Do you primarily feel as though ZOS values you as a player/part of the community, or your wallet?

When you go to work every morning, do you not do so because you need to make money?

I sure don’t. I work hard simply out of the goodness of my heart ❤️

They sell you reskinned crown store garbage just to turn around and sell you reskinned garbage content. Though the former happens more frequently. :D

At the end of the day is the player bases fault for it being this bad. Because you guys are the ones soaking hundreds into the crown store. ESO+ and the occasional crown pack was all I bought. And this was when the game was fun. Now that it's so blatantly obvious they're milking the players I can't bring myself to buying crowns. How does everyone else?

I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm one of the players who spent more money than they should have given the current state of the game.

    And it stings.

It really stings looking back at how many other better things that money could have been spent on.

Don't get me wrong I'm not bashing anyone for spending money on ESO when it was worth it. When the game launched it was fresh it was exciting. There was lots to do and the crown store was very little and prices were actually cheap lol it didn't hurt to spend a little and a mount that was only 2k (frost mare) but now mounts costing 4.5 and houses 15k+ and people are paying this? That's why Zos don't care.

The game developers, quest writers, sound designers, balancing team...
I think they value the players. They're passionate about the game. I'd go so far as to say they love it.
The Marketing Team.... They focus on getting money from us. It is what they are hired to do.
The Community Managers. A big part of their job is to get that market info to us. Get us involved, get us to buy stuff.
You know what? We hate the crates, we hate the monetization running rampant in the Crown Store.
I would be willing to bet a LOT of money that the only people who hate it more than us is the devs and Community Managers.

Not only because this is a game they do feel passion for; but because ignorant members of this community give THEM flack for it. Claims that the devs and the much over-tagged Gina don't care about the game because they're too busy lining their pockets are laughable and objectively incorrect.

There is a lot of passion in this game. Just look at those hints the team is sending out for this year. That is excitement. Not just for us, but for them too.

Too bad then, that it is all overshadowed quite frequently by the monetization of the game. Hence my vote.
Communication NEEDS to be better. We get frequent crown store forum updates, why not anything else?

They likely do care because the company's success or failure will affect their paychecks. What I honestly think might be happening is that someone above the entire dev team is the one calling the shots.

Almost every time I've seen a company ship a product that was buggy, incomplete, or otherwise disappointing, it was because someone above the dev team put pressure on the team to do so and/or decides when the product will be released, when the product is in acceptable state, what bugs get fixed and their priorities, etc. In some cases they completely micromanage development...

The sad part is that the ones browsing the forums are not investors or upper management, but instead employees and devs that may not hold the power to make decisions in the players' best interest, but are constantly taking the heat for it and getting bashed for it.

Recall the response to the dungeon finder event.

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/448458/undaunted-celebration-event-follow-up/p1

It took a while for an official response to a problem that was widely complained about on the forums, why was that? My guess would be because there is someone above Rich Lambert that ultimately decides whether or not the event is extended and what the response is and would have been. It almost seems like the delay was because he had to get permission to post about it AND the decision to modify the New Life Festival had to be approved by someone above him, yet those same delays result in criticism of ZOS...

I'm sorry ZoS, but it really feels like now you care more about being as greedy as you can be than player base any more. I remember when ZoS used to communicate very often, but now I rarely see that. All I see is moderator messages about "keeping it civil".

Crown crates, Radiant Apex rewards(wtf?), LIMITED TIME ONLY 600 GEM trash. Awful 1 inch sized statues for ESO+ exclusive rather than free crates. Lack of showing care. PTS comes out and bugs are reported WELL in advance. Oh guess what? PTS goes to live and takes about 4 more mini patches (somtimes more) to fix a *** bug that had reports with details in it,

Admit it, you care MORE about money these days than the game. You literally invited people out to your HQ for feedback and input - like Deltia, Alcast, Sypher (if i remember correctly).... And guess what? You LITERALLY wasted their time 100% and did what you wanted.

I used to be for you, now..... my view has changed.
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

Stopped pouring money into the game end of last year, there are better games out there with competent developers who actually care about their base game before their generated profit.

