Earthgore

Proposal:
Think we can sneak a earthgore nerf in to this next pts cycle for the upcoming patch?
Rather not wait 3-4 months and the change could be minor.
Earthgore procs when an ally drops below 60% hp and only heals that target. (Earthgore no longer aoe heal but a 1 person top off save)

Pve:
Still effective in pve where you may want it for your tank or to catch a dd who messed up a mechanic. Many instances where your group may not be stacked in pve anyways and earthgore is only healing one. When you are stacked it gives healers more value because their heal rotation makes more of a difference than an earthgore doing a large part of the lifting.

Reason:
Currently earthgore is minimizing organized raids risks and enables large groups of pugs to be saved when they should otherwise die to a single/smaller group.

You’ll see multiple pop off during a push and the players benefitting from it will be laying in the pool of blood clinging onto life. When 4-8 are appearing it enables players to make many mistakes and worry less about improving.

Issues with cd + ult gen:
With how short of a cd it is on it’s essentially impossible to generate the ultimate to hit them before earthgore is back up.
35 sec cd on earthgore

Bloodspawn proc 5x (off cd back to back in a 30 sec time period)
75 ult
And not everyone is using this 2x

Class passives/minor heroism/passive ult gen.

bloodspawn 15 ult 6 sec = 75 ult/30s (if perfect uptime and procs back to back 5x)
Passive ult gen 3 ult 1 sec = 90 ult/30s
Minor heroism 1 ult 1.5 sec = 20 ult/30s
Dawns wrath 3 ult 6 seconds = 15 ult /30s

75+90+20+15=200 ult 30 seconds with perfect uptime on
Minor heroism/dawnswrath/bs

Not every class can afford to run bs or can receive minor heroism unless using sb low slash/2h carve

If we remove the bs ult gen and for the sake of argument assume your rotations are perfect and you can keep up heroism/dawnswrath you are pushing it to reach even a db before the earthgore returns and have 5 seconds to spare before it is completely off of cd.
This makes getting any larger costing ultimates, before eg cd is over, nova/sleet/standard/destro/negate essentially impossible

With the suggestion to healing one ally it won’t be overwhelmingly oppressive to number differences during fights. It will still provide pve a clutch heal for mechanics and some pvp groups with options to catch a players mistake and help prevent them from dying if chained from group or caught out of the group.

Excellent post especially with respect to ult gen. The main argument for earthgore staying as is is because of the "long cooldown", but most classes do not have the ultgen to get an ult back before the earthgore is off of cooldown, so it's constantly throwing meteors/standards etc into earthgore.

I have a clip where I was 1 v 2'ing on my magplar and used a soul assault on a guy and earthgore proc'd. by the time i got back to my soul assault earthgore was off of cooldown. You can't keep perfect ultgen up when you're outnumbered and some classes/builds do not build ult like others.

I would prefer it if it didn't heal at all. make it a temporary aoe purge of effects(not ults), or provide aoe healing received to those in the area. I would prefer the aoe healing received because it would still be useful in pve and pvp, and it would require players to do something to benefit from the set, not just wear it and have it proc a life saving heal.

You know what’s torture? People worrying about something that proc every 35 seconds (you need that long to kill someone?!) and that is affected by 50% health or less, and that most people in a fight run out of!

I don’t use it in PVP at all because why bother.

You shouldn’t be able to beat a large Zerg with just a few people and EG doesn’t matter in that people are running out of it all the time.

I’ve seen it myself - because I’m observant and not looking for a reason why I failed to throw blame onto.

Maybe you were outnumbered and EG didn’t change that.

Maybe you don’t slot chains which are available to all, EG didn’t change that.

Maybe you’re just not as good as you think.......’...’

Sure it’s an easy thing to complain about - but there will always be another thing until everyone’s just doing naked fisticuffs.

The more things you nerf the more things will seem op. It’s a never ending cycle.

I really cannot believe ZOS didn’t spine up and be all ‘l2p’ given that they have a lot more knowledge and experience with itemisation than most pvpers.

I cannot believe the nerfs have gone on as far as they have.

Possibly make earthgore only spawn when an ultimate is used by it's wielder. That way it is not a braindead auto "save me an my whole raid" proc and requires some thought to use?

It needs to proc off direct healing only.

The amount of times I chunk 5 dudes for 70% of their HP just to see 3-4 EGs go off even though there isn't a single heal on the floor because of that stupid resilient passive proccing EG.....

I've played this game since launch, I've seen broken and I've seen not broken, EG broken af. Asking for something to be balanced isn't complaining and it isn't wanting people to run around naked in Cyrodiil. In fact, EG encourages less skilled gameplay.

Trying to insult me is pretty catty too, getting ready for Elsweyr? Meow.

If you even stepped into PvP a couple of times a week, you would see how carried people are by EG. Or maybe you zerg surf your entire time in Cyrodiil so you don't even comprehend how it impacts different levels of play.

