Should ESO+ give lag free playtime ?

    The original design had a lot of calculations done client side so the server did not have so much work to do. Unfortunately the original architects didn't consider security, and at launch we had bots all over farming delves, teleporting around the map to quests or resources, who knows what in PvP. At that point they quickly pivoted and made a hack change to move all these calculations to the server so clients couldn't cheat. Bam! Immediately the server performance went to garbage and cyro became the unplayable mess that it is today.

    They've never been able to recover from that architectural error, and have given up actually because the current team of offshore devs are too incompetent to make any significant design changes. Publicly this is still an active, growing game, but I assure you that internally this game is EOL. Any effort to redesign would be wasted, they will spend it on the next title.

    Thank you so much for this insight. Makes sense. If they left it as they did, it would be like the peer-to-peer garbage we have with games like GTAV. Further demonstrates the original devs didn’t know a whole lot.

    First rule of client-server software is that you NEVER trust anything the clients send you. Ever. Never ever. So doing calculations of any significance client side was doomed to failure from the beginning.

    This is sad news. And the game is indeed EOL. I didn’t know they used offshore programmers either. :(

    To be honest that's just speculation on my part based on what I've seen. All the evidence points to both being true, though.

    I get it. And I always try to disclaim what I write with that since I've been reported for disinfo before. But I kind of agree with your speculation. :/

    I love watching PC "master race" pity parties! You could just evolve (give up your *** addictions) and buy a PlayStation 4... You do know some GENIUS from Japan design a machine that actually works the way its supposed to right?
