup and notice that my sustain is better in heavy using RAT than it is in medium using shuffle. If you can afford it use Artaeum takeaway broth to get the most stats.

I currently run 5 heavy Hundings, 5 hulking draugr, and 2 engine guardian. I find the sustain alright, and engine guardian gives moments of extreme healing where you can go offensive and extreme sustain.

Well, I am hoping with the new update, they are buffing cleansing ritual quite a bit to restore 1k health recovery instead of 200 which will be nice.

Even though there are better PVP classes out there, I still have fun playing this class even though its not the best.

The other classes I have are a DK and Warden. I dont like that the DK isnt very bursty and relies on DOT. The warden I tried, its definitely a solid class, but I enjoy playing the Templar more.

Do you recommend using Warden or DK over Templar for stamina PVP classes?

When necromancer comes out, I will probably trying that for stamina. But honestly I have a lot of fun playing the Templar and its my favorite class, not because its that good but because I was always drawn to it since release of the game.

I agree they need to buff the class more though. A little upset they are getting rid of initial damage on POTL

Yeah I feel the same way, it’s a fun class even if it’s hurting. Idk that the ritual boost is that big though. On live for me it’s like 600 and PTS it’s a bit over 1k.

I might switch to engine guardian, it does proc a lot and is good for sustain

I ran the exact same setup on my Stamplar (Ravager's weapons/3 body, Bone Pirate's jewelry/2 body, Blood Spawn) and ended up going to Warden. Warden burst is just so freaking ridiculous, and it's getting BUFFED (indirectly) next patch with a stronger Dawnbreaker.

The key was I front-barred sword and shield, so I had access to Major Fracture, Minor Fracture, Minor Maim, Minor Heroism, Snare and Major Protection all on one bar, which REALLY turns the tables around mathematically.

I am thinking of switching to my Warden before you said this after giving it some thought.

They are very bursty which is what I like in PVP.

I also run 2H and sword and shield setup on my builds.

Did you notice a big improvement in PVP switching from Templar to warden? Also are you using the same gear now for the Warden (bone pirate, ravager, and bloodspawn)?

    hi,
I play a 2H/bow stamplar in BG with ravager and deadly strike :
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildData?id=132628
It feels pretty strong in BG with this build and will be even more with change to 2H, channeling skills, and cleansing ritual.

I don't think stamplar is weak, it is like every class, dependent on your play style and mastering of it.

My Warden uses Seventh Legion (weapons/3body) and Bone Pirate's (jewelry/2body) and Blood Spawn with 2H Backbar and DW front bar. It's a pretty "potato" setup, but Sub Assault > Heavy Attack > DBoS > Spin-To-Win is just too easy. I have gotten 1 or 2 quad-kills PERIOD on each of my toons, except Warden which I get a quad-kill on at least weekly using that combo. I have tried using a Bow on back bar along with Kena's instead of Blood Spawn to get the extra weapon damage proc with 2 light attacks at range before swapping to DW and using SA, but honestly it almost feels like cheating, it's just so cheap.

I'm by no means an expert, but I run fortified brass, deadly strikes, and bloodspawn. 5/1/1 medium. It does nice damage but self healing is garbage except for the ultimate. You kinda have to dip in and out of fights and choose your battles wisely or else you will die.

I'm running medium armor rn too but next patch heavy armor will be no brainer IMO. Better healing, comparable dmg, and you still get snare immunity via Race Against Time so you can run Rally.

That is simply standing there, no stealth, self-buffed with just the skills on the bars, and a drink going. When the procs hit, she reaches resistance cap and Weapon Damage goes to 4902.

Thanks for sharing the build. What are your thoughts on using sword and shield instead of dual wield? And using shield bash for a CC, or heroic slash?

I've gone back and forth with SNB many times hoping that it would be good. Great utility, but lacks in overall burst for this class's playstyle. You won't be on top of the Stamplar list, but you don't have to be at the bottom with it either.

BTW, you know you're missing a 5th piece of BP in that build? Just an FYI.

Was wondering why the stam regen was 200 points low XD Good catch, never trust the auto-fill on that thing.

    Updated: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildData?id=141218

And yeah 1H/S isn't "really" going to be adding too much more for Warden, since you are getting Major Fracture from SA, Major Heroism from ice shield (assuming getting attacked by range) and stun/cc from DBoS. With the 8% damage mitigation from your class armor buff, that makes up for not having a shield equipped.

But for Stamplar, I use 1H/S for the utility, since the class is missing so much, you have to make up for it elsewhere. You can still have a nice tooltip with 1H/S. My Stamplar actually had higher Weapon Damage with a Nirn 1h/S equipped than a 2H equipped, since I ran Flawless DB on the 1H/S bar and used Invasion/Slam as my CC. Since I switched to Xbox however, I don't think I am going to bother taking another Stamplar up, since with next patch it is just going to simply be missing entirely too much. The class will basically have nothing to support a Stam build playstyle.

What is specifically changing next patch, aside from Race Against Time, that makes heavy armor a no-brainer?
