Intel HD Integrated 4600

So I know this is a problem with my video card. I have Intel HD Integrated 4600, which I know isn't ideal. These fragmentations or whatever you would call them occur fairly frequently. My drivers are all up to date and I even re installed them to be safe. I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas for something else I might try.
Other specs are:

System Model: HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC
BIOS: F.11
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory: 8192MB Ram
Display info from DXDiag:
Name: Intel HD Grapics 4600
Approx. Total Memory 1792 MB
Current Display Mode: 1600 x 900 (32 bit) (60Hz)

Thanks for any help!

Well I don't have that and that's not really the kinda reply I'm looking for. Any ideas would be awesome but it seems kinda silly to just be snarky.

    Got it...

Is it actually reporting a BIOS version F.11?? there is a more up to date one and the Driver - Graphics ones I recommend check out

Seems it could be a loose ribbon with those lines.

The problem is that you don't have one :) Instead your processor is doing the work. You should consider getting a dedicated card, it does not have to be a top end one, i am running on ultra settings using just a mid-range $150 card (nvidia 750ti)

Think it's called artifact tearing... I think XD

I be careful with bios update... I'm not guaranteeing any of these drivers (assuming they are updates compared to what driver version you have now) will fix the issue but they could be

I'd love to, and I know how easy it is to put a new card in a desktop, but I have no experience with popping one into a laptop. Haha.

So you think maybe a BIOS update? It's definitely worth a try! I'll start doing some research into how to do that without messing things up. Also, not sure if you were trying to post a link or anything but I'm not seeing anything. And thanks a bunch for trying to help me out!

I wouldn't recommend replacing / upgrading hardware in a laptop either... what you get with a laptop... you're stuck with

Hahaha, yeah. I'm definitely wishing I'd have just gotten a desktop again. Next one certainly will be.

Would that just mean I would need to pop my computer open and check to make sure everything is plugged in the way it's supposed to be? I've had this same problem with CIV 5 also. Seems to happen in both games after a certain amount of time. Not sure if it's a heat problem or something.

May I also suggest blowing out the dust since the hardware especially CPU could be overheating and laptops tend to have *** poor ventilation...

Well, I tried both but it's still happening. I've been at this since I got home from work like 5 hours ago, so I'm gonna call it for the night and see what else I can find tomorrow. Thanks for all the ideas though! If you have anymore I'll definitely give them a try after work tomorrow.

Pretty much, daunting as it is opening laptops up, it could be worth it. Even small vibrations can loosen those ribbons, like from the fans doing overtime while gaming.

So since last night I've updated from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, cleaned as much dust as I could find out of my computer, and the servers have updated. I have not seen a single artifact since doing all these things! However, I am now having an issue where every few minutes there are large frame rate dips and the sound gets very slow and tinny or robotic (not sure how else to describe it). This lasts for about 20-30 seconds then everything snaps back to normal.

That sounds like a CPU spike. No idea exactly what causes it, but I occasionally get those while trying to run things not made to run on an integrated GPU. I suspect it's due to the CPU/GPU being on the same die and being overworked, but with an i7 processor I find that hard to believe.

I often play ESO on a laptop when I'm not home. It runs Windows 8 and has an Intel HD4000 and an i3 processor, with a paltry 8GB of ram(and another 8 of ReadyBoost ram). It's a step below what you have, but pretty similar. I'm not sure what settings you're on, but here's what I'd suggest to help with the issue:

    1) Turn off shadows. Seriously, they kill GPUs. Your framerate will improve immediately.

    2) Keep subsampling on Medium. Low looks like crap on all but the highest resolutions, and High will hurt your framerate with that GPU.

    3) Set the game's resolution to something like 1400x1050, or a step or two higher. I wouldn't suggest going below that if you want the game to look nice, though.

Tinker around with the settings until you find one that eliminates(or reduces the frequency of) the issue and meets your performance/eye candy needs.

Worked really well for about an hour. Now its happening every time I start a fight. My drivers updated when I installed Windows 8.1, so that might be part of it. I don't want to roll back the drivers though because I'm scared that'll just put me back to the original artifacting issue.
