The problem is that you don't have oneInstead your processor is doing the work. You should consider getting a dedicated card, it does not have to be a top end one, i am running on ultra settings using just a mid-range $150 card (nvidia 750ti)

I be careful with bios update... I'm not guaranteeing any of these drivers (assuming they are updates compared to what driver version you have now) will fix the issue but they could be

I'd love to, and I know how easy it is to put a new card in a desktop, but I have no experience with popping one into a laptop. Haha.
Seems it could be a loose ribbon with those lines.

Pretty much, daunting as it is opening laptops up, it could be worth it. Even small vibrations can loosen those ribbons, like from the fans doing overtime while gaming.Seems it could be a loose ribbon with those lines.
Would that just mean I would need to pop my computer open and check to make sure everything is plugged in the way it's supposed to be? I've had this same problem with CIV 5 also. Seems to happen in both games after a certain amount of time. Not sure if it's a heat problem or something.
So since last night I've updated from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, cleaned as much dust as I could find out of my computer, and the servers have updated. I have not seen a single artifact since doing all these things! However, I am now having an issue where every few minutes there are large frame rate dips and the sound gets very slow and tinny or robotic (not sure how else to describe it). This lasts for about 20-30 seconds then everything snaps back to normal.
