i want to know why...

michaelfomenkocub18_ESO
Why is it that although i purchased a game that comes with a 30 day subscription do i need to give you my credit card information or purchase a time card in order to get the 30 days that i bought with my game? It may just be me but that seems very shady of yall.

Honestly? I don't really know. Maybe ask every other sub-based MMOs that did this. The only difference here is the temporary authorization. I don't remember any of the other sub MMOs I've played doing a temp auth, even for $1.

yes, why? Why should I buy an additional 30 days of game time to play those 30 days that I have to start? I just want to play those days that I have!

I agree, I didn't have to put my CC info in for FFXIV realm reborn to get my 30 free days! All i did was make an account put in my game code and bam I was in the game no hitch, then come 28 days I got a warning that i will have two days left then on the 30th day I could not log in due to needing sub fee, which at that point i put in bam! simple easy! Not this PUT IN YOUR INFO NOW! right in your face! jeez can i play my 30 free days first thanks!

I can't answer about the temp authorization but every subscription MMO I have played back to Everquest in 1999 has asked for CC info on day one, before allowing you in game, regardless of free time given.

The only difference is Zenimax lied about having 30 days of free time. They are just charging us at the end of it, so it is not free since we cannot play until we set up the payment method.

what other sub based mmo are you speaking of? WoW buy the game get the time included without buying more first, FFXIV same thing, the list goes on out of dozens of mmos ive played this is the first time ive had this happen. why another thread about this? because its a shady policy thats annoying a lot of individuals like myself

for those of us who dont use cc finding the as of yet non existent game time cards is a bit of an issue. in the states they are no where to be found either through lack of proper stocking or not yet being available.

First of all, back when I bought WoW you absolutely had to input billing information first. This was back during BC. Sure, maybe they changed it at some point, but they definitely started out the same way.

As for other MMOs...SWTOR, Lineage 2, Aion, Rift, Vanguard, Everquest 2, Planetside 1. Obviously these are all F2P now (Vanguard is getting/has gotten shut down), but they all started out the same way.
  • josephirothb16_ESO
FFXIV did not do that, I Go tmy game on black friday last year and downloaded the game and logged in with out putting in my CC info, Not only me, but my whole raid group from wow which was another 9 people who didn't have to put in there cc info bub!

i started in bc, never had to put in info, i bought the box set vanalia and bc from a store, came with 30 days, installed and created my account and started right up on my free 30 days. paid with time cards for the majority of my time on wow, it was mid cata before the first time i paid with a cc so for over 4 years i played wow without ever giving them my cc info... tell me again how 'everyone' does this lol

What if I don't have a CC and I am using gametime cards and the store ran out of game cards and won't have them for three weeks, and I have 30 days free time but I can't use it because I live in a small town and only one game store that sell those cards and i have to wait 3 weeks.

So much for 30 days of free play time with purchase if we are locked out until we can pay and there isn't an option for us to pay. :(

SWTOR, rift, and aion were busts, so i wouldnt know what they required since i never wasted money on them. the others ive never heard of, i thought EQ was dead and never heard of a second. tell me again why using failed and dead mmos are a good example? lets stick to successful ones none of which in memory have required this to get time already paid for

So this is pretty much screwing the people who don't get paid until the end of the week. So because of this I can't play until Thursday? I have like 6 Bucks in my account. They can't take out like 1 dollar? THEY have to take out 14.99 to authorize it?!

It is simple as either you suck it up and do it and get to playing or you don't and you don't play simple as that. You knew this was going to be a Pay To Play game and providing a means to be charged after your 30 days is up is reasonable. Unorthodox but reasonable.

I've been playing mmos since Star Wars Galaxies. This is the first time I've ever been prevented like this. Before in the past if anything I put my information in and I can play. They don't try to take out the entire 14.99 just to authorize it! Take out like one day dollar!

i already paid for 30 days, they dont need to see if i have funds now to pay again in 30 days. thats like you going to mcdonalds and after paying for your big mac you having to prove that you have money to buy another one tomorrow before getting the one you just paid for.

So you're the one that wanted examples of other MMOs that have done this, but now that I've provided examples you want to narrow the scope of this to only MMOs that you, personally, have deemed successful?

Care on sharing some of those examples? Oh and please don't mention FFXIV. You know, the MMO that failed so hard they decided to remake it.

For the record, I don't agree that this subscription requirement should happen. I just can't let people wrongly suggest that other MMOs haven't done this.

But they are not providing the means to be charged.
Game time cards are not available at retail, meaning there is no way to enter the code. Anyone who doesn't have a credit card, or does not set up recurring payments on his or her card has no means to be charged simply due to lack of availability.

Now your just being a baby, we arent talking cold hard facts here,I dont CARE whether hard facts are present or not. What i consider a win, is a win to me, if you want to spray hard facts in my face, ill say i still enjoy the game a ton, while everyone hates it.

Aion - my guild went into the game, left it immediately, that was considered a fail to them. I stayed because i loved it, that = a win for me.

Quit argueing bs nonsense. Cold hard facts mean jack when someone loves it regardless.

I can confirm this. I also started back in early BC, this was while I was stationed over in Korea. I did not use credit cards during my tour over there. My game time was paid for via their 60 day game cards that I bought from our on base PX.

Aaaaand you still don't provide your examples. But anyway, speaking of logic, since many of the MMOs I listed "failed" (which is opinion and not fact, by the way) long after their release, then it is impossible to logically contribute their failure to requiring a subscription in order to redeem their included 30 days. Therefore, their "failure" is irrelevant to this conversation. #logic
