I ditched some old useless jewelry writs. Had some old items that weren't worth selling so I deconned those. Maxed out some stuff to sell in my guilds. I am still keeping 75% of my stuff as is. I'll try to sign in after the update and then go do life for the day.

Eh, i dont think thats necessary. I'll clear out some usless junk but otherwise I'll just deal with the load screen. It's only a one time thing

I wouldn't bother mate, its just a notified extra few hours of maintenance instead of the usual un-notified stuff.
Take a walk, watch some Netflix, clean the fridge

It's your entire inventory. If you have crafting bag you gonna empty that?? What about furnishing in home's??

I am doing nothing I will install the update and log on a wait for it to do it thing.

I just hope they turn off any no activity timeouts, so I can just let it go and check it every so often.

Don’t have the quote on me since I’m on my phone and search sucks on here, but I’m pretty sure @ZOS_GinaBruno said Crafting Bag DOES NOT count.

Edit: Just remembered this info about craft bag not counting was an ESO reply on their official Facebook page, not on the forums.

Exactly. DESTROYING your gear isn't worth a shorter wait time on ONE load screen.

Not that I'm playing atm... but late last year I wrote down every piece of gear each of my 10 characters was wearing or holding - excluding research pieces, motifs, furniture plans, consumables, etc - transferred all the data to a spreadsheet and from there deleted and or sold a lot. So, while I can't add anything to my bank atm (no ESO+) I'm glad I went through the process.

(No, I can't use whatever PC addon exists to handle inventory, because I'm not on PC.)

This whole thread is insane. Treat the extra long loading screen like part of the patching process, log into your character and go do something else and check in every 30 mins or so.

Honestly, spending an hour going through inventory management steps in an attempt to cut an hour off the one-time load screen is asinine.

This entire thing is happening because ZOS is upgrading to a new server and it needs to scan our entire account on the first login. The end result will probably be better game performance going forward, so people need to stop getting their pants in a knot over this.

I'm on console and I log in/on freely. I was just wondering after the update if I would have to sign in with the information I created my account with.

Whatever character has the least amount in their inventory, well then that's the one I'll log into on Monday.

Other than that....IDK....I'll find something else to do while I wait.

Patch days are a Sh!t Show most of the time anyways....

Yeah. I made an excel sheet so I could quickly find my armor parts. I have 7 banker alts , a bank, 6 chest. I have well over 800 weapon / armor pieces and then other stuff aswell.
I am really not going to sort it all out before Monday. And I'm sure as he'll am not gonna decon any armor.

Also there is no guarantee that if you spend the whole day cleaning up your inventory you won't experience long load times. It's a workday tomorrow anyway. I'll just have my kids fire up ESO while I'm at work and it will be done.

Yea Im not going to sort through everything either.

If it takes hours to log in, Ill just leave the computer to do its updateing then gona go read a book or something.

Might be a good excuse to take a night off from the game

Strongly suspect its because the new search function in guild stores.
They has to change how items is saved in database and does this on logon.

Now the problem is that they have to do this on all items on all the players who log on
(Players logging in) * (items player has)
So if you have lots of items and log in on prime time monday you get an long wait, if you wait until midnight its much faster.

Yes they could do this as part of maintenance but this would also require changing all accounts not only the ones logging in prime time monday so maintenance would be much longer.

The Update 21 patch tomorrow (Monday) is going to cause a very long loading screen the first time you log-in after the patch (apparently, longer than normal), due to some changes they made to the database.
