How to get the 30 days free with a pre-paid game card? I dont have a credit/debit card.

begothprincessb14_ESO
I was going to pay for the game using store bought pre-paid cards, because i dont own a credit/debit card. So does that mean I have to buy a game card and enter the code, before I can get my 30 days? That isn't 30 days free, that's buy one get one. People who do have debit/credit cards get their 15$ charge refunded, however what about those of us who don't have it. Do we get penalized because we don't have one? Are you going to refund my 15$ game card code after proof that I can go to the store and buy one?

EDITED:
I think doing the "Contact Customer Support" way is stupid, it floods your call centers, and floods your emails. Why don't you just remove the required sub, or at least give the option like Blizzard does, where you can choose "I want to pay with Prepaid game cards" and it go through that way? If this charge really can be removed later, and if we can just get a CSR to remove the sub requirement then why even have the requirement in the first place?

I use a greendot prepaid visa not just for ESO but all online purchases. No overdraft fees and I dont have to use my actual checking account.

Exactly this is my issue as well and we are also forced to buy two months access instead of one, which is beyond bias and really poor.

Kind of illegal too saying we'd get free 30 days access and we do not.

You do get 30 days free. There is a statement right on the preorder page that says a subscription is required.
  • begothprincessb14_ESO
I don't have one of those. Even if I did, they charge you a 15$ fee, and refund it later. If i went to the store and bought a prepaid visa, and used it to authorize this transaction I would get the greendot overdrawn because there wouldn't be any funds on it.

If it is declined because there isnt money on the card you can call them. They will manually add the card and activate your free 30 days. Also you cannot overdraft a greendot card. Thats the great thing about it.

No they dont charge you for 30 days.

Yes they do. If you have a credit/debit card they put a 15$ charge on there that gets removed later. However if you dont have a credit card you have to activate a 15$ game card in order to get your 30 days free. so how am i not being charged for 30 days? Granted if I did have a credit card then the charge would be removed. BUT my issue is I dont. So in order for me to get my 15$, 30 days free I have to pay 15$ for a game card and use that as my sub method.

Why are there no prepaid time cards at the retailers? I went to buy mine today and Gamestop said they've received NOTHING from zenimax? Why were the cards not released on april 4th so we wouldnt get this interruption in our play time? Im so disapointed right now about this...

lol yeah... I didn't bother with my activation key yet since I'm waiting for things to quiet down (I mean in a good way with patches and that XD) wasn't wise for many to activate/setup subscription plan this early

I care about my gameplay experience... so will play the waiting game / browse forums till then

its a blatent cash grab by Zenimax that might ultimately destroy Bethesda's reputation, they want everyone to be on credit card subscriptions feeding them money.

And to think i held Bethesda in such a high regard. Shame, real shame. I have the exact same issue, I do posses a pre paid card but have no intention on setting a subscription plan, because i prefer Game Cards, and do not have any actual cash on my pay pal account, nor the prepaid.

There is a lot of frustration on this matter but I think some of it comes from the fact that we have become accustom to the F2P mentality when it comes to MMOs. I recall WoW, EVE, early LOTRO and many others that started as subscription models requiring a credit card up front and pre-authorizing them.

This is not outrageous, just something many MMO players have not ever seen or not seen in a very long time.

For me the frustration comes from the misinformation provided on this website in the support section. I trusted that I could buy a pre-paid card on release, just like this answer says on the link.

I disagree, given the fact that i paid for a service, acces to which, I am being denied at the moment. All of the games you have listed do (or did) recquire a subscription model similiar to this one, yes, but AFTER you use up the time you have paid for. And none of them recquire a full amount pre-authorization.

Outrageus is the correct word to use here. I am considering to quit the game entirely at this point.

If you can't add a CC or debit card to your account, contact support. They'll take care of it for you. Just make sure you let them know whether your ordered it through them or someone else. They will give you a 1 day code that you put in the prepaid section under billing when you try to redeem your activation key and this will allow you to use your free 30 days. Just make sure they give you the key, if they apply it themselves you still won't be able to add your key and you'll have to contact them again.

really? last time i checked if you spent the money and bought wow and they gave you a free trial you didnt have to enter in any addition information you just clicked a few times and played for however like the trial was for. and in this case its not even a free trial we bought this. it came as a part of the $80 imperial edition i bought. also why did they give us the pre release play time and a few day's after the release to play the game without entering in this information?

Yes last time you checked thats true for wow. But for the first 6 years of wow it was not true. Notice the words "started as subscription models requiring a credit card up front and pre-authorizing them."? Thats how it was with wow up till some time before Cata.

I sent them the mail explaining that problem, but all i got was completely mechanized and premade response explaining me how to do what i CAN'T do as i don't have a CC i can use for this. Do i have to ask them something specific? Do they even write the responses themselves?

That is what most of us are getting sadly, you have to keep at it i think to actually get somewhere. as i said i've been trying for four days, i had a mod message me earlier saying they were looking at my ticket and i'll receive a response soon, i've received nothing yet but i'm hopeful i guess.

That was three and a half hours ago, i'm not sure the waiting times at this time.

That's not correct, LoTRO certainly didn't require a card or payment plan set up to start playing..
In fact when it launched LOTRO in the EU when run by Codies had a short free trial, after which you needed to buy the game itself which came with 30 days playtime.. once the 30 days were up you needed to sign upto a subscription plan, or buy a game card there was no 30 days pre-authorisation.

Out of many paid MMO's that I've played this is the first that has actually and categorically required a funded and set up subscription plan even prior to activating the 30 days inclusive gaming. While it hasn't affected me particularly I do think it's an uneccesary hurdle for some players and that ZOS have created a rod for their own back so to speak.

All MMO's (non F2P) obviously need a game account creating but some just go with the in box cd key for 30 days access, others like Rift either required you to set up a plan, or choose game card.. the thing is if you chose game card it just let you straight into the game and your 30 days (or 60 if you bought the CE) started counting down, at the end of which if you hadn't entered a game card code you'd be barred access.

It just all seems unecessary to me...
