Suggestion: Split off PVP and PVE servers

They can give PVP the balancing and attention it needs without affecting the game as a whole. This will also create a PVE Cyrodil.

If you like to play both you log onto the other server to change styles.

That's not how servers work in this game. If you log on to a different server, you start with nothing.

If they could do that, they would allow character transfers from NA to EU, for example...and they do not.
This idea is dead in the water...sorry.

They might not allow transfers between timezones but they are capable of it. Or they label it a Fresh Start server and everyone levels specifically in PVP

There should be no PvE exclusive Cyrodiil. Part of the fun in Cyrodiil is the risk of being jumped while out and about fishing, killing NPCs or whatever. It is a unique zone in the game and needs to stay as is.

Also since the idea seems to include being able to bring the same character to which ever server you want that would mean any changes would still affect PvE and PvP.

What happens when you copy your character across then your character gets a new monster helm and you want to use that helm in PvP? You have to transfer again. Same if you want caltrops for dungeon runs. You have to copy your character across and PvP to get your caltrops. Fun part is you can't play your PvE character without transferring back again or you will lose progression on one of the servers.

Too bad not everyone feels the same as you or likes PvP. Not everyone finds it fun to torment others who want to do there own thing for their own sick amusement like some people on these forums. Some people don’t care about the war or like getting jumped.

Oh and don’t say "well don’t go to Cyrodiil" or "do/try PvP it’s fun!". I honestly don’t care and have lost respect for PvPers trying to shove that down my throat because most are too selfish to look at the other side of the argument.

Iirc WoW had a toggle for open world pvp preference so even when you were on a pve server you could "turn on" pvp. Maybe something like this could work for cyro but it would probably increase lag. Also if you weren't toggled on for pvp you shouldn't be able to level alliance skills or gain AP/telvar.

But that's exactly what it is. If you don't like PvP, don't go to Cyrodiil.

If you wish, look at Cyrodiil as a separated PvP server, what in fact it is. You can not reach Cyrodiil through the normal wayshrines, you have to queue for it like for another server, just not from your character screen but ingame.

And why is it not an option for you to let Cyrodiil untouched ? Because of some skyshards and some achievements ? That's selfish, because you think everybody has to cater just for your needs. And because of this selfishness you want to ruin the experience for a lot of people.

For me, it's good as it is. I don't like open PvP forced on me when I'm questing or doing other things, but if I actively decide to I can go to Cyrodiil.

On the other hand, I don't like time consuming and difficult dungeons that much, so I just stay out of them. I don't demand to make them shorter or easier because I know there are a lot of people who like them, even if I miss achievements and gear.

It just seems that Cyrodiil isn't for you, deal with it.

Selfish? 98% of the game is already PvE, and still, that's not good enough...you want a 100% PvE option...and you throw a word around like "selfish" because you can't play a zone as it was designed to be played?

If you don't "care about the war", what the hell are you going to the war zone for? It's not meant for you...stay out. It's not "tormenting" you to be jumped and killed...that's by design. The other faction sees you, they kill you. It's rewarded for doing so. That is by design. You not liking it doesn't change the rules. Stick to 98% of the rest of the game if you can't handle dying in a game.

98% of the game is for you, and you got the nerve to call others selfish?

Will not work, any game that has had separate PvP servers from the PvE ones has closed the PvP due to them being ghost towns...

SWTOR at least tries to manage it by having separate instances on the remaining severs.

And this again is proof that pve players are just as much, if not more, toxic than any pvp player I've ever come across.

I don't see pvp players demanding whole zones are changed to suite their playstyle.

SWTOR has tried this in the past. The first casualties when the population first dropped a couple of years before I started playing were the PvP servers like the Jung Ma and the Bastion. Side-by-side flagging didn't work so well either. So they switched to separate map instances for PvP, which, BTW, were about 99% devoid of PvP activity, supported a population of bots, and were usually the refuge of solo players who wanted to actually get things done after the last bout of server merges.

I really like the idea in theory. I love the idea of everyone having their cake and eating it too. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work even when the technology supports it.

I agree 100% with what you say. It often makes me think how some of the PvE crowd from this game would have coped playing The Division, the Dark Zone makes Cyrodiil look like a day out at the coast... That place could be brutal.. I loved it, infact it’s the number 1 reason why I played the game... but even then though the game sold its self heavily for its pvp endgame PvE players still wanted a PvE only Dark Zone..

See, this just proves to me yet again that "fun" is relative. Everything you're saying is pretty much the antithesis of fun to me :D And I loved WvW in GW2 on occasion.

@dovahkiinHeart How so? I mainly pvp, but would do any pve content available to me.

Pve content can be challenging, for sure. But once you learn those mechanics, where is the challenge?

I can fight the same guy in pvp 4x, for example, and all 4 of those fights will be different.

So, where is the challenge and what group is afraid to take it?
