Wowowowow, what?? o.O They never said that we are going to loose items or anything like that. So why does it feel like we need to clear out on everything besides essentials. Do we really have to go into some emergency mode?

I will go through my stuff and sell stuff I don't want or need. But otherwise I'm good. I'm not certain about the lengths of any loading screen. It will take as long as it takes.

Though deleting addons may be a good idea. Since their gonna change code and the addon developers may need to update the addons for them to work after this update.

Where did you get the thought that you had to "empty" your bank and inventory ?
The official post on this never said that...it was clear out excess items and take all your mail attachments.

All I'm going to do is make sure my mail is clear on all toons and disable my addons when I log out Sunday night.

Haven't had to do this with any expansion or DLC in over four years. Sure as heck not going to do it now. It has never affected my login time and I don't expect to see any significant change with this DLC.

    this right here.

the only specific plan i have is to log in hours before I'll actualy be getting around to playing so that while I'm doing something else, the game has a chance to load without majorly inconveniencing me. stuff i have stored - is store for a reason. if i wanted to get rid of it, it would already be gone. Nah we will not loose any items, the only reason people are complaining about this is because they have nothing else to do. Much easier to just do something else

When this comes to console it could cause me a lot of problems.

Not because I'd be selling anything, rather I'd be trying to buy up any good stuff dumped by other players............

No you will not loose any items, the only reason people are complaining about this is because they have nothing else to do. It's a one time thing and you'll not loose anything, it can take a long time for you to log in, but do as most people will do, do something else like watch a movie or go do some chores in real life.

We can only hope that nothing happens to our inventories, since we had a number of times before with items disappearing from the bank or storage. I don't want to cause any panic, but its only reasonable that people want to prepare in some way for that.

As for me, I think it was high time to clean up my inventories to prepare for the Anniversary event. Feels nice to have around 1000 empty inventory slots more across my chars. I was sorry to delete 50+ surveys, but I was never going to do them anyway

I've been filling my crafting bag for the past two years now, and I have hundreds of items placed in my homes. So I assume I'm screwed either way, and minimizing the stuff in my bank/inventory probably won't make much of a difference. I'll just boot up the game and watch Netflix at the same time..

Personally given the propensity of ZOS to make epic player impacting mistakes and then try to pretend they never happened I will be:

Assuming they will either forget to take a backup or not bother to validate any backup they do take and therefore:

Taking screenshots of anything I own that matters to me... material stacks, hard to get gear, anything I have bought with criwns, houses and their inventories etc.

That way when they mess up the changes and then discover they haven’t got a valid backup at least I will have some proof of what I had.

This game has made me deeply cynical....

Since we got no reply on the main thread about the risk of missing items, I took screenshot of EVERYTHING I have.

Took me a long ass time to screenshot all, thx a lot @ZOS for not answering some simple questions. Also, there is a lot people in game still unaware of the incoming load screen, I really hope you will put a decent warning in case someone just close the application thinking the game is not loading because... problems.

Sure as heck not giving up years of gathering and maxing out set pieces for Wrathstone.

It's not about the DLC, it's in relation to this announcement:
Next Monday with the PC launch of Update 21, we’ll be implementing some code related to ESO’s database that will allow us greater flexibility with updates and maintenance as it continues to grow over time. Due to this change, after downloading the patch on Monday, you are likely to encounter a very long load screen upon first logging into the game. This will only occur the first time you log in after character select, and it will not affect subsequent logins. That said, the length of the load screen could vary anywhere between 5-10 minutes to a couple hours. We understand this is far from ideal and is frustrating on launch day, but it’s a necessary evil just this one time.

Now, this loading is actually directly tied to the total number of bank items, inventory items, and mail attachments everyone has. This means if you’re able to clear out excess items in your inventory and attachments before maintenance begins Monday morning (or even just reduce them), this will greatly help the amount of loading the client will need to do! Additionally, once you’re at the load screen, please just wait until you’ve made it into the game; closing the client will not speed things up.

Thanks for your understanding, everyone, and we look forward to Wrathstone and Update 21 launch in just a few days!
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/460320/u21-launch-day-load-times-and-how-you-can-help

The OP is definitely exaggerating the situation and the precautions necessary, but as most DLC and in fact most patches don't come with changes to the database they're not comparable.

Most of my bank inventory is furniture so I think I'll just put it all in my biggest house that I haven't decorated yet and bypass this issue with the bank and bag space. Up to ten minutes or so to log in that one time is fine, hours is not.

Eh, no major effort here. While doing today's writs, I just made sure to finally toss any random junk I was ignoring, consumed any clutter recipes/motifs lying around, and made sure to deposit all the random stackables that were on my characters in the bank so they made single stacks. ~170 items in bank, 20-40 on each of 7 characters. No biggie, maybe another couple minutes on each character beyond the normal writ time.
