While I don't disagree, I believe the issue lies in their promises made to the shareholders to keep pumping out 4 releases per year because that's how they see a return on their investment. They need to know that a return is possible through investing resources on something other than pve content. As any company would - they follow the money - and once something works they stick with that.
They have never dedicated a competent team to flesh out the performance because they have been told they are not allowed to stray from what they know works. Shareholders hold the future of every game. If investors don't get a return on their dollar, the game dies. Sad but true.
If there were a guarantee that performance would increase revenue, they would have a team on it the next day. We are caught in this limbo between what the team would LIKE to do and what they are ALLOWED to do. The only thing they are allowed to do is pump out content because it's the only thing that has been proven to create long term revenue.
This discussion is only meant to shed some insight into the kind of money "left on the table" as Dan has put it. I think ZOS would be shocked to know how many end game pvp players would happily invest monetarily if the performance was a result of our investment.
If you come in here and have your opinions that start with "I am a pve player, BUT..." This poll wasn't meant for you, we know your answer - $0. The question is directed at end game pvp players. How many of us would throw our wallets at ZOS for guaranteed performance?
How many players would come BACK to ESO once they heard the lag was gone? I would bet a LOT!

People pay already enough for this service. If anything they should make it cheaper for the players until they fix it.

Band Camp statements: To state "But this one time I saw X doing X... so that justifies X" Refers to the Band camp statement.
