See, whether I chose that character for the role play or the stats, I gave them a lore appropriate name for their race.

I really dont like the changes that much and i really think 1 race change token is unfair but you have to understand ZOS, too. They have to make money with the game, if you give 1 Race Change token per Character, ppl would use if for whatever they want. Nobody would buy Race Change tokens anymore and ppl would keep the unused ones. On the other hand i agree that 1 Race Change token isnt enough. That doesnt look like as if customers are valued. Thats just unfair and it wont help ZOS since customers will remember that as smth really negative.

Games like this change. Gotta get over it. These changes aren't even as dramatic as the people posting about them. The first time I heard about them, I thought they were swapping everyone around, making orcs the casters, and altmer the melee race. People like to get up in arms, and to ask for free things. This just happened to be a lucky time for them.

It should be 1 race change token per champ ranked character so people cant abuse by making lvl 3 alts for all their character slots.

1 race token is complete bs, I have a tank, a healer, and magicka and stam dps for almost all the classes, and they're all red guards or dark elves.

There is no way I'm gonna change all their races if I wanna pick an min max, and pay that absurd 3k crowns per.

Good money ploy zos.

They've made plenty of racial changes in the past without giving us anything.

This time they're giving everyone a race change token and everyone's up in arms that it's not enough.

I have to admit that when I heard they were giving everyone a free Race Change token, I was actually surprised. I wasn't expecting them to give us any, just like I wasn't expecting a free Character slot. That being said, for people who have a lot of changes to make, that one token won't really do much. I would say perhaps 1 for every x number of characters you have, going in groups of maybe four. So that would be two tokens for someone with eight characters, three for someone with twelve, four for someone with sixteen (come Elsweyr, anyways). Or you could do it in batches of three to account for fifteen slots, which would result in five possible free tokens.

Making Race Changes free would probably be rather difficult, since there's no in-game option other than getting a token to do it. This means they'd either have to a) program in a feature/location that lets you change race for free, or b) make the Race Change tokens free. But in the latter case, that would clearly not work at all, as people would just go absolutely bonkers and stock up on them. You could say "well have them expire after a few weeks and get deleted", but then that's something else ZOS would have to program in, and who's to say what sort of problems that might lead to (such as tokens purchased at normal prices and stuff just poofing into the ether).

I suppose they could always add something to character select where it maybe generates one token at a time each time you log in? So you log in once, get one token, you use it, log back out, log back in, have another token, and so on and so forth. Buuuuut we come back to having to add in new programming for something like that, in this case having to program essentially infinite tokens for a set amount of time. The thing with having been given free/ultra cheap respecs of skills and CP and stuff in the past is those systems already exist in-game, so it's a lot easier to set their values to 0 or 1 than it would be to program a new system, which unless I'm overlooking some other possible option, would be required for people to get free race changes outside of tokens.

I voted they should give us nothing. I think it's quite generous that they offer us one change for free because they really don't have to. None of the races gets totally trashed or changed at all, former top Magicka / Stamina races are still the best / one of the best choices for Magicka / Stamina.

I could see some slight buffs for Imperials coming next week but besides that I think most races are fine. That's why all the fuzz about "one race change per character" is unnecessary.
