Earthgore has been nerfed in elsewyr.
It will now heal one person when proc’d and remove all ground aoe’s that it touches.

    here's a revolutionary thought.

leave it the *** alone, along with 3/4 (or more) of the other nerfs being breathlessly bandied about on this forum.

fix something that actually needs fixing, for once, there's no lack of issues.

having a problem with players using earthgore?

what is it you elites like to say, 'git gud?'

    yeah.that.

This is a good change for you becuase you were killed in pvp by people using earthgore and want it nerfed just like the people who refuse to use cloak counters want cloak nerfed or removed.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

After reading all the comments I’m pretty sure what people actually don’t like is healing in general. I’d bet that earthgore is a scape goat for bad pvp tactics.

I don’t really care if earthgore’s removed entirely, but I’m pretty sure once it’s nerfed into the ground and has no effect people will start looking for a new scape goat.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab

No, this is a good change because he got killed by people that get carried by a monster set. A set that is too easy to proc and too strong. A set that doesn't require any skill. A set that carries bad players.

Probably more like, ‘oh we don’t have a healer, let’s use earthgore’. Now people will log out and switch characters instead of using the set. Not a big issue though, new players have issues with that vet and likely have multiple 50s by the time they have the earthgore set.

Earthgore is a small part of a real healers output, most healers can pump out that much hps or more on a constant basis. If you think one set is the reason you haven’t been successful I’m pretty sure you’re not going to see a big change after the patch.

Firstly it has a very long 35s cooldown. If you can't kill an opponent in 35s then I suggest looking at your build, group composition and how you execute your skills. That monster set is useless for 35s, making every other set a better alternative.

This sounds like a zergling that's accustomed to dying in under 35 seconds every time they get caught away from their zerg.

It is really sad, this game is dying to me. The way they change one thing in PvP, they broke that same thing for PvE, and vice-versa, which is really sad and frustrating, you farm stuff to play the game and enjoy, then they come to change and your enjoy become frustration.

If they have the possiblity to make stuff work on one way on PvE and another way on PvP, balance all of it, so perhaps people would not complain so much about so many stuff and could have some fun instead of rage/etc.

I have lurked this forum regularly for over a year now, and this was the straw that broke the camel's back and made me sign up to the forum, because I'll be damned if I let you lot pass another devious nerf detrimental to PvE without giving you a piece of my mind. And I don't even know where to begin with this. The mere idea is infuriating, and the fact that it is being suggested by the same people who I helped or outright carried in farming this set is absolutely breathtaking in its audacity.

This set is the go-to for pretty much all healers in PvE, it's the golden standard where only some specific situations or builds necessitate that another monster set be used instead. It's the best emergency heal both in dungeons and trials that this game has. This set is also used by all stripes of tanks in all manner of functions, it's life-saving in difficult and resource-draining content. I've even run it on DDs when doing no-death runs in dungeons, including the very dungeon this set is farmed in, and even that sometimes wasn't enough. I keep this set in my bank at all times in all manner of weights and traits, just in case a situation arises and I need to slot it quickly. I have farmed this set to hell and back, simply because of how good it is. It is simply not something I want to casually give away on some people's whim.

So no, soft nerfs aren't going to be acceptable. Reducing either its strength of healing, speed of activation, amount of people it can heal or its area of effect will downgrade it to just another semi-usable monster set, as opposed to the absolute incomparable multi-tool that it now is. This set has been nerfed before and it's obvious that nothing will satisfy you people, because as much as you nerf something, some smartass will just find a way around it, because you're not dealing with just overpowered game mechanics, you're dealing with the collective intelligence of the PvP community, whose goal it is to exactly find something overpowered and gain a bleeding-edge advantage over other players. Nerfs like these will always be whined about, and it's always a blow to other aspects of the game. It frankly needs to stop.

Also, your problem isn't with Earthgore. I've seen Battleground matches that ended with the 15 minutes timer running out because of the amount of healing all teams used, and guess what, none of the people in those matches used Earthgore. They didn't need to. A well organized group doesn't need it, and a highly mobile group doesn't want it. Even in PvP this problem is limited to a very specific aspect of the game: zerg groups, something that has been problematic ever since the game's inception. Removing or nerfing Earthgore isn't the chemo to cure the cancer, it's just another band-aid on a gaping wound.

