Complex question....so many ascepts to talk about.

Honestly, sometimes feel out of tune with players because they don't realize ompori of commication. People wouldn't if they had just mentioned early need to collect feathers. It's find to sell catch up, but they clearly lost some customer loyalty with the deception about extra feathers.

Poll is biased through language. They are a for profit business.

Their one goal is to maximize revenue from each engaged player.

Every business has this goal, you are not special to any of them. You are a means to an end.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

yes yes I know they hv to keep it..."business-like". It's fine and "correct". But sometimes ZoS has gone too far, if u know what I mean.
ps. before long the thread will be "closed", maybe. No offense OP but this is how things work. U know it.

But its not just Zos doing that, its just what the game industry has become, its no longer about being passionate and caring about a good product, its just all about hitting that quota and money money money.

    • The removal of crates from daily login rewards.
    • No more free crates for ESO+ subscribers and instead giving us tiny statues and the chance to buy stuff early for 10% off.
    • Indriks being locked behind an elaborate ticket system, then tickets suddenly being offered in the Crown Store.
    • The snowcap fledgling gryphon was said to be the reward for holiday gift-giving, then suddenly slated for the Crown Store for anyone to buy.

Just how many recent examples are needed for this pattern to become evident to everyone?

Why do so many assume a one or the other mentality with this game?

This thread is following along side the threads that demand ZoS quit creating new content and instead fix the game. They fail to realize there are different teams working on each aspect of the game. Instead they act as if there is one guy in a basement somewhere that switches tasks based on what ZoS feels is most important.

And people like you pretend that it is impossible to shift priorities within the HR.

Yeah, I totally see that it is impossible for a billion dollar company to hire more troubleshooters. A content creator who retires can be replaced by a content creator only. And hiring additional service staff is impossible, because reasons.

You don't have to find lame excuses - Zeni can do this very well.

First there's chapters that then become dlc's... then crates with apex mounts, followed by radiant apex mounts, followed by gem-exclusive items... then gift rewards, that can later just be bought from the CS, and finally, obscurity about getting extra feathers, because, you guessed it: event tickets can be bought from the CS. Let's just say trust issues have become a thing with ZOS

It should be an equitable TRADE though. We should gain a value in exchange for the value (money) we give them. ESO should work as intended. If ESO doesn’t work as intended then it should be fixed.

Money grabs, like selling cosmetics in the crown store, and incentivizing logins (with daily rewards) are sure signs ZOS doesn’t intend on fixing anything that’s broken. As long as they can squeeze a little money out of their broken game it stays broken.

Unfortunately there is no question that ZoS value my wallet far more than they should.

If they valued me as an eldersrolls fan and player they would have done the right thing and removed the gambling boxes after all the pushback especially when it became clear just how harmful and preditory they are.

It's crystal clear what Zo$ value.

When the game first launched it felt like Zos actually cared about creating a hell of an MMO. When Paul Sage left and it was clear the devs couldn't figure out how to keep this game fresh and balanced they threw themselves hard at the crown store and loot crates.

At the end of the day is the player bases fault for it being this bad. Because you guys are the ones soaking hundreds into the crown store. ESO+ and the occasional crown pack was all I bought. And this was when the game was fun. Now that it's so blatantly obvious they're milking the players I can't bring myself to buying crowns. How does everyone else?

I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm one of the players who spent more money than they should have given the current state of the game.

    And it stings.

It really stings looking back at how many other better things that money could have been spent on.

I think it comes down to managing expectations. You can't expect a MMORPG to only have a pay once business model like a single-player rpg and survive for any length of time. That pay once model puts an expiry on the game the minute it's launched. Even single-player RPGs have season passes or buy-as-you-go dlcs.

If zos didn't care about keeping players playing the game they wouldn't have dlc's and chapters dropping every quarter. But it goes hand in hand with making a profit. The profit keeps the content coming.

Frankly I wish the sub only model was still in effect but almost the entire industry has moved away from it.

I own a law firm, and I care about every one of my clients. My goal is to help them. The fact that I get paid well to do so certainly was part of the reason I became an attorney, but I left the corporate legal environment to start my own firm for the express purpose of caring more about my clients than the big firms do. My clients have to pay me for my services, but they are the reason I chose this profession, not their money. It's a shame you care so little about your customers.

    True.

However. Two weeks after Bethesda's reputation got rekt in its inglorious entirety by the announced lawsuits due to Canvasgate and the bug farm, I searched YT for *Fallout 76 is great*. Found one video where the host liked it. Rest of the hits was basically $hitstorming and satire. If this is a trend, they will get shipwrecked so badly.

So - in terms of your business. If I were your highly unsatisfied customer and came in touch with other fellow customers of yours, learning that you actually have only one satisfied customer left, that would tell me everything. And informing you that you only have one customer left for your business should turn your face color into Soulshriven instantly.

Because unsatisfied customers don't dump their money in your pocket. Unsatisfied customers give a $hit for your profit and your living. THIS IS REAL LIFE.

I hate yes or no answers.

Since the negative things have been pointed out already i write down only what makes me feel valued as a player.

    - Forums are moderated and i can freely bring up good things or critics
    - Support helped me fast even on New Year
    - Zenimax does listen to players to some extent; for example: we got the changes for the undaunted celebration and the kind of recompensation we proposed
    - ESO+ is really fair and good
    - ESO is not pay to win; cosmetic stuff has heavy pricetags sometimes but the game is no rip-off and you can get a lot of things ingame
    - new content is not just spam, its made with love
    - pc players are able to use a lot of addons, even if they are sometimes a bit contradictive to what zenimax wants
    - maintenance is fast and there are like never after-maintenance-bugs
    - the game is getting improved step by step (i know there are performance issues and bugs, it could be faster, but its not like nothing improves)
    - Devs sometimes make decisions which may not please us in the beginning, but are sometimes good for the long term development of the game.. i interpret this as caring

So many negative votes. How come? ZOS has done an excellent job at getting this game to where it is at now, specially in terms of fairness. For me, it is one of the best games that I have ever played. Also, why would anyone be suprised that it is about the money, do they not realize that even people back then needed to fish for fish?

I could not find the 'I don't care option'.

The truth is, it is both.

They need money or they would not be in business, they do care about the customer, or they would not get their money.

I assure you ZOS is concerned about the bugs and lag, they know Cyro is dying, they know when it is dead, their revenue will be hit. It is all connected, it is not one or the other.

    This thread is dumb.
