Yes, please. Give us ru chat.
This will not solve problem completely, but it will at least allow ru (and other) players to freely speak their language outside guild without annoying english speaking players (I am russian. I hate to speak russian in /zone. But there's no options for speaking with more then one random people!). And ask questions to people who will understand it. So some people will use it. Less cyrillic in chat is better then like it is now.

its a discrimination against national origin. they will sue you

Discrimination would be if only that chat would be available. Just have one more option - isn't a problem.
If you are on PC and this really annoys you (personally I don't have problems with that) there is an addon called "Cyrillic Chat Filter" - it filters out any chat message that contains Cyrillic font so you don't even see those message if they clutter the chat for you.

Haven't installed it for a long time so I don't know if it works with the current version of the game:
    https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1538-CyrillicChatFilter.html

What to do if I'm also russian, but still don't like too much cyrillic in zone? )
    mocap wrote: »

    1. There is no need in really big amount of players to make it annoying,
    2. Localization cost a lot - and will give nearly no money back. Too few people, who likes TES, doesn't play ESO only because of language. At least since RuESO. So everybody will pay for localization few will need (because they can't say "hey, pay to play with ru localization"). Do you want to have higher prices for everything for attracting most toxic and rude part of ru players that doesn't know anything about TES and want just to "win" and insult? Because that's who will come.

No, it's much better. This "Horoshaya gildiya ishet igrokov" doesn't cause so much mess in chat as it's cyrillic equivalent.

However this "xopoLLla9l ruJlbgu9l UWET UrPoKoB" can still be recognized as spam.

First of all there are plenty of other languages coming through zone chat, from German and French to Turkish. I could care less which language people type, but the Cyrillic font is HUGE which pushes out the other messages faster because it takes up more space.

What does crack me up is guild adverts in other languages with only the guildname in English. Why make a guild for Russian or German speakers only and then give it an English name anyway? ;)

I'm Russian and I beg ZOS to create a Russian chat. No, I will never use it. I'll always stay in English chat and write in English. But I hate to read things in my native language in zone chat. Because, you know, 99% of these messages are just strong language. It usually starts like this:
    - Any Russians here?
    - Yep
    - (strong language expressing joy)
And than these 2 persons (or more) start spamming strong language. Why are they doing it? Oh, mabe they think it is fun? Nobody understands them, nobody will ban them... Well, it is not fun at all. I hate it. Please, @ZOS, give them a sandbox to play, make a zone chat healthy!

There's been a breakout of Russian speakers on PC EU writing in Russian in the zone chat.

Everybody else makes the effort to speak in English or write in the appropriate language zone chat but Russians don't have one. It's gotten quite annoying and alienating seeing the chat filled with incomprehensible characters 1/3rd of the time.

Can we get a Russian zone chat already?

I recommend the Mute List addon for all PC players. Tend to use some variation of it in every MMORPG. From what I've noticed, quite often these spammed messages don't actually come from inconsiderate players but from gold sellers on hacked accounts in which case a zone chat wouldn't make any difference.

Usually see either the exact same or a series of extremely similar messages over and over from multiple accounts which points to something other than Russian speakers just chatting in their own language. My first thought was guild recruitment but unless all these accounts advertise the same guild or use the same recruitment speech, it's very likely that we're seeing gold selling spam.

The main reason for the additional hostility against Russian, I think, is the writing. The characters are unfamiliar to many people, so even if it's an innocent guild recruitment post (that could be recognisable in German, French, or Polish by key words sounding vaguely similar to "guild"), people feel they have no idea what's going on.
But most importantly, it's the frankly horrific Cyrillic font with its wide spacing that makes every Russian message stick out like a sore thumb.
Yes, there is an addon that alleviates this, but most people won't bother to download it - and frankly, I don't really blame them. It's ZOS' fault, and implementing that travesty was a very weird decision in the first place.

Cyrillic must be simultaneously banned from the general chat too, since I do know from my previous mmo experience that a lot of them will not go to the designated zone because they feel themselves "kings" of the general chat.

    Joking aside

You still do not get it, just adding /russianchat won't solve issue (same way with german players, they have their own chat yet they chat in /z chat) so anyway we would have to have implemented cyrillic chat filter option so that when somebody types in it he would not be visible to us. Simply going to all of my guilds chat (that you can make yourself) and not seeing /z chat at all works best for me, I do not need to see /z chat 24/7.

Yes, I already said a bit earlier that it won't solve problem completely. But there will be less cyrillic in chat. Because now we have no place to speak with more then one player outside guild/group. You see? Even adequate players have to use zone chat to ask something, fing russian group/guild (not everybody know english) and so on. With ru chat they can use it instead of zone. What is better, 100% of problem remaining or 50%?

Filter also doesn't solve problem. Some russian players also want to see less cyrillic in zone, but how we will filter language we are using in place we have to use it?

It's not "ghetto". It would be if russian players will be allowed to use only ru chat. That's just one more option. Option many russian players want. Because it will also be useful for them!
Yes, font needs to be fixed. But even with fixed font it will be better to have ru chat then not to have.

Well, its the same on the german language too - but no one uses the de-zone chat. I dont know if you need those language based chats in the game. The open Chat is about all languages and yes, cyrillic posts are irritating (because of the symbols)- but you're seeing turky, swedish and german posts too.

But Hell, i can live with all that languages in the open world chat, too. It does what it does.

Zone chat is for everyone. This also means that it's better to use language everyone will understand. And it's not good to occupy it with long, terribly looking messages few can read. Just not polite.
If they will add ru zone that will do nothing bad, because people who want to use zone will still be able to do it. But people who don't, will have another option. No one loses from this!

And many russian players want it. Because it's much more comfortable to write in chat where everybody understand you and nobody is annoyed with unknown language.

Exactly. As much as I see Russian, I see German and little bit of French all the time. But none EVER responded here. To me, German sounds like "DAS ZAWKRERHER MAHERZACHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" even when they write poems. So I'd take Russian any day. I can read it and understand it and it's actually a very soft language.

    2) Flood. Adding specific ru zone chat will solve "flooded zone chat" problem a bit. because if your lang are ger/eng, then no need to show you other lang unless you specify that in settings. It is pure flood, isnt it? I dont know ger and when i see huge recruitment msg in zone chat - it is simply flood for me.

    3) What is the purpose of zone chat?

Sorry, it's YOU to whom this is politics and YOU stuck in the Cold War, soviet mindset, thinking to know Russians from the trash mass media, but actually having no clue. Citing one Russian guy shaming of his natives is by no means a set standard or hallmark. Again, that is so typical of Slavs to go against each other. I have never seen Germans, Brits or French being ashamed of what they are and how they write. Nor did I see threads here about Germans storming the zone chat (it happened so many times - zone, BGs, Cyrodiil). It's all about Cyrillic alphabet and Russians - 1000% politics, 0% tolerance or "happy healthy international gaming", as far as this thread goes. Luckily, in RL, it's much better.