But as Irylia already said, there's no sense in explaining anything else to you if you can't understand why EG is even imbalanced in the first place.

I cannot believe the nerfs haven't gone further on this ezpz monster set to slap on.

Why not make it only effect the caster and 11 other ppl? Then put the ability to be effected by the heal it gives on the same C/D of the set that healed them? Now its still useful in PvE and PvP and cant be stacked?

I have lurked this forum regularly for over a year now, and this was the straw that broke the camel's back and made me sign up to the forum, because I'll be damned if I let you lot pass another devious nerf detrimental to PvE without giving you a piece of my mind. And I don't even know where to begin with this. The mere idea is infuriating, and the fact that it is being suggested by the same people who I helped or outright carried in farming this set is absolutely breathtaking in its audacity.

This set is the go-to for pretty much all healers in PvE, it's the golden standard where only some specific situations or builds necessitate that another monster set be used instead. It's the best emergency heal both in dungeons and trials that this game has. This set is also used by all stripes of tanks in all manner of functions, it's life-saving in difficult and resource-draining content. I've even run it on DDs when doing no-death runs in dungeons, including the very dungeon this set is farmed in, and even that sometimes wasn't enough. I keep this set in my bank at all times in all manner of weights and traits, just in case a situation arises and I need to slot it quickly. I have farmed this set to hell and back, simply because of how good it is. It is simply not something I want to casually give away on some people's whim.

So no, soft nerfs aren't going to be acceptable. Reducing either its strength of healing, speed of activation, amount of people it can heal or its area of effect will downgrade it to just another semi-usable monster set, as opposed to the absolute incomparable multi-tool that it now is. This set has been nerfed before and it's obvious that nothing will satisfy you people, because as much as you nerf something, some smartass will just find a way around it, because you're not dealing with just overpowered game mechanics, you're dealing with the collective intelligence of the PvP community, whose goal it is to exactly find something overpowered and gain a bleeding-edge advantage over other players. Nerfs like these will always be whined about, and it's always a blow to other aspects of the game. It frankly needs to stop.

Also, your problem isn't with Earthgore. I've seen Battleground matches that ended with the 15 minutes timer running out because of the amount of healing all teams used, and guess what, none of the people in those matches used Earthgore. They didn't need to. A well organized group doesn't need it, and a highly mobile group doesn't want it. Even in PvP this problem is limited to a very specific aspect of the game: zerg groups, something that has been problematic ever since the game's inception. Removing or nerfing Earthgore isn't the chemo to cure the cancer, it's just another band-aid on a gaping wound.

And so, if you are to be given your way, yet another aspect of PvE in a very long line of things is going to be nerfed simply because some of you overly loud PvPers can't be bothered to "git gud". All those hours I spent trying to finish this dungeon with essentially just one DD, because some PvPer decided to queue for it without even so much as saying hello, all those times I had to opt out of trying to do HM because I didn't have either the patience or the skill to finish Bloodroot Forge with the handicap that players running PvP build are in DLC dungeons, all those times I willingly gave up an Earthgore head with good trait and weight just because I believe in helping newer players, all of it makes me feel disgusted with myself now when I see some replies in this thread and threads like it, how casually you ask to destroy (not nerf, to destroy) a set I personally helped a few dozen of you acquire. I feel as if I have given money to a beggar only to see him buy cigarettes with it, without even so much as an apologetic look on his face.

The rift between PvP and PvE has obviously reached an all time high and the only viable and permanent solution that I see is segregation, either in part or in its entirety. You want to nerf Earthgore in PvP? Fine. Then ask that its main effect simply doesn't work in PvP any more.

But it's not. I raid healed for 3+ years, competitively, have plenty of scores, no death achievements (tick-tock, first group to get immortal redeemer, etc. etc. etc.) and only within the past month have stepped out of PvE because I can't attend raid times anymore. The go-to for pretty much all healers right now is Bogdan or Sentinel in trials. The only trial where it is extremely effective is vAS on tank kiter.

That being said, yes, tanks do use it, but the suggestion given by the poster of this thread goes in line with keeping it as an emergency heal in PvE.

Sure, ZoS could separate, but they're not going to, so why should something run wild in PvP ruining it. PvP is just as important as PvE. I think both sides need to realize that both sides are important to the game. So if a set needs to be toned down for one end of the content, let it be done so while leaving it still having use in the other.

We've asked for Earthgore to at least have something disabled or modified in PvP. They have not done it.

You said it yourself.. if EG is a golden standard, and absolutely incomparable multitool BiS for any healing situation, it is unbalanced and overpowered by definition.

I strongly agree that it shouldn't be able to provide more healing than an ultimate while being on a shorter cooldown than most classes can prepare another burst+ult.

