nope. no issue. if jewelry crafting was as you say, vet trials would be worthless, and the golden vendor would be worthless.
oh for god's sakes. 1. they would not be worthless. 2 ITS NOT SOLELY ABOUT GOLD JEWELRY
it needs
to be
on PAR with other crafts.
somehow other crafting professions didn't make vet trials and vet dungeons worthless. making jewelry slightly less of a pain? is not going to do that either. bringing up master writs to the point where they are ON PAR in terms of worth to craft with other master writs? is not going to make trials and dungeons worthless.
and last but not least. MAKING JEWELRY CRAFTING FURNISHINGS LESS OF A PAIN. is not going to make dungeons and trials worthless.
its not even about time investment. its about UNREASONABLY MORE PROLONGED COMPARED TO OTHER CRAFTING PROFESSIONS. investment.
I'm just gonna guess you weren't playing at launch, when Alloys/Rosin/Wax/Kuta were rare, and their prices were similarly high to the current cost of platings.
You also need between 6-7.33x as many Alloys/Rosin/Wax/Kuta as you need platings (9-11 weapon/gear slots vs 3 jewelry, and 2x because only need 1/2 the platings), so having the extra 10:1 in there is only a 30 or 40% increase over the other crafts... still not seeing a problem.
I'll admit, I don't craft stuff for houses... I can't even decorate my IRL house, why the hell would I do it in game? lol... However, 95% of the responses to this problem in the now hundreds of threads seem to primarily focus on the jewelry aspect, which is why I am.
As somebody said earlier... it's built for the long term, it took 4 years for the other markets to get to this point. Let's not rush to judgement after only 5 months.

Sorry but you get out of it what you put into it, putting into it for me is having 15 max level jewellers doing daily writs for a chance of grains. ZOS did say and rightly so that it was never meant to be an easy option. It’s true that until Wolfhunter dlc it was way too grindy and time consuming to gold out even just one item. It’s a lot better now with the reduction of platings required and in my opinion it sits in a good place.
With just my daily writs and maybe 1.5hrs per day farming I can just about manage to make 2 gold platings in a good day and still manage 1 on a very bad day, I would say my average number if platings per week that I can create sits around 10. Failing having the time/commitment or number of maxed jewel crafters to make your own platings doesn’t exclude you from upgrading because there are plenty of platings for sale in guild stores and gold in this game is not hard to come by imo.

It's possible, sure.
But is it fun?

I have 1 Chromium dust.
1.
ONE FREAKING CHROMIUM DUST.
Maybe RNG hates me, but this is ridiculous.
You need to do the JC daily writs, occasionally (not sure how often) I get a chromium dust in my coffer reward. With 2 crafters, one fully leveled in JC, the other at copper level, I've got about 4 chromium platings so far. Yay? Problem is, I have maybe 7 zircon platings, those seem to be the hardest to come by. Currently, I have no interest in making gold jewelry, I'd prefer getting zircon dust in my daily JC reward.
I suppose I should spend more time doing dolmen and daily quests to get a few purple jewelry to get a chance at a zircon dust. But maybe I'll just spend gold buying zircon platings when I need them. I would venture a guess that the rarity of platings is what is driving the increase in bots and low-level "players" camping blacksmithing/JC nodes. Someone is gathering large quantities of pewter and refining them for the platings dust.

But why would you do that when surveys exist for pretty much exactly this purpose?

13 platings in almost half a year. THIRTEEN. compared to 100+ of refining other profession crafting mats. and you still don't see a problem? jewelry crafting is NOT on par with other crafting professions. not. even. remotely.

sigh. grabs a pillow for when I bang my head on my desk I don't bruise myself.
its NOT. ONLY. ABOUT. GOLD. JEWELRY.
but even then - to that reply about 13 platings. while making about the same effort - you get TEN. TIMES. THAT. of other upgrade materials.
There are only two issues I see with JC.
One: the value of those master writs makes them absolutely trash. If they require X times as many 'tempers' to complete as a regular wood/smith/cloth writ, then they should also reward X times the number of vouchers. I don't think I have ever done a JC master writ and I do master writs pretty much on a daily basis. They're just not worth it.
Two: if gold tempers are required for furnishing plans, they should take the grains and not the platings. That's saying that I have to dump like 10 Tempering Alloys to craft a knicknack for my bedside table. Nope. Not gonna happen. Sorry.

So... if your reply was in response to mine primarily: I did specifically say I agree that the number of furnishing recipes that requires gold plating is a bit absurd.
That said... yes. I know it takes 10x that. I also specifically said that as well. And yeah, I'm personally fine with that. Alinor recipes aside, Chromium Plating is used for far, far less than other gold upgrade mats are. Also... I'm really quite okay with the concept of jewelry mats being expensive and rare. And I say that as both a Master Crafter AND a housing enthusiast. I, too, build expensive furniture.

its not just gold plating. I actualy have MORE problems with green and blue and especially purple recipes.
and no, I'm NOT fine with that. this is dwemmer furniture all over again. and. it. SUCKS.
as for that last post about trivializing other professions. oy. becoming a master crafter takes a YEAR, give or take, thanks to research. you STILL need to gather up enough skill points to fully upgrade your passives that make upgrading gear cost the smallest possible number of upgrade materials. you still need to GET those upgrade materials.
its not trivial. but it IS, FINALLY accessible. is that what you have a problem with? that unwashed masses actualy get to wear set purple gear? that more then very select few can actualy "gasp" upgrade to gold? that you are no longer in a very exclusive club?
regardless of whether you pay someone or craft yourself, rarity of platings IS a problem.
some of you people are just..... to try and put it in terms you may understand. the more inaccessible something is? the FEWER customers you actualy have, becasue bulk of the players have trouble making THAT much gold.

...no? Those are some major assumptions you're making about me and my motives, and... they're false. I craft expensive things for others for cheap or free all the time, because I want people to be able to enjoy fancy armors and furniture and the like. In fact, crafting things for profit is a very rare thing for me in general. I've posted more than a few times on these forums criticizing the whole "exclusivity" thing that ZOS seems to promote, especially with things like limited-time mounts. Exclusivity is pretty meaningless to me. Also, I mentioned my master crafter status as context - specifically, that I spend a lot of time working with expensive upgrade mats, so I really do understand the time and gold that can go into this sort of thing. I don't know why you would assume that was me trivializing other professions. (Also, wait, what? How would that even work?)
However, I'm okay with a thematically rare material being, well, rare. I think it's okay for it to be considerably more rare than other crafting mats. That's it. That's all. I do think that some things clearly need some tweaking, such as the glut of recipes that require entirely too many rare mats, and over half of JC master writs being garbage, but thematically I'm fine with it. Clearly you disagree, and that's fine. But no, it's not some sort of elitism on my part.
