Why are streamers so unjustly glorified in every game, despite there being far better players?

It's also a culture thing; I have zero interest in watching others do anything really but as a child there wasn't such a thing, internet came around about my mid-late teens and streaming in my mid 20's or so. My kids watch streamers of Minecraft other crap I think is stupid but to each their own I guess.
There is nothing here of interest to any nations; as a matter of fact, there is nothing here but people.

You know this is the same in the "real world". It's the disgustingly pathetic mentality of human society.
Look at the winners of "sexiest man/woman alive" they are always someone famous, I'm pretty sure it's the girl that worked at my local video store when I was a teenager.

It will be fun to wait until the new chapter is out and we see twitch streamer that NEVER play eso regularly but have huge audiences just randomly playing ESO again.

Streamers are glorified by game developers because they are performing PR work and advertising the game, typically for free. Sure, the ESO Stream Team receives goodies to dole out to viewers and they receive special items or are invited to ZOS events so they become mini-celebrities. Game play abilities have nothing to do with this system.

Not glorifying their skill, but appreciating the effort it takes to put up websites and explain decent builds for the masses. Even better players have most likely used thier info at some point.

Well like someone mentioned earlier, Streamers have more exposure, and overall they will capture their highlights/good plays and they will go around the internet and YouTube.

Anyways I myself just stream because I love to talk to the community and the engagement, its like a friendship you build with your chatters, they come in I ask how their day was then we do some Dailies together (gotta get that undaunted up YUK)

Even as a streamer I agree a bit with the glorifying part, I have seen this myself in the past there was a guy asking about a stamplar setup and I explained in detail why I run my setup ( 5 minutes or so) and his counter argument was ''but Sypher said''

I also always say there is no way to know who the best player is there are TONS of great/good players out there not to mention the fact that we have 3 systems X 2 servers so makes for 6 different platforms/servers you can play on, and then you have campaigns, Battlegrounds (just talking PvP here)

Most ESO streamers from what I have seen aren't that much about skill but about the community, helping newcomers to the game, people who might want to get into ESO etc, I get like 10+ newcomers every stream who are like ''IS ESO worth it'' How is the game.

I only watched people play games if they're entertaining and or decent at the game so they can actually showcase the game without losing a ton. And my description there does not include these people also being total bum cans. If they have the personality of a schoolyard bully talking trash to either the game, the devs, or the other players they're fighting and then teabagging, then I don't give a single squeak how good they are, they're terrible at being a proper Human Being.

This isn't true. Most times, the most popular streamers are also the best players. If you go to the CS:GO, Overwatch, R6, DoTA2, LoL, etc. Twitch page, the top streamers are almost always top e-sports performers too (current or retired).

You mistake me. No shade thrown. Sypher got his start with this community. He then went on to bigger and better things once it was clear that ZOS had no intention of supporting PvP as a competitive esport. This game failed Sypher, not the other way around. I don't fault him one bit for pursuing his goals of full time streaming by moving to a game that fully supports streamers, fixes bugs in days not months, and actually listens to their community.

That's not what I was talking about at all. I'm talking about the fact that every chapter, ZOS usually pays some big name streamer that isn't from the ESO community at all to play the game so ESO can get more views on twitch. I'd actually be happier if they chose Sypher instead of someone from outside the community since they can benefit from his new non-ESO audience AND he was one of the OGs in this game.

Title. I'm just confused why people glorify and accredit people who decided to slap a camera in front of their face and make fools of themselves, despite there being literally hundreds of far better players ingame who don't seek any sort of attention.

I guess the same question could be asked about real life celebrities, most of which make me barf and roll my eyes, but yeah... How come?

Seems silly and stupid, especially when I see so many people (fans) completely unable to think for themselves, or follow the crowd cause it's "cool".

    Kinda sad.

People love being manipulated, once someone is always available on a stream and can be stalked 24/7 he reaches divinity for most of his loyal stalkers.

As you pointed out its not even about being better or not, we just love being influced by someone else instead of using our brains ourselves.
Here, have a chill pill 💊!
