Psijic Villa stripped bare

Would it have killed ZOS to have left the plants that was in the PTS unfurnished version? At least as a house warming.

Edit: "It" was suppose to been there. Corrected. Thankfully the Moderators realized the syntax and did not censor.

You can buy most of those plants from the Housing Vendor in Alinor or from the Crown Store.

They also took the fire logs out of the fireplace that was in the unfurnished preview.
By the way only 1 fireplace in a place that big?
Do appreciate the free house though.

I am curious to see what people actually do with them. Those houses are too large to be decorated in any meaningful way IMO with item counts being what they are.

It certainly doesnt seem right that the item made available for preview is not the item which was provided. They should have provided the same unfurnished version that was available for preview.

I just can't understand it, too. The only thing I feel about this villa - that I'm very grateful to ZOS. I have a beautiful house in a beautiful place, full of waterfalls and space to play with!

It's not that we're ungrateful for it...? It's more that the preview they had seemed like the real "unfinished" version (I'm new, so I had no idea the trees and things were something I'd have to place. When I saw the preview, I actually thought those trees and things were stationary items that could not be moved or changed) and now part of our item count has to go to putting those trees and things back in...when they could have just been a part of the way the outside of the house looked? But now it's really bare. It just feels like our item count gets unnecessarily consumed by simply making a property actually look more...well...complete, when the former preview that included trees was a much nicer starting point.

The other thing that's troubling me is that I can on partially remember how the thing used to look, and I really don't know what half of the items that were outside are named so that I can go buy them

You mean like literally every other house in the game? Or did you think the trees that came with other houses didnt count as furnishing items.

Usually you get what the preview shows and in every unfinished house used to be some plants though - until now. I'm very surprised that they changed it.

Wait they got rid of the plants? I’m a bit disappointed at this, but honestly I never really noticed the plants. I just hope that the fire and logs are in the fireplace so I don’t have to buy it.

But on the bright side I don’t have to buy bookshelves for the library part of my home.

Edit: never mind, I do have to buy bookshelves

Yeah. "Unfurnished" houses still usually have a handful of lights, some bushes & rocks in the garden, etc. For them to go out of their way to make the third version of the house ("utterly unfurnished"?) is a bit odd.

my only complaint is 300-700 item cap is too low for houses this large.
1000-1400 would be fair as a good balance.

I'm making mine into a place of contemplation and study. The problem I have is that I have to strip down my other homes, well 2 of them, to furnish this big place but I'm making both the suites into apartments for the characters that are losing their homes.

I would love to be able to donate my 2 extra homes to friends. Wouldn't that be great? ZOS, make it so. I already bought them. I should be able to give them away.

You mean like literally every other house in the game? Or did you think the trees that came with other houses didnt count as furnishing items.

As I said in my post, I'm very new to the game, and I assumed that those were stationary items that could not be moved or changed when I saw the preview, because that's the way they looked to me. It's not a major problem because I have ESO plus, but like many others who discuss housing and decorating, I do see the item limits and the barren nature of many of the houses as a problem.
Usually you get what the preview shows and in every unfinished house used to be some plants though - until now. I'm very surprised that they changed it.

I actually read in another thread that ZOS cant gift furnished houses because every piece of furnishing carries a unique item number, or something like that, so that does answer our question as to why the house was not furnished. But it would have been cool if they'd sent out a little package to our inventory containing the few plants that would have been there had the house been purchased unfurnished.

The "free" house was never previewed. Just the unfurnished and furnished Crown Store layouts.

And I don't see it as taking anything away. I see it as a smart move to keep these instances from looking overly familiar and repetitive with the same tree there, same light there. I can't do much to change the architecture but I do like having a blank slate on all the green space.

Oh, well there goes 1/2 my plans for it. I have no interest in the house itself but I was planning to pull the trees and other furnishings out to use in my existing houses and then use it to store spare furniture.

As other people have said "unfurnished" houses usually come with a few furnishings. The apartments just have a light source or two, but those can be nice (I think the Sisters of the Sands apartment had 2 purple quality redguard lanterns) and the bigger houses have a bit more, particularly the ones with outdoor space which usually have some rocks and plants.

When this house was available for preview during the event it had several items I recognised as furnishings - a fireplace, trees and potentially some of the steps which are the same as the ones you can buy in Alinor. It's disappointing if those are gone. I know it's free, but even so for the preview to be different to what you actually get is disappointing.

For what it's worth, the first thing I've always done when getting an "unfurnished" house is to remove all the rocks and random plants included. All it does is add to your furnishing count without adding any real value.

I thought the "clean slate" approach was a good idea. In fact, I wish I could get rid of some of the water lillies and purple flowers.

But all I really want is another small house like the witches cottage. It's got an ideal size to item-limit ratio.

I do not complain because this house is free !!! but i find it a bit stingy to have remove the 3 or 4 trees and some candles that was on the PTS unfurnished version.

The goal was to sell furniture packs. why not ... it proves that nothing is free in life

it's like giving the first dose of crack to sell more afterwards xD

Thank you ZeniMax, I find it a good idea anyway, I'm happy with this house :)
