Game Time Cards?

abe44a_ESO
where can we buy the game time cards to redeem for our monthly subscriptions? What stores will you be selling them at? Do i have to buy a code online? Where can i find information about this.
  • abe44a_ESO
i called game stop in my city and they claim to know nothing of a pre paid game time code or any kind of card. im trying to call wal-mart but the person on the phone sounds like he cant find it. so my original question still needs an answer. WHAT major retailers will be selling the cards.

I posted a topic on this already. There probably won't be any and there is no official announcement for them.

I wonder how many customers, like me, will be lost over this issue because I don't have (or want) a Bank Account or Credit Card.

    Within; Without.
  • abe44a_ESO
on the account page there is an option to redeem a game time code. whats the point of saying you will offer them at major retailers if they are not.

will there be an option just to purchase it through this website with a debit card? i live in a small town and i really dont want to travel so far in hopes these cards just may or may not be there... in world of warcraft you could just add time through there website and there you go, no anoying lines at the walmart and long travel.
  • abe44a_ESO
there is an option to pay with debit card, but i want to use cash

I don't think there are any game time cards even in stores right now, despite the option on the payment choice page. I preordered mine and then found out it didn't even exist when launch day arrived. I hope they add a way to buy NON-recurring game time on this game, like other MMO's do.

Hmm, a quick Google search on "elder scrolls game time card" gave me this:

    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=elder+scrolls+online+game+time+card&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb&gfe_rd=cr&ei=FCA_U5mSGLDR8gfQ2YDgCw

Seems the time cards are available in the UK from a number of retailers, including Amazon's UK site: http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Elder-Scrolls-Online-Game/dp/B00J952JLK/ref=pd_ybh_1

So i called every GameStop, Target, WalMart, and BestBuy in my city and they all have the copy of the game, but have not heard of Game Time Cards nor do they know if they are receiving any in the near future. I find it hard to believe you didnt anticipate people not being able to buy a subscription with a credit card or online for that matter. There are people who still prefer to use cash for buying things. I would love the option to buy Game Time Cards at my local gamestop so i dont have to pay online or set up a subscription. Devs please answer this thread.

I agree completely with this person we need developer feedback to ensure we can all play the game without having to wait for game time cards to become available. I received an email from Elder Scrolls Online Support stating that cards were available at participating retailers worldwide but All the gamestops in my area have no inclination as to when they are receiving shipments.

I talked to best buy yesterday. They said they should have them in two weeks. Amazon has then but the ship date is two to five weeks from now it says.

Where are your time cards being sold? The retailers I have spoken with say they have no idea what I am talking about and others are telling me that it's going to be 2 to 3 weeks before they receive them? Since that is effectively 1/4 to 1/2 of my free play time I am a little disgusted by that fact. I know this is a monumental task you have undertaken with this game, but kicking me out when I spent $105.00 for it is mildly irritating considering I am supposed to have free play time. Surely there is a way to rectify this.

    Please note

I do not have a credit/debit card anymore

I do not use pay pal

I fully understand you had your reasons for setting up the start up the way you did but myself and plenty of other people are being put out by the fact you want us to pay for a month before we can use our free month.......

I posted this on another thread but it is better off here:

I don't mind the fact that with CC and Paypal purchases they want to authenticate the charge. But this whole issue has become a nightmare for people who either can't or prefer not to use Credit Cards or Paypal.

My issue is with the Game Time Cards which I am suppose to be able to use as a preferred payment method as stated by their very own release.

"If you prefer to use one of the following payment methods, payment is processed at the time of selecting your preferred subscription plan.

    Game Time Cards [via Retailer]
    GiroPay
    iDeal
    Paysafe Card
    WebMoney"
    - Refer to pg.1 of this thread and FAQ page

"We understand that there are gamers out there who might be skeptical about providing credit/debit card information. There are also gamers who might be too young to have a credit/debit card which is why time cards will come in handy.

The time cards are priced at $29.99 each and will offer gamers 60-day access to the game. This is pretty much the same if gamers were to pay a monthly subscription, although this means that gamers will have to run out and buy a new card if it runs out."

    http://www.ubergizmo.com/2014/04/bethesda-will-sell-the-elder-scrolls-online-time-cards/

Unfortunately, you can't use something ZOS doesn't even have in the retail stores yet!! At least not in Canada or the United States. I am not sure of elsewhere. I was informed by Future Shop, Best Buy, Walmart, EB Games and Amazon these cards will NOT be available until around April 28th, 2014.

Upon learning the Game Time Cards are not going to be available for 2-5weeks for most retailers. I sent an email to customer service to find out what is going to be done.

Daniel in customer service responded to me that I should go get a Prepaid Visa card and use that instead.

    ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!

I don't own a credit card. I will not use PayPal ever again. I refuse to use Prepaid CCs due to the extra fees a person is charged all the time to use them in my Country.

So much for being able to use my "PREFERRED" sub method!!

"The Early Access period has now ended. To activate your 30 days of included game time, log into your game account at account.elderscrollsonline.com and follow the prompts to select your preferred subscription method."