Proc sets need to be balanced around player stats for one. Still there is a definite middle group between "Another useless set or a set where you just won't equip it because its so situational and it isn't any better than the regular sets" and Un-fun in PvP <it honestly is fine in PvE>.

I do like the fact it acts as a quick save. High end groups generally won't use it as they don't need to quick save themselves, but lower end groups will make use of it.

    EG is not broken.

Firstly it has a very long 35s cooldown. If you can't kill an opponent in 35s then I suggest looking at your build, group composition and how you execute your skills. That monster set is useless for 35s, making every other set a better alternative.

Secondly it is mitigated by heal debuffs. I've seen combat logs with EG proccing in the 100s after debuff. Hardly an issue for a good group.

Thirdly, it's a proc. It can proc on some pug and get wasted. It can proc while moving making the ground hot mostly useless. There is a lot of things that can go wrong with this set. If someone decides to bomb and EG procs that's fine, it's exactly why EG exists. For everything else EG is not a big deal.

If you've been playing the same build since day dot then sure it's broken. If you have adapted then it's easily countered.

What is broken is the in combat mechanic bug that has put a major setback on the whole eso pvp community. Can't mount, can't port, can't /stuck, can't stealth, can't change skills or quickslots, groups get broken up, keeps get taken, map gets broken, all because of this one bug. Many players have and will continue to quit. That is a far more important issue to deal with. afaiac zos should have the whole pvp team fixing this asap.

Do you know how long even just two competent players can be in a fight together? 35s is an extremely short time when it comes to setting up proper ult bursts between groups unless you're going up against raw potatoes. Considering it breathes new life into an entire raid, it ought to have been given the Phoenix treatment.

Firstly it has a very long 35s cooldown. If you can't kill an opponent in 35s then I suggest looking at your build, group composition and how you execute your skills. That monster set is useless for 35s, making every other set a better alternative.

You don't need ults to proc eg fyi. Think outside the box.

I have lurked this forum regularly for over a year now, and this was the straw that broke the camel's back and made me sign up to the forum, because I'll be damned if I let you lot pass another devious nerf detrimental to PvE without giving you a piece of my mind. And I don't even know where to begin with this. The mere idea is infuriating, and the fact that it is being suggested by the same people who I helped or outright carried in farming this set is absolutely breathtaking in its audacity.

welcome to the forums. The fact that you had to carry people for this set speaks to their skill level. I am not saying this to be insulting, it's just that there is much, much harder content out there and carrying people for this specific set shows that they would need this set for the harder content.

I don't doubt any of this for one second. However, you're proving our point when you make this claim. This set is SO powerful that it becomes BIS for groups trying to complete no death content, for tanks, dds and healers. This is a strictly healer set, but its proc is so good dds and tanks can use it. That is the definition of imbalance.
So no, soft nerfs aren't going to be acceptable. Reducing either its strength of healing, speed of activation, amount of people it can heal or its area of effect will downgrade it to just another semi-usable monster set, as opposed to the absolute incomparable multi-tool that it now is...more stuff about EG is really strong, PVP sucks, etc

I think we all agree that soft nerfs are not acceptable because this set literally is a multi-tool, used by every role in the game. You can get mad at PvP pointing out the imbalance all you want, but you're just confirming what we're saying once again...this set is good for EVERYONE.
Also, your problem isn't with Earthgore.

    It's with earthgore.
And so, if you are to be given your way, yet another aspect of PvE in a very long line of things is going to be nerfed simply because some of you overly loud PvPers can't be bothered to "git gud". All those hours I spent trying to finish this dungeon

This dungeon isn't really that hard, there is much, much more difficult content out there. Perhaps you could take your own advice and "git gud" at healing, or dpsing or tanking so that this content isn't so hard and you wouldn't feel attacked by the potential loss of a monster set.
The rift between PvP and PvE has obviously reached an all time high and the only viable and permanent solution that I see is segregation, either in part or in its entirety. You want to nerf Earthgore in PvP? Fine. Then ask that its main effect simply doesn't work in PvP any more.

It took until the end, but I agree with this.

You don't need ults to proc eg fyi. Think outside the box.

You don't need to do anything to have EG proc on your group, it will just proc on the person that needs it the most. Whether you're having a few beers on a friday night, really tired after a 12 hour emp push, randomly grinding emp yourself etc...this set doesn't get tired and it will always help the guy getting bursted.

The only two ways to counter this set are to outburst it(some classes don't have that capability...looking at you mag dks), or you defile it. There's an issue with a set when only a few specs can counter a proc.

Also, sometimes when you're fighting even slightly outnumbered, the other group has so many healers the only way you will do damage to kill them is with ults, and that's where EG saves people once again.

The set is a carry, for literally every class, every spec, all content in the game. That is imbalance, no matter how much you want to keep the set as it is.

Pvp and pve would be better off if they were to remove this set and the new cursed set from the game.
