Not sure what to answer tbh. Would I report someone for saying "aggit"? Seriously, who even does that lol?

Some random crap on Urbandictionary doesn't mean anything. Pretty much everything has a "dirty" explanation on Urbandictionary if you look long enough. People flaming with gibberish words, isn't offensive at all, just laughable.

But I will report people that's actually offensive, to such degree that it makes other players feel really uncomfortable. I can't say I see that very often though. Not sure if my threshold when it comes to trashtalk is extremely high, or if others exaggerate about so called "toxic chat"?

I'm probably showing my age but I think people need to toughen up a bit and stop being offended at every turn. Is it nice to call people names and use vulgarities towards them? No but it isn't worth getting all bent out of shape either for someone that in all likelihood you will never come across again. Look at them for what they are and that is generally someone with issues worse than your own. So put them on ignore and get back top enjoying life. If they continue to try and harass you then report them but that is a different situation.

the question is i guess where is the limit. what do we tolerate as a community.

the thing is i do have a thick skin and thats why i end up befriending people who insulted me in a match but on those guys i could see why. it makes sense and i can emphathize with them. u get mad when u loose its normal human behavior.

on the other hand u have the people that insult for no reason it makes them feel good to emotionally hurt others. Not in the worst days of my life i would hurt someone for my own amusement. So its hard for myself to tolerate such behavior becouse i probably dont understand it.

So i was curious what the community thinks about this kind of behavior

You make it sound as if you play with the person frequently. If that is the case why do you or others in your group put up with with the person? It doesn't matter if they are part of your group or not if enough people ignore the person they will soon be isolated. I have played other MMO's with toxic players. They end up with server wide bad reputations and people stop playing with them no matter how good they are. If these toxic people really care they will look at why no one plays with them anymore and moderate their behavior or not.

As far as I can tell calling someone a name or using profanity is not considered harassment by ZOS. Their solution for the community to handle this is the language filter and the Ignore List. The choice is yours to let jerks bother you and affect your enjoyment of the game or to ignore them for the idiots they are and have fun anyway. I say this not just in game but in RL as well because you are going to meet plenty of people worse than this guy out there as you go through life.

for that one comment? no.

if he continued to harass, then maybe. most of the time I just put them on ignore and go on with my life.

The edit came in when I was working on a reply.

As I said these folks have enough of their own problems. It isn't our responsibility to try and fix their psychological issues. All we can do is decide if we are going to put up with it in our lives or not. The tools are there in EOS for us to not have to put up with it. If these types can no longer find groups or are kicked from them they will have a choice to change their behavior. Or they'll end up here on the Forums complaining they never did anything wrong so why are they always kicked from groups (they won't like the answer). To me that is the community resolving the problem. As to the broken personality I say leave that to the professionals.

It really depends on what they're doing/saying.

No, I'm pretty sure it's just that people came up with that (dropping the initial letter) to get around chat censors.


Either way, I don't report crazies, but I do put them on ignore. I also avoid PvP and PvPers, since there's a high incidence of jerks.
(either way, RP'ing in PvP seems like it'd be a way to attract extra jerkishness, since "PvPer" and "RPer" feel like opposed groups, to me.)
