Map Pins by Hoft, S’rendarr by Phinix & co. and Craftstore Fixed and Improved. Can’t live without them. Map Pins combined Lorebooks, Destinations, Lost Treasure and Skyshards for me.

Followed by Raid Notifier, Untaunted, and then Auto Invite.

They absolutely can be considered to be borderline cheating. I literally just did it. I'm still doing it.

You get access to information that people without the addons either don't have or have to spend much more time looking for. Particularly when talking about the addons that provide pricing information about the guild traders.

Besides, they cheapen the experience. They eliminate the sense of discovery in a lot of cases or give that unfair advantage. Not to mention when they break after an update or just flat out corrupt game data.

Nope. I'm not using them and I'm not impressed by anyone that does. They should all be banned.

I don't like something so therefore it should be banned for everyone

There are a bunch I couldn't live without:

Awesome Guild Store ... up until now, but ZOS is still missing functionality. Waiting for this to come out of Wrathstone beta.
Master Merchant or Arkadiusz trade tools.
FTC (turn off the scrolling combat text and performance is fine)
Miat's PvP alerts (only for the nearby resource summary and player counters features)
BuffTimers (old, but still works and very configurable). If not that, then Action Duration Reminder.
Dressing Room or Wykkyd Outfitter (the latter is old and clunky, but slightly more flexible)
    Auto Category (inventory management)
    Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter
    Inventory Insight
Magic Carpet (to get around houses while building)
    Map Pins (has Psijic rifts)
    MultiCraft
    Dustman

Most addons for me are just for convenience. But three things I need that the game doesn't offer by default, so these are must have addons for me.

    1. I get easily lost (specifically in dungeons), so a MiniMap is absolutely necessary.

    2. Health bars which decrease from both sides when you get damage are simply irritating to me - my head interprets what I see there differently than what is actually meant. And displaying not the actual resource numbers but rounding them to the nearest thousands is also not to my liking. Thus any addon that allows for different attribute bars and information display is also necessary, like LUI or BanditsUI. These addons do more than just that but their attribute displays are the main reason I use them.

    3. I need to be able to see my current local time on the screen without having to open any special interface. So a clock is the third addon that's a must have for me.

I use a lot of add-ons. Here is the list of the ones that I think are absolutely a must have for me.
If the game is going to break the compatibility for one or more of these add-ons, I'm not sure I could continue to play anymore.

    - Inventory Insight (I've 15 alts, without this add-on inventory management would be a nightmare)
    - Dolgubon's LazyWrit Crafter (I do daily writs on 8 alts, it speeds up the process a lot)
    - MapPins (for the Psijic quest line, which is sooooooooooo boring, helps you find the portals faster)
    - Assist Rapid Raiding (absolutely a MUST on every toon when you go around collecting SkyShards / Lorebooks)
    - AlphaGear 2 (I like it more than Outfitter. You really need to have AlphaGear OR Outfitter on every alt, in order to be able to quickly switch between different setups)
    - FCO Item Saver (useful for classifying different sets with a different color, to mark which items I want to keep, which ones I want to sell, which one I want to upgrade, which one I want to deconstruct, etc.)
    - Advanced Filter (in order to be able to quickly filter and look for a specific item category in your inventory)
    - Awesome Guild Stores (I'm part of 4 trading guilds. It was absolutely a must have before the revamp of the guild store default interface, it's still worth having it because it makes the process of searching and selling items in guild stores much faster. Thank you @sirinsidiator for your beautiful addon)
    - Master Merchant (you need to have it if you are a member of any trading guilds)
    - Tamriel Trade Centre addon (in order to automatically list items you put on sale on TTC Website)
    - Raid Notifier (helps you a lot in trials)
    - Lost Treasure (useful for surveys and treasures)
    - Srendarr (for buff management)
    - HideRaidNotify Spam (to suppress these annoying notifications)
    - AutoInvite (in order to automatically manage the group creation/management while in Cyrodiil)
    - GroupLootNotifier
    - HomePort & HousePort (to quickly access that beautiful, gorgeous and extremely useful home @Ireenicus made available to us PC EU players)
    - Skyshards
    - Lorebooks

Thank you @Tasear for a helpful thread! I use some of the mentioned add ons and would like to commend Pet Dismiss. Makes it easy to be a courteous summoner in towns.

As far as the side debate about using add ons or not, the purpose of this thread is to mention helpful addons. For those who want to debate the merits of using addons or not, may I humbly suggest creating a separate thread for that? It seems to me that most folks reading this thread have already made their choice and are simply looking for helpful addons.

There are more addons I actually use, but since the thread is for most important addons, here are most important ones:
    1. Action Duration Reminder (must be a built-in feature in any MMORPG and I have no idea why ESO doesn't have its built-in ability cooldowns&uptimes counter).
    2. Srendarr (advanced (de)buff tracker, ESO's built-in tracker is useless compared to Srendarr).
    3. Advanced Filters, Auto Category - Custom Inventory Categories (these two are turning your bag with a mess inside into an actual inventory where everything is sorted out and easy to manage).

I should probably start looking for an alternative to Wykkyd's Outfitter.
I'd recommend Dressing Room. There's also the Alpha Gear 2, but it was glitchy for me, when I switched abilities I was getting both bars fulfilled with the same abilities very often and I had to reset them manually then. Dressing Room works great, never had any issues.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

That description just about matches any DLC. They're not part of the base game, so some players don't have them. The sets dropped give much more advantage than any of the add-ons.

Apart from Craft Store, just about all I run add content to my map, so I can better plan my itinerary. They don't show anything that won't be visible in normal play, just put it on the map, so I can see what's in the area I'm going to.

Advance UI, yes its old and its creator abandoned it long ago. Thankfully i'm not its only fan and other have posted bug fixes for it.
What i love most of it is its mini map. Before that i actually got lost all the time. Never knew in what direction i was going at all.
But with that mini map i never get lost. not even in dungeons. because destinations (another addon) added sooo many extra map icons that i never miss a delve boss simply because its dead and not spawned yet.
What are Natch Potes? Can you eat those?

Wow I guess I'm a filthy cheater now!? smh. It's better than being a filthy jealous console scrub any day of the week :p

I actually don't like having to use mods and keep it to a minimum for performance and integrity reasons. I'd much rather see the features from the most popular ones be integrated into the base game where it's completely lacking (so the peasants can even live a little too).

Other than the obligatory Skyshard and Lorebook types, I'd say the most important ones on my list are Advanced Filters, Azurah, Bandits Gear Manager, Greymind Quick Slot Bar, Srendarr and Unlimited Camera Zoom. I would hate to have to play without these.

ESO is an Elder Scrolls game. You're playing Elder Scrolls games wrong if you don't have mods installed.
    barney2525 wrote: »
In Baldurs Gate they ARE called Cheats. But the word "Cheats" is Not a bad word UNLESS the company does Not want you to use them.

In Baldur's Gate, the developer/debug console was called "cheats". That is a different thing. BG didn't have official mod ("addon") support, that was all fan work after the fact. (They very helpfully stored much of their data in easily accessible formats, though.)

    @ topic

Too many to mention. Minimap (currently Votan's), pricing addons (MM or ATT+TTC), AUI (better unit frames but ESO style), gear/skill swapping (AlphaGear)...
