But you did not add at least Russian translation in game.
That for the relation such? Your think us conveniently to play in English? We have of course an add-on on russification, but not everything is translated there.
I hope someone from developers will see this message.
Probably there will be mistakes in my message, sorry, i not so ideally know your language.

I suspect that they chose which languages to support based on sales of previous TES games. Currently it seems that only 4 languages are supported: English, English (international/UK, since we didn't fight the Revolution to share forums with those lobsterback redcoats), German, and French. The fourth most widely spoken language, Spanish, would be the most logical next step. The problem for Russian isn't just that a new language would have to be supported but a completely different alphabet, too.

Your best option would probably be to get involved with the current addon that you spoke of, and help push it forward.
There is no point in the developer repeating all the work that has already been done in the Russian language addon, as it sounds quite advanced in its progress.

Not enough russian players play the game, hence it doesn't warrant the translation. So CFO at zenimax media did the math and decided that it isn't profitable to make the translation. It really is that simple, even though that might sound a bit cynical.

That's what utf-8 is for. And if that isn't enough, use utf8mb4 ...

PS: I've added some Russian language support to my AddOn, but i rely on other players to help me translate to other languages, which makes for a slow and painful process.

PPS: Localization of a full game is no trivial task, it takes a lot of time and resources.

They will make a russian translation when russian players will start accepting to play as a community, not like if everybody should adapt to them
I litteraly see that only with russian player, they caplock in general chat stuff nobody understand.
and when you have a russian in your trial group or pug, it's always the same things, always talk in russian when litteraly everybody ask them to speak english but still continue to writte in russian

You are correct about a Spanish translation in the game but it is a poor choice to suggest people just learn English. There is nothing wrong with asking for a Russian translation in the game, but something is wrong to suggest everyone should know English.

I expect you are in NA. Most that live in E & W Europe know more languages than those in the USA.

Your problem is that you think that all Russian-speaking players are only those who write in сyrillic in chat. There are more of us than you think, because most of us write in English or do not write anything. You only notice those who don't deserve attention and you take your anger out on good people.
Just deal with it and learn english, it will be super useful for many things in your life
If it is so important, why the game was translated into German, French and Japanese? :p

As a person who has some experiance in translation I can say for sure that even after 3 years of working with the English text, I still do not fully understand quests in this game. And now I'm not talking about the objectives of quests or their general essence, I can't feel the RPG atmosphere. I can't get what character think about something or what he/she feel, it's impossible because I see a lot of unfamiliar words and figures of speech. In the end, I get tired of a foreign language and just want to relax and having before my eyes a language I know all my life. Yes, we have an addon, and I always finding an untranslated pieces. :D
There's impossible just to "teach" language. You have to spend a years to know everything. Chatting and reading in literary American English are different things.

As an official translation we've getting only subtitles in videos from Bethesda Softworks Russia in YouTube (thanks to them). ZoS can't translate because of out of specialists, and the largest Russian localization companies pervert MMO projects, introducing pay-to-win system and just killing them with agressive donation. With all my wishes sometimes to understand speech without subtitles (some lines haven't subs, sometimes subs are bugged and don't shows), I don't want localization that will turns TESO into pay-to-win monster with pathetic 2-days-recorded voice acting.

Looks like a bit of an ethnic discrimination to me. Not that I completely disagree with your statements (because I see my felow countrymen act like that sometimes), but still you literally say that it's only Russians who do that.
See, in zone chat I see German, Finnish, Greek and some other languages I couldn't recognize, and I don't recall somebody ever have been asking them to speak English instead. At the same time, when it's Russian language, people usually start to ask them to stop. It's odd, don't you think?
Speaking about group instances, well, I've encountered some really rude and ignorant Russian guys there, and yes, they are S-holes for sure. But it's not like all of us are the same. The most of time, I don't even know that other players in my group are Russians, unless I look at their nicknames/IDs (some of them are Russian words written with Latin letters), or they accidentially type "gg, thanks all" in Cyrillic keyboard layout (which turns into "ппб ерфтлы фдд" which is just a random letters in Russian). And I'm certain, you 've seen a lot of Russians in your PUG groups as well, but you just don't know they were Russians.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

Well, if I saw that I would say them there is EN-zone as well, so if they want English-only chat then they should go to EN-zone. Common zone chat is for all languages, it never was English-only and will never be.

Awesome for you from a secret Russian player. Secret means I never speak Russian in any public game chat - zone or guild. Whispers only, and this is fun sometimes. Me and the other player trying to talk in English, but we both suspect something because of bad English... and here we are, both from Russia :D

Beware, you can accidentally break someone's picture of the world by such bold statements. Ah, I remember a long dialogue in the game chat with one girl from the USA. When she found out that I'm both Russian and communist, she thought that I'm joking. Russians never joke. Poor thing.

Agreed. Personally, I play in English, but a friend of mine use RuESO addon and he is quite pleased with its quality. I doubt that any official translation would be any better than fan-made one Russian community provide. Besides, have at least some respect to the enormous work people made without any mercantile interest.

One more thing. An off topic, but anyway. Devs, if you're reading this, and I hope you do, could you finally find some time to fix the Cyrillic? Pretty please? Why should we all should use an addon to protect eyes о т э т о г о  у ж а с н о г о ш р и ф т а ? How often should I remind you about this to make it happen? Really, it's absurd.

I'll tell you. Every time I'm in Stonefalls, or Vivec, or Summerset, I see this in zone chat:
    - Р у с с к и е е с т ь ? (Any Russians here?)
    - Д а (Yep)
    - &*@#^! (Strong language obviously expressing joy)
Next comes a dialogue in a strong language only. In Russian. A lot of non-Russian players understand it, too - Poland, Czech, many other former USSR countries and neighbours, and even some EU players who learn Russian.

And you know what? I speak English and German, a bit less Spanish and Italian. And I never saw something like this in English, German, Spanish or Italian in 4 years. Weird, eh?

Unless your native tongue is already English. Then learning a second one becomes an optional choice instead of a useful necessity. Schools barely even give the electives. Mine had Spanish and French. Tried French for a semester, failed it because of the Homework. Never went back.

Well voice acting would be an issue in other languages as it'd require employing new voice actors it'd be easier just to have options for subtitles in other languages for those who may need or want this.

I'm French, I play MMORPG since a very long time when all of them was English.
I was very, very bad at school in English lesson.
But, when you play, it's all different. You learn little by little and it's fast and easy cuz at 1st you just need few word to understand and speak with other for trade/dg/pvp (skill name, dungeon name, useful item name..).
Then, by doing quest, craft and all other activity and speaking with people (or writing) you start to learn w/o even notice it !

Now I can speak and write, not perfect at all, sure, but far enough to be understand and understand what I ear/read.
English is very easy to learn in game cuz : you love playing.
No one ask the OP to learn a perfect English.

Trust me, start with a translator for all new word, and little by little you won't even need it, even if you don't know the word you just gonna catch the sense and it's enough.

@OP : I know it can be a pain the 1st few day, but in the long run you will be glad to learn some word.

Also, a bit out of subject, I still don't understand why, in this modern era, we still don't have a international unique language mandatory to school (I know they exist already but no one seem to care)

In fact, I do. I have learnt three lenguages and know you have to dedicate time and effort, but it's totally worth it. I'd encourage everyone to learn al least two lenguages, english and spanish. That opens many possibilities in today's world. It is an effort we all can do, and, let's be realistic, from a linguistic perspective english is a very simple lenguage.