And so, if you are to be given your way, yet another aspect of PvE in a very long line of things is going to be nerfed simply because some of you overly loud PvPers can't be bothered to "git gud". All those hours I spent trying to finish this dungeon with essentially just one DD, because some PvPer decided to queue for it without even so much as saying hello, all those times I had to opt out of trying to do HM because I didn't have either the patience or the skill to finish Bloodroot Forge with the handicap that players running PvP build are in DLC dungeons, all those times I willingly gave up an Earthgore head with good trait and weight just because I believe in helping newer players, all of it makes me feel disgusted with myself now when I see some replies in this thread and threads like it, how casually you ask to destroy (not nerf, to destroy) a set I personally helped a few dozen of you acquire. I feel as if I have given money to a beggar only to see him buy cigarettes with it, without even so much as an apologetic look on his face.

The rift between PvP and PvE has obviously reached an all time high and the only viable and permanent solution that I see is segregation, either in part or in its entirety. You want to nerf Earthgore in PvP? Fine. Then ask that its main effect simply doesn't work in PvP any more.

The fact you describe this as being a "gold standard" is exactly why it should be nerfed. No monster set should be an automatic choice if every situation. That's the definition of something not being balanced. You should have different sets for different situations. Thank you for pointing out exactly why earthgore is a problem.

And for all the PvE players who insist Earthgore is fine let me remind you of why shields got nerfed. Shields were nerfed so healers felt more useful. Guess what. I havven't needed a healer in PvE since EARTHgore. A giant burst heal from a monster set on a TANK completely ELIMINATES the need for a healer in a most content. Since Earthgore it's been a complete joke to even think of a running a healer in hardly any 4 man content. I actually can't think of one piece of 4 man content I'd rather have a healer vs another dps THANKS to earthgore.

Earthgore isn't only a PvP issue, but an absolute joke in PvE. Entire mechanics, need for player skill or knowledge, and progression is thrown out the window when you can literally be AFK and have a monster set save your raid. It's a joke of a set. Way over tuned and the people defending it honestly need to take good hard look at themselves in the mirror if they think it's balanced how it is.

First, I use this on one of my characters in PVP, and I see people die through its proc all the time. Earthgore absolutely does not eliminate the need for healers. As for PVE, you are completely overstating Earthgore's power. Go afk? Have a monster set save your raid? Really? Most tanks I know don't need much in the way of healing anyway. Earthgore is wonderful for saving the squishies who get themselves into trouble, though.

Also, not sure why you're hung up on the gold standard term. That's like saying, "no no, I'll put down this Makita set and instead choose the 5.99 pink set they sell in the discount bin by checkout. Cause, you know, I have skillz and can work with anything." :smirk: I haven't seen Earthgore save a group all on its own. It is, however, a powerful tool, and I'll be sad to see it go.

The number of people saying that earthgore makes healers redundant in pve is absurd. It is clear that none of you have ever queued as a healer for vet dlc dungeons in group finder. Your statements may be true with a 50k+ dps group, but for the rest of the player base a healer is very much still needed.

Nerfing earthgore like they are makes it completely worthless for general use in PvE for me. Back to nightflame I guess.

Welcome back! I prefer nightflame anyways.

Brace for the ‘nerf nightflame threads’ because you’re going to still have crying from the ‘I spec for full damage with no defense or self healing, but keep losing in pvp. The issue can’t be me, it must be cheating and using OP healing abilities’ pvp noobs to find a new target.

One-shots or not, it's not difficult to keep several healing fields/buffs up, every dps and even tank who is blocking/dodging one-shots each several seconds do similar rotation. It's healer's skill to react if somebody's health abruptly went down. It's like a goalkeepers "save". Catch that ball. And earthgore catches that ball each 35 seconds for healer. Why we can't have something similar for tank - i.e. auto-dodge HA each 35 seconds if tank is not blocking or for dps, insta-burn that 500k HP mob each 35 seconds, etc? Oh pardon, not mob, group of mobs.

Your description of Earthgore is very overblown and exaggerated, firstly the cooldown period makes your reasoning not possible at all especially in Vet Trials. The fact you think Earthgore is over powered in PVE speaks to me as your lack of knowledge for endgame PVE game play.

I just did vBRP last week without a healer. Arguably the hardest 4 man content in the game currently. What's your qualifications?

