Cannot find the right subscription plan

I was able to get on to the page that lists subscription plans, but all it had was the 30, 60, and 90 day plans, all of which cost additional money. I do not want any of those. I want to sign up for the "0 day" play, wherein I get my 30 days I PAID FOR and then am not charged any additional amount. Where is that option to be found. If I do not get the 30 days I paid for without signing up for additional charges then I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau at some point next week.

I need an answer to this one, I cannot log in until it is resolved.

Hi, ohoni. To get access to your initial 30 days, you have to select one of the listed subscription plans (30, 60, or 90 day plan). You'll need to supply a valid payment option (game time card, credit card, or debit card). Once applied, Zenimax will do a payment verification to your credit card, if applicable (a temporary $14.99 charge that will be removed once verification is complete). You can then take advantage of your 30 free days. Remember to cancel your subscription before or on the 30th day to ensure you are not billed.

I don't want to sign up for a 30 day subscription because I don't intend to have a 30 day subscription. I do not want to give them my credit card information because they have no need for it. All I want is my 30 days, not to sign up for a subscription only to cancel it later. That just seems like a bait and switch waiting to happen. It'd be like going into a McDonalds and ordering a meal, only to refuse to pay when they deliver it.

Look, I bought the game, I have a game code, I just want to enter it and continue playing without having to give any credit card info or signing up for a subscription I have no intention of paying for.

You're not alone. There are several other threads on the same topic, including a few that are arguing the nuances of the license small print.

Looks like some people had success by working with customer support to get a temporary 1-day access and activation of their 30 days. You'd have to check with customer support, though, to see if your situation qualifies by their criteria.

The BBB isn't going to give a crap.

This was provided with my subscription information: "By making your purchase today, which includes early access plus an initial 30 days of game play, you have acknowledged that this game requires you to enter into a paid subscription plan. A valid and accepted payment method is required to play. The first 30 days of unlimited game play begins when you select your preferred subscription plan (but not prior to game launch) on https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/store. After your initial 30 days of included access, a subscription will cost [Your Plan Cost Here] per month. Subscription fees will only be charged for game access after the first 30 days, subject to cancellation by you at any time. No refunds or credits for partial months. You can also choose to pay for your subscription with a Game Time Card purchased at participating retailers, subject to availability. "

    You have two options.
1: If you don't like the policy, you don't have to play. Request a refund through support and/or get a chargeback through whomever you paid for your game for.
2: Pay the fee (Which you aren't actually getting charged for) & play the game.

It seems silly to buy a game only to take advantage of the free month & then have a useless game you (likely) won't be able to return or re-sell.

This is how they sell collectible state quarters and other junk through mail-order catalogs. This is not how people should be paying for a subscription to a game that is ALSO something you pay for out-of-the-box. @ohoni is totally right here. There should be, and yet is not, the choice to opt-out of

they did say that if you contact customer support that they will give an exception, however I can no longer find that post.

Well, most games I buy I'm done with in a month anyways, except for GW2 which I've played almost two years now. I mean Skyrim I got tired of in about a month, ACIV I was tired of in a month, Bioshock Infinite I finished in about a week and a half, so while I'll want to continue playing it after a month, I won't $75 want to continue playing it after a month, and while I might want to play it after three months, I certainly wouldn't $105 want to play it after three months, I really have better things to do with my time.

If the game never goes F2P, which is just highly improbable, then I will be content with having played the free month, but come on, it's 2014, the game is going to be F2P soon enough.

Thanks for the advice about Customer Service, it would probably have been far cheaper for them to just not have required you to contact CS to get this done though.

I sent an email to customer service, and while I've received three "take a CS survey" emails so far, I've yet to get an actual "here's how you can play the game" email.

Maybe that is the game??? You are caught in the Oblivion realm Survynnia, ruled by Serviecio, daedric lord of customer service.
  • zshadez_ESO
You've gotten the answer on how to play already. On the game box and retailer site it literally says that you need to sign up for a subscription in order to play. There were no surprises pulled in this, and if you didn't bother to read it you have only yourself to blame.

The CS response on this is intolerable. They get back to me once every 24 hours or so to ask one question, which I answer, and then they take another 24 hours to get back to me with a completely different question. At this rate it'll take them months to get this resolved.
  • zshadez_ESO
That's likely because they're flooded with actual support issues which come before your childish sense of entitlement.

You folks complaining about CS time do realize there are literally thousands of people with various customer service issues right now, don't you? Some are billing related, some are in-game issues, some are technical issues but they all need to be taken care of. Have patience and they will get to you. I have worked in customer service for 30+ years. I know that at mega rush times like this you csr people just do their best to get through things as best they can.

Oh, so now it involves a childish sense of entitlement when someone pays for a service, is denied said service, and then seeks a reasonable solution to the problem? Interesting.

News flash - everyone on these forums paid for the game. The issue of the OP not being able to play the game he/she has paid for is just as important as the issue of others who have problems with their physical copy who are unable to play the game they have paid for, or those who are already in-game because they are comfortable with a recurring credit-card subscription, who have quest problems/bug issues.

We all paid for the game. Those of us who prefer to pay for subsequent months after our 30 days we've purchased end, via game card, are being treated unfairly, and we want a solution or a refund. Simple.

They would probably have a lot less of them if they didn't insist on getting credit card information that they don't need from players who are just trying to continue playing the 30 days they've already paid for. They messed their bed, they have to lie in it, that's not our fault and should not be our problem.
  • vengeful_batosai
Like there are not 3 million threads about this already. You could have read 1 of those posts to know what you have to do to get your 30 days free. Now if that is the only issue your having you need to calm down and go take a nap cause you sound like a over privileged child. "I want it my way or im going to tell!!!"There are people having actual issues that will not allow them to play. and your crying about having to place your cc on file. its not going to change champ

This is not "entitlement" to expect to get what you've paid for. That is basic commerce. I paid for thirty days, I expect to get 30 days, and this runaround to do it is just bait and switch tactics.

Ok, I was finally able to get an access code and log in. It's worth noting that hirelings do not keep giving you stuff if you leave them along for several days in a row.