To those saying "ZOS is a business; what do you expect? Making money off us is supposed to be their goal."

I work in a creative field. There were other things I could have done with my abilities and my degree, but I chose something that interested and excited me. Some projects don't move me at all and end up just being sources of income, but usually, when I'm working, I'm trying to do the best I can to please my bosses and the customers. I take great satisfaction in a job well done and in solving difficult problems. I hope to get noticed for my work and allowed to move up to both better positions and better projects. And when the project is complete, if it's well received, even though my input is relatively small, I still take huge joy in knowing I was a part of making something that entertained and pleased others.

As far as I'm concerned, if you don't feel like that, I would prefer you not work in my business. If I have hiring power, I'll do my best not to hire anyone who thinks it's just a job. I want people passionate about the work and about giving the audience something great. Not every project I do is good. Some of them have been utter garbage. But if you don't at least genuinely want to do great work, go do something else. But if you have the drive to do the work with passion and high quality, then you're be well-compensated--and you'll deserve to be.

I think there are many at ZOS who feel the same was about their work as I do about mine. However, as creating new shines and finding increasingly sleazy ways to monetize those shines has become a much more lucrative part of their business than making a good MMO is, I feel like those the influence of the passionate creators wains. And as this influence wains, so too does my respect for ZOS.

(And yes, by rewarding behavior for which the only reasonable response is punishment, the players own a lot of the blame for this.)

Recent changes to free stuff we could get shows it all, not to mention the mount and pet we had for crown gems being so overpriced... They just wanna get as much cash from us as possible and even try to make us pay money for random crown store currency (crown gems).
In exchange we get updates, 4 dungeons- 1 big story zone - 1 small story zone per year which honestly do not offer a lot content (I mean let us take for example Murkmire, it took me few days while reading all notes/books/dialogues etc. to finish every single quest and I have been waiting for story DLC half year...), the dungeons are honestly of very low quality focusing mostly on how many 1 shot mechanics can be packed into single dung. There are plenty balance issues, old sets are totally useless beside few chosen ones like mothers sorrow, most monsters sets are also not so good, some skills morphs are totally useless (could name tons but why waste space). However for them the most important thing to do is design new items for crown store is how I feel it works here sadly.
I know changes will take time to be made however in that case please stop with adding crown store items and instead do more work on skills, server stability (oh right midyear mayhem this month right? bet cyrodil will be unplayable right away again) and redesign sets to allow us to have more choice beside few good builds.

I feel valued, for my wallet.

But anyway, bro, it's a for- profit business. What do you expect?

If anyone injects any thought into anything at this point, that's a huge accomplishment. Let alone loyalty of any kind

At least they have that .

They value me as any other business. As a source of revenue for them. No more, no less. Do I feel they could do a better job in communicating with the playerbase? Especially those they chose to be community reps and class reps? Hell yes. But I've been playing MMOs since SWG launched in 2003. I know better than to expect anything more than what we are getting now.

The implication that ZOS makes us pay for stuff is ridiculous. It's our money. We choose what to do with it.

I would agree with you, but they change something fundamental in this Game, something ppl choose they want to be maybe years ago. Now they change that, so IMO its only Fair to let us reconsider our desicion based on the new situation, and then give us the choice to stick with the decision previously made, or let us repick the Race for free.

It feel like I subber to a Farmer which growas appels, and he delivers them to me once a week, now he desided to farm weed, and I should pay for the costs he has to get the new farm running, and for the sub for weekly weed.

See the logic ZOS uses here, cause I dont.

I wish they realised how awesome and popular the pvp in this game could be. But I guess that's not where the money is.

Regarding the issue of the racial passive changes, many end game players have 10-15 characters designed to be min/maxed. The new racial changes will impact those who have specifically designed their characters to be min/maxed and in order to change the races of those characters it would cost them $300+ to do so.

I would say the frustration is justified rather than just pure whining. Especially when some of those players already purchased race change tokens in the past, and now they will have to do so again.