Let me make this clear. I BEAT THE HARDEST FOUR MAN CONTENT without a HEALER because of a MONSTER SET by the name of EARTHGORE.

I will admit I've been out of the loop in the mini trials because I have no interest in them. I have cleared every other trial including maw and vhof. I'm pretty sure I have a decent understanding of PvE endgame. I'm no Alcast, but you don't need to be to understand Earthgore is busted.

All content can be completed without a healer and is besides the point.

Earth gore was good save set for healers that help new players to heal better. You already start to cry to nerf sets for noobs. Where is youe honor. Learn how to play already ! And stop cry about dunguan nerfs to. It is now so easy that booring and i stop going there anymore !

PLEASE ZoS, change it before the patch after this one, waiting that long for an Earthgore adjustment is literally torture :'c

You know what’s torture? People worrying about something that proc every 35 seconds (you need that long to kill someone?!) and that is affected by 50% health or less, and that most people in a fight run out of!

I don’t use it in PVP at all because why bother.

You shouldn’t be able to beat a large Zerg with just a few people and EG doesn’t matter in that people are running out of it all the time.

I’ve seen it myself - because I’m observant and not looking for a reason why I failed to throw blame onto.

Maybe you were outnumbered and EG didn’t change that.

Maybe you don’t slot chains which are available to all, EG didn’t change that.

Maybe you’re just not as good as you think.......’...’

Sure it’s an easy thing to complain about - but there will always be another thing until everyone’s just doing naked fisticuffs.

The more things you nerf the more things will seem op. It’s a never ending cycle.

I really cannot believe ZOS didn’t spine up and be all ‘l2p’ given that they have a lot more knowledge and experience with itemisation than most pvpers.

I cannot believe the nerfs have gone on as far as they have.

I've played this game since launch, I've seen broken and I've seen not broken, EG broken af. Asking for something to be balanced isn't complaining and it isn't wanting people to run around naked in Cyrodiil. In fact, EG encourages less skilled gameplay.

Trying to insult me is pretty catty too, getting ready for Elsweyr? Meow.

If you even stepped into PvP a couple of times a week, you would see how carried people are by EG. Or maybe you zerg surf your entire time in Cyrodiil so you don't even comprehend how it impacts different levels of play.

But as Irylia already said, there's no sense in explaining anything else to you if you can't understand why EG is even imbalanced in the first place.

I cannot believe the nerfs haven't gone further on this ezpz monster set to slap on.

you mean, like ppl got carried by things like

    Bloodspawn
    Valkyn
    Caluurion
    Poisons
    Sloads
    Viper
    Selene
    Pirate Skeleton
    Resto Healing Ult
    etc......

This game should have much more sets, that help groups. There are so many sets, that only buff your own build.
This is a MMO, there should be more group sets. If ppl want to play in a group in a MMO, they should have more Options.

I never lost a 1v1 against a player with Earthgore. And those ppl. who fight against an organized group with Erathgore are usually zerglings.

I have never seen good ppl. in PVP, who use this set.
I personally never used this set and never will, but I am ok with how it is.

Earthgore is fine as it is on live, with the new nerf there will be one more monster-set that will be usless, like so many others already are.

    Peace :)

Wow, so you quote the whole thing for a single lol.

Actually this was the first reasonable post on there. Most of the peeps here are waaay too focused on PvP and keep the PvE aspect out of the discussion, and as usual the game developers are dumb enough to listen to the PvP players, thus losing people on PvE. Well, if that's what it is, then ESO will just go WoW....

That said, the nerf is stupid, and yes, we got one more monster set no one is using anymore. Thanks for that, ZES. As usual, there is a target painted on something, and you turn around and just shoot in the other direction.

Earthgore for me is the poster child of some of ZOS's worst combat design decisions. Just so happens that it is in the healing space. There are several others as well such as Forward Momentum etc. They sort of fall into the "what the heck were they even thinking" category.

Of course the new capability of soaking up an AOE overally punishes certain classes and play styles that are already notably lacking or receiving a ton of nerfs from other directions as well. Magicka, Magden, especially Ice Mages tend to be AOE oriented.

Will Earthgore remove Caltrips? Hail? Other Stamina AOEs? Anyone know?

    Bogdan deserves a nerf too.
I used to think that PvP was a tragedy, but now I realize, it's a comedy.
