Age of Conan had no content after level 30, Warhammer had a slight show due a bugged client that never got fixed and SWTOR was shipped without HD textures and a few weeks later they wiped all the char names too ...
TESO has everything so you can play for many weeks, the graphics are great and it runs very smooth (at least it did before last patch on my rig).
The problems with the retailers and ZO about codes, shipping etc. are unfortunate and a real shame. I am in contact with the customer service since Sunday and hopefully tomorrow when I log in my items are finally there. That said, I got fast replies and at least the last ticket seemed to indicate that help is on the way.
If I will keep my sub? I don't know yet. I definitely want to, but a lot depends on the current situation about the pre order items and if a content patch will be announced.
Why those two things?
1. If they can solve the problem then it shows me they care. Its not even their fault, but they still try to help and this counts a lot in my books.
2. Content patches usually show a direction for the game. I am not a hardcore raider anymore, so for me its important that stuff like a thieves guild, maybe new crafts or public group quest´s are also coming and not just raids for premades like at wow.
I played SWTOR on day one and it was nearly flawless for me. Far ahead of the launch of ESO in every way. I didn't trip over broken quests and bad combat lag.
Rift was pretty good too. Almost as much as SWTOR.
The only thing worse about WoW at launch was the database bugs that made looting take forever at times, and it did have some down time.. But combining all 3 of those MMOs, none comes close to ESO with the number of broken quests, glitchy character skills, and combat lag.
SWTOR didnt even have hi res textures when it launched. The game was so bad in the first 60 days they lost over 1 million paying customers. Almost the entire staff of Bioware pre swtor was fired over it. I think someone is either wearing rose colored glasses regarding swtor or making things up.
Seriously, insightful? Naaaw I was there when WoW threw open their doors, They must have had 20+ GM's ON HAND IN GAME talking to people and solving problems in real time that could be solved. EQ same way... No launch is flawless, but the customer support is failing the game. There are quests that IF you can get EVERY SINGLE PERSON to leave the area, it will reset. You can spend hours trying to do what a GM could do in a second.Absolutely continuing my subscription. I'm having a lot of fun so far.SuperScrubby wrote: »Interesting, this is probably one of the smoothest launches I've ever experienced in my 10+ years of playing MMO's. And yet I have never seen so many dissatisfied people complaining about bugs and such. People would like to claim that times have changed and they expect more, but realistically that's like expecting jet packs as a form of transportations because the combustion engine has been around for over 100 years.
Lasting change is a slow gradual process, and the video game industry is no different. Could there have been things handled differently? Yes absolutely, but by no means is this game so borked or broken that its unplayable, nor is the balance so bad that everyone is band wagoning onto a certain class. As long as Zeni doesn't mess up I can only see this game getting better and better. They can have my $15 because the amount of fun I take away from this game far exceeds the cost of admittance.
And this is very insightful and pretty much spot on. The people saying "times have changed, there should be 0 bugs and everything should be perfect on launch day" are about like "Back to the Future II had flying cars in 2015. Where's my flying car darnit?"

Please: This is NOT a "don't hit the door on your way out" or "give me all your stuff" post. This is also not a hater post for people who want to permanently leave TESO.
I am just honestly interested to hear from others, if they will extend their subscription at the current state of the game/service. Or if someone rather want to take a break and maybe come back in 3-6month when everything is settled?
In my case, I really like this game, but probably won't subscribe at the current state. I rather wait another 3 month, until I can get a smooth gaming experience, and until Zenimax has shown its customers some respect (e.g. by talking to us)
Thank you

Another point that a few of you have made is the lack of communication on zenimax's part. A little communication would go a long way to easing the frustrations of a lot of people.
I agree with you SWTOR is not better than ESO by a long shot buutt......the 1st 30 days of that game were much better than this. I did not drop every 5-20 mins with swtor nor did i just sit and watch a loading screen when i tried to pvp. Please keep things in the proper contrast.jamesharv2005ub17_ESO wrote: »lol you obviously never played swtor. Its still not better than ESO. You do realize that contacting your ISP does not mean the issue is not on your end in terms of connectivity issues, right?I have opened the proper ports, contacted my ISP, cleared the cache in the router adjusted my security settings(then just tried turning them off all together)the fact that people all over the world are having similar issues means this is a programming problem on zenimax's part lol we can all play every MMO on the market but yours!!! BUUTT the problem is ours ? Hhmm what did sherlock holmes state about the obvious ?
I am really trying to be understanding but you have to understand the bugs that are being experienced are the same that were reported 4 months ago.jamesharv2005ub17_ESO wrote: »Another point that a few of you have made is the lack of communication on zenimax's part. You know what would happen if they posted a "We are working on it." thread? Everyone would yell at them for not giving them new info. The game has been out 4 days can we cut them a little bit of a break?

I on the other hand was constantly getting kicked out of the game first month. I was a beta tester and I bought the $150 CE. I quit when it went f2p. People told them in beta the quests were bugged, pvp was bugged and numerous other things. For example the UI was horrible. You couldnt open three windows you could only open two. The UI was not configurable so you were stuck with it. So many issues.

Your ISP is merely going to do a modem check to see if they can see you on their end and if so, they tell you their end is fine....When plenty of times it is not.
If the issue was the code, it would not be discriminate in who it effected. Because it is discriminate lends itself to an environment issue. Virgin Online had an issue with it, and all communications they had to an eso server timed out on the same hop in a tracert. And that ISP said they had no issues as well.
Funny how people are quick to give their ISP the benefit of the doubt with no knowledge in networking and in the same breath are sure the problem is within the game's code with no knowledge in development either.
I truly believe that the game is awesome and i think most of you agree with that, but that is the crust of the issue we want to play just like the rest of you that dont have these issues
Well seein as I can't even set up a subscription right now because they haven't emailed me my code it is hard to say. It has been days since I filed a ticket and I still haven't heard back. At this rate I may end up taking a break from this for a month or so since that is probably how long it will take for me to get back to me on this.
James I get that i really do but alot of us reported these same bugs 4 months ago now common sense tells me that perhaps there was not enough of us with this issue back then for them to take it seriously but multiply the player base by 100x and now it is a problem a 4 MONTH old problem. Not trying to argue with you but 4 months is a lot of time in this industryjamesharv2005ub17_ESO wrote: »I am really trying to be understanding but you have to understand the bugs that are being experienced are the same that were reported 4 months ago.jamesharv2005ub17_ESO wrote: »Another point that a few of you have made is the lack of communication on zenimax's part. You act like once a bug is reported they can immediately know exactly what causes AND how to fix it. Also your bug is not affecting everyone. In fact most are able to login and play just fine. Sometimes these kind of errors are hard to track down.