ZOS CSRs should not be attempting to force customers over to a sub method they do not want to use!

And what company in their right mind doesn't have a major subscription payment method like Game Time Cards available for purchase in retail stores at least a month prior to Launch so that their customers are prepared?

Before you assume, I don't have the funds to pay a sub for this game. I want to use GTCs because it give ME control over my sub method. I pay for what I want and only when I want and don't have to worry about something happening in my life and forgetting about cancelling a sub made on a CC. I have plenty of money in my safe ready to purchase several GTC's but, can't do that until they are in retail stores. It also makes it easier for friends and family to buy me cards to use for my Bday and Xmas.

There is no excuse what so ever for ZOS not to have something in place for those who want to use GTCs, knowing full well that these cards are NOT in retail stores yet. Those who choose to use GTCs as a preferred method of payment should be sent a code to their account email which will activate their 30-day free game play once entered. Then at the end of that time frame, their account should be locked until they enter a GTC code for the next 60 days.

The fact that the ZOS CSR was automatically attempting to force me to use a CC, Paypal or Prepaid CC as a method of payment instead of working with me to solve the issue with the payment method I prefer, tells me upfront that ZOS is attempting to force people to use pre-authorized monthly subscriptions that they may not want.

As a result of all of this, I have lost a lot of faith in the company as a whole. I don't trust their business practices any more, even though I love the game. I am even considering returning my 2 physical Imperial Editions to the store, or selling them for a mark up since I haven't even opened them yet.
Far too many characters to list any more.
  • mechsoldiersalvatorenub18_ESO
This saddened me because I didn't realize I needed a registered payment method before I could get my free 30 days of access. Now I sit here with a newly updated game, register code in hand and no way to play it...

In my opinion, they should wait until the "trial" is over before asking for payment options. The time cards aren't even out yet, which is what I'm going to rely on for paying for this game. I have no other method of payment, unfortunately.
  • TheAuraKeeper
I can't believe this. well played ZOS, they even put this in semi bold print under the other requirements heading. Effectively hiding it from people checking the system requirements yet getting away with it legally. You have to give them credit for great marketing techniques. This still upsets me however and i don't think ill forgive them for making me have to wait another month to play this game again. I WANT MY FREE MONTH NOW. Do you hear me give it to us players who payed for it, we all are going to get the cards once they come out so just give us the time we already bought while we wait for them. Its not that hard to do just add the option of no subscription to the game activation. I leave it in there hands.

So, go to WalMart, get a prepaid debit card (such as Bluebird [American Express]) that doesn't have fees, register it with paypal and pay for 1 month, then swap to GTC's when they're readily available. Simple solution, and definitely not rocket science. You can make any excuse on why not to do it.. you can cast all the blame you want.. but the fact of the matter still remains. If you want to play the game, suck it up and do what I mentioned above. If not, find something else to play. Problem solved, have a nice day.

I agree with everyone here that this is an entirely ridiculous way to do business, I bought early access on good faith that I would actually get 30 days of gametime included. Now I have my game and cannot play. I don't mind using my card to pay but it's the beginning of the month and rent etc. is due and I was a fool and actually thought ZOS would deliver on their promise. It is completely possible to authorize a card for $0.01 to be sure it is a valid card etc. etc. Just because I cannot buy another month of gametime should not mean I can't use the time I already paid for.

Same here. My partner and I purchased under the assumption that you got the 30 days, then would be prompted to enter payment information to continue playing, a la World of Warcraft. Except not. This almost smacks of them knowing the game will probably go FTP in six months or less and scrabbling for as much as they can get up front. Fail all around.

It makes me even more annoyed that GTC's either won't exist at all/won't be available until the end of the month depending on what Nebthet was told is correct. And it makes me erect the spine of anger that Zenimax doesn't seem to care to comment on anything anyone has said, at least so far as I can tell.

At least in waiting a month they might have more time to work out the issues in the game, or some of them, anyway.

Don't know what your options are with the US or other EU or world wide places.. But in the UK, Game sells them, both store and online. Once paid the code is emailed to you. Then it's just copy -> Redeem Code, Paste.

OK, so you can pre-order the time cards at GameStop and their street dated to come in on the 28th. I know I saw three other time cards that will work, much like ultimate cash works for FFXIV to buy crysta. *sigh* I just wanna play.

Wanted to buy Game Time Card --> not available in my area.
Went out and got a PaySafeCard --> no option to use PaySafeCard to place my subscription order.

Locked out of game despite (still) being willing to pay for subscription, because there is no available option for me to pay for subscription.

Still waiting to hear from Support and hopefully fix this issue.

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? Many of us had played for the game already. Not to mention we get this subscription plan option thrown in our faces. And to add insult to injury, the playtime cards are NOT available everywhere even though on the ESO website it states that the game time cards will be available WORLDWIDE. THE BEST THING THAT WOULD HAVE HELPED ALL OF US AND YOUR BUSINESS IS IF YOU WERE TO MAKE THESE CARDS AVAILABLE DAYS BEFORE THE OFFICIAL RELEASE OF THE GAME... EVERYWHERE.
