Refresh button in the ingame mail box?

Maybe I've missed it or maybe there is a way, but I find it exremely annoying that I have to zone, or log off to refresh the ingame, mail box. Especially after you've purchased something from guild traders, sometimes I have to wait forever for it to actually appear, unless i zone, or log off.

Is there any addon, or workaround for this or any other way to refresh the box that I don't know about?

I'm not sure what causes the delay. Sometimes mail won't show up until you open the mail tab, then it pops up. Other times it will show up right after you buy something. And if it doesn't show up at all, I usually go into my Daggerfall house to get it to pop up.

It's almost as annoying as when the Daggerfall banker plays hide and seek with me.

If i log in, get the hireling mail notification, then buy something.... i only see the hireling mails...

It seems like the mail box only refreshes every 5 minute or so, unless you're changing zone.

Mail box needs a refresh button, to force check for new mail.

Yes this would be a great thing. So annoying when buy stuff for crafting etc having to port out then back to where stations are.

This has been a requested feature for a long while.

Even if it just ported you to the same spot you were in and refreshed the mail, I would be willing to endure the load screen just to not have to relocate my character.

I agree. They could just add a refresh button that you could only use every 2 minutes or so to prevent spamming. But don't expect this to ever happen, why change something that doesnt work...?

Refresh button would be fantastic but it only serves to highlight the issue even more and that is ZOS can't seem to get mail to pop instantly (or even consistently). If they were ever to think about adding a refresh button, they would likely want to find a way to take it one step further and just automate the process, instantly retrieving the mail without you ever having to see a refresh button. Since that seems to be something they can't do (for a reason I can't comprehend) I don't see it happening any time soon.

I usually use the /reloadUI and it seems to refresh my mail and let me get slow or stuck messages or COD's.

But an actual refresh button would be lovely!

Seems like there's support for it in the Addon API.

Maybe someone with a bit of knowledge can do a refresh mail addon?

    https://wiki.esoui.com/API#ingame.5Cmail
    ZO_MailInbox_Gamepad:RefreshMailList()

    Maybe can request in ESOUI?

I go to the guild trader, buy something, port back to where the crafting stations are, so I can use it, and pick it up when I get there. Why do I need a new button to help that?

My example was crafting, but all other instances I can think of have the use of the item in a different location from the vendor.

I don't know if it really makes a difference, but I've been told my my more experienced guildies, that when you send something through mail, if you also send 1 piece of gold that it expedites or triggers the mail delivery. However, I'm not aware of anything that you can do about speeding up mail receipt.

Sometimes, when I'm doing some trader buying, and I don't zone or relog right away, the mail does appear, but it will always take at least several minutes for me, easily longer than the loadscreen time it takes to transport to another zone. Something I haven't tried, but has occurred to me just now, and will have to try, is to try wayshrine-to-wayshrine to a different area of the same zone. Those loadscreens are always much quicker with the exception of CwC and Brass Fortress, which is some sort of hybrid of same zone / different zone, because it's on the same map but always takes the longer loadscreen. I'm betting that won't help, but I'll have to check it out.

I've also tried /reloadui, which someone upstream mentioned, however that never triggers mail for me so I've stopped trying.

If I am not mistaken, this method is being called upon opening the mailbox window, so it would probably have no effect when tampering with it. It seems that there is a timeout in the background, which no one can touch apart from Zenimax. The timeout surely has been implemented to prevent spamming the database with queries.

@OP: It definitely would be a nice feature but it would also defeat the timeout they put in.

Same zone Wayshrine to Wayshrine doesn't work for me.

The built in mail delivery delay is most annoying when you are crafting and run out of something. You can't run from the craft area in Vivec to the traders and just bye it. Better to Wayshrine to Alinor or Mournhold to bye and then Wayshrine back to Vivec to continue crafting.

Whether the mechanism ZOS have implemented for pending mail is a timer or something else it can be circumvented by a player logging, re-zoning or going in and out of a thieves den either of which will add to server load.

A refresh button with maybe an anti-spamming lockout could achieve the same but put more control in the hands of the player.

I would even be ok if this was an npc interaction kind of like how it was in previous legend of zelda games (They made Link go to a mailbox in Majora's Mask iirc).

Adding a refresh mail button would probably take up a lot of bandwidth. Good idea, but it wouldn't be used properly in ESO land.

I don't think it's the bandwidth they are concerned about but more the amount of queries being sent to the database, slowing it down.

IT is hard to explain this to new players when they worry about the game screwing up and taking their gold but not sending the item.

    This would be nice.

It's like when you send an item to a friend...if you put a 1 gold COD on it, then the mail is instantly received because it was a "higher priority" than regular mail, whereas if you don't put a COD amount on it then it could be minutes before the friend receives the mail because of its priority level. They should make items purchased from the Guild Traders the "higher priority" so it shows up right away.

    This.
Same zone wayshrine porting doesn't work for me, either.

But porting to other zones and back doesn't work every time, either.
I hate buying in Rawl'kha, (for example) having to port to a different zone and back with the fun involved with watching the loading screens twice, and then not having the items in my mailbox anyway.

I always feel like the loading screens are 'the servers' trolling us.
