It is waaayyyyy past time for performance to be restored and changes made to fix the lag

An older video but explains and examples the issue PERFECTLY.

https://youtu.be/IzFS4RKA5uc?t=558

The important part starts around 9-10 minutes.

The automatic anti-bot measures need to be removed so performance can be restored, and it seems as though these automatic anti-bot measures have not been working for quite awhile

ZOS please focus more attention/development and fixing important issues like these that can make the game literally unplayable at certain times.

Went to watch again and got nothing but errors

I wouldn't bother. When it comes to reverting objectively bad changes, both ZOS and most players will dig their heels in and say no

If they had the ablity to do it, they would have done it by now.
In saying that, crown store is still racking in the money so why "fix" anything?

Important to continue to shine lights on the problems and raise awareness.

A "why bother" attitude only contributes to the problems and hurts the game.

But ignoring it has worked so well for the last 4 years. If people continue to buy crowns and eso+ they wont fix a thing

Agree with this (at least the first point), if ZOS could fix the issues and shake the reputation of ESO's bad performance they would have done so by now.
They've tried things over the years to cut it down and some has worked a little other things haven't. They could revert some of the changes made in the infamous "lighting patch" but I believe most of those changes were to make cheating/botting harder for people.

I just wish there was more information on what they were trying and ideas they had for new solutions, it's very quiet for a while then we hear about one change which might help, then it can be quiet again for months before we hear about any more.

Removing the automatic anti-bot measures might just be the first step in restoring performance and helping quite a bit with the lag issues that just seem to keep getting worse and worse

If the Anti bot things don't work, and they appear they don't, then remove them and have GM's watch over the most prominent site of botting, that would work.

(P.S in all my time playing ESO i have never seen a GM)

Someone was sniffing around a couple days ago, and tied a lot of the (potential) lag issues to the anti-DDOS service that ZOS uses. Akamai, I think. I didn't bother to sit there and run ping tests myself, but if that's accurate, this isn't anything to do with server side performance, and everything to do with actually getting messages to and from the server.

Which, I mean, it tracks. Last year, some little snot had their account banned, and started DDOSing the game hard. So, the service is needed, but it's also causing performance issues for us.

You want to know why we have performance issues... One word.... CROWN STORE!

I would be willing to bet money that 90% human resource hours assigned to crown store with barely any on performance

I mean its quite obvious that performance has severely degraded in Cyrodiil and its unreal that it has gotten worse inexplicably. Its clear that the game can perform better so the lack of ability to fix so is mind boggling. We used to play in a much better performing environment so the capability is there to get back to that but the resources arent dedicated to it. If its a choice of... produce new content and make money or invest production time to fix under-the-hood issues... then its a simple business decision since the game's income isnt being effected by the performance problems yet. No reason to invest into fixing it especially when PvP is a minority crowd.

This isnt a.. why does pvp get the shaft rant. I love the Pve in this game too but now that the performance issues are creeping into the Pve realm too. Maybe we can have a more honest assessment that development time needs to get back to release performance capability. Pre-lighting patch.

I agree it needs to be fixed but I believe that if it could be fixed, it would have happened long before now.

I have a feeling it would require either a complete recoding of the game or the technology doesn't exist yet. I also have to wonder how much of it is the old, outdated internet infrastructure in many parts of the U.S.

ISPS refuse to spend the money on it because they think the Govt should pay for it. The government doesn't want to pay for other either so we end up with lines so patchworked and spliced together so many times, it doesn't work well any more.

Akamai causes higher latency by 10-20ms, but it is only one issue. The worse issue is zos' bad server performance, or the general design of their client-server architecture. They did a patchwork hack to move lots of computation to the server and they lack the comptence to design a better working solution. They probably decided the impact is too large and not worth it.

did you even what the video? He said it. Eso has one of the best communities out there. I can say 100% of the reason im still playing eso is the community.

I can say I have progressively hated this game more and more every single patch. I havent actually played this game in over half a yr, I just sit and talk to players in guild chat, if someone needs help with something, i go help them and the rest of the time I farm to make money for my guilds.

For the last week since murkimire patch notes came out, I have logged on for maybe 15 minutes a day get an even ticket and then log out. Starting to not feel like putting the effort in to even doing that.

When I started playing this game I was on for 16 hrs a day, guild chat was full, most of the time we have 2 full groups running in cyro, on busy nights more. 200+ players online. Now were lucky to have 60.....

none of my other guild are doing better, morrowind was the first giant hit and everything since then has just faded. It sucks

ZOS did, it seems, find enough time to nerf Cyrodiil's Ward and Dreugh King Slayer sets. The former no longer grants the mounted speed buff, and the latter's post-enemy-kill speed buff was reduced from 20 seconds to 8 seconds. It isn't easy to deduce why these changes were necessary.

We gotta keep trying to get them to change it around to better performance. They should put back where we see the friendly aoe effects and instead make a setting where you can turn it on for reduced graphics, like shadows and other effects, tone them down to basic levels for performance. I am talking about Xbox. This might already exist on PC.

What could they do about it? How do other games not have this problem?
