Is Unstable Clannfear useful end game

If running pet Sorc, matriarch and familiar are the better options. More DPS and cheaper group heal. Along with ward shield, you shouldn't have an issue dying.

Clearfear MAY be useful for some solo play options, but not end game group play.

Think it might change if sorc tanks we're more popular?

Healing is 7k magicka. I doubt any tank can afford it.

Either it changes at Rank 4, or they reduced the cost. It's 3243 magicka right now. Here is my clannfear stats:

I'm relatively new to the game, but I can say that when fighting bosses it 's a powerful healing option. It makes possible even to solo some of the WBs.

The tooltip is different when looking at the skill in the skill menu, and when you have it on your bar with a Clannfear summoned. Summoning a Clannfear takes about 3,3k magicka for me as well, but the heal itself costs about 7k

Im pretty sure i read somewhere that they are changing the clannfear's heal to a damage ability. Which will drastically change what builds its used for and when.

For a bulky tank that dosen't spam magic too much, Clannfear can be useful in emergencies buddy for the straight 35% heal or, if you are in a dire position where you are the last person standing, Clannfear MIGHT distract the boss while you can rez team mates, but you shouldn't need to ever have to consider that. A Sorc tank will probably wanna focus their magicka more on lightning form and restraining prison shards.

Also, Summerset will turn the Silver Leash morph into a stamina based pull enemies, which I see being way more useful to slot than Clannfear if that means Sorcs will get the chance to pull foes with a crossbow and then keep them held with the restraining shards.

Clannfear is your emergency buddy that you SHOULDN'T need around if your healer is competent. But is a choice if you have skill slot space to spare.

Oh, my bad. You are right. I've just checked it on the bar and it is indeed 6561 magicka :/

Looks like I should learn to use magic shields and more cost efficient healing methods + I'll switch to and test familiar for damage and survivability in pve.

I like them to remove the Clannfear's Taunt effect so you can use it in group settings without the annoyance of it stealing aggro. Change the activation effect to command the Clannfear to do an AOE Leap attack and Taunt the target. It would be more control over what its attacking, what it gains aggro specifically if you want to pull something away, and be competitive to the exploding Imp on command.

The Clannfear's heals scale off health, while Matriarch's heals (and damage shields) scale off Magicka. If you're a DD or Healer with plenty of Magicka but not much health, other alternatives are better, but if you're a beefy tank with tons of Health but not much Magicka, then the Clannfear is better.

Something I always found odd is that it deals physical damage, but scales with magica, but no magica users ever get use out of champion points for it. It would be more interesting if its attacks scaled with stamina and weapon damage while staying a magica skill. I'd at least try it on stamsorc.
As for how it is now, I do use it on my sorc tank setup, but in high damage situations, where I'd need the heal, it dies, then I die, then I'm sad.

You can't really make use of if you a health tank then you are lacking necssary sustain for it. Let's not forget unlike other four class this simlar skill is double barrd and can die. I not convinced that it's a good skill. In fact maybe worst sorc class skill. At last still listening and hoping to understand.

If you're stacking health on a sorcerer tank, you're better off double slotting Structured Entropy as multiplier, and relying on healer.

So I switched to Familiar + started shielding myself and using Twilight Matriarch for healing. Here is what happened in my case:
    1. Aggro. Twilight Matriarch started aggro the mobs... Familiar doesn't really attract them. Most of the aggro is still on the player.
    2. Familiar. I'm not really impressed with its pulsing even if it's combined with Haunting Prey. It's a bit annoying to keep your eye all the time on whether it is still using using that skill or whether it is still alive at all (it dies relative easy even when shielded when fighting more or less strong WB with a small group). Also it might attack a wrong target and Haunting Prey ability is a waste in that case.
    3. Twilight Matriarch healing + magic shield combination is more effective and cheap than using Clannfear.

As a result I'm leaning towards using only one pet - Twilight Matriarch for now and replace another one with more useful skill. Eventually I think I'll be running without pets at all. Thus I can also change Haunting Prey for Haunting Curse which seem to have better DoT and provides more relaxed battle experience.

TBH I'm looking into using this skill for endgame content. After reading that pets take 0 damage in endgame content once Murkmire comes out, I'm going to try it on my StamSorc. Really looking forward to something that will let me take Bound Armaments off my bar and still keep Daedric Summoning passives (20% Stam & Health Recovery mostly). Additionally, I'm curious to see how the heal compares to Vigor.

What's weird to me is that it deals Physical Damage, yet it scales with max Magicka. Additionally, It scales with Physical Penetration, Weapon Critical, and Mighty. I think the skill should be changed so that the damage scales with Stamina, but still costs Magicka to summon and use the heal.
Add a Scribing skill that works like Arcanist beam.
    ---
Veteran players have been alienated and disengaged from Overland since One Tamriel, due to the lack of difficulty, and pushed into dungeons and trials; the minority of content in the Elder Scrolls Online. We can't take the repetition anymore, fix Overland engagement for Vet players. I don't even care if it's not combat related anymore, just make Overland engaging again.
    ---
Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 10 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. Make a self debuff mythic. Literally anything at this point.

Should of made a new post because this 1 has outdated comments and information. With recent changes it now costs 3423 magicka with the 5% cost reduction passive and no light armor equipped.

First and foremost this is a tank skill used to heal your hp. Although it seems silly that it does physical dmg but scales on max magicka. Changing it to cost stamina would mean tanks couldn't use it efficiently. They use stamina for blocking and taunting.

If anything, it makes no sense that the pet does physical dmg.

Sorry about necroing an old thread, I'll make a new one next time.

Also, I didn't say it should cost stamina, just to have the damage scale with it (I bolded it). I mentioned that more or less because of the statement you made (bolded that too).

I think it would be neat if this skill could be useful for tanks, as it is now, and be useful for the Stam DPS builds as well. I agree that the skill should continue to cost Magicka, but considering it already deals Physical Damage, scales with Weapon Crit, Physical Penetration, and Mighty, it would make sense to have the damage portion scale off of max Stamina.

I know at least 2 sorc tanks that use clannfear, one of them cleared vCR with me the other day and I do dungeons with the other one. You can use the clannfear for dueling / small man pvp builds as well, if you want to be annoying & gimmicky. Other than that, I don't know anyone that uses clannfear for pve end game.

Its definitely designed to be a tank pet. Currently now though its just a clunky worse version of green dragon blood to me.

    For example on my tank:

Green dragon blood - Currently heals for 39% of my missing health. Granted its lower than the clanfear, but also grants various healing buffs and cost 4.2K

I used a clannfear to tank for my bow/bow sorc for a time. He tanks great but a stamsorc just doesn't have the mojo to keep him either shielded or healed. During fights when you really need him, he's just not tough enough without that support from his sorc.

I also run a magsorc with the matriarch. For pure solo work, I also run clannfear. The magsorc has the mojo to keep the little tank fully shielded and healed. Again, clannfear tanks great when purely solo. The moment another player shows up, the boss drops aggro from the clannfear and the matriarch's third heal starts going to any other player instead of the clannfear. So I find the clannfear a very fun solo pet to run with my matriarch but useless when others are around. When others are around, I give the clannfear's double slots to Inner Light.

The burst heal is still decent, but really not worth the two bar slots for the Clannfear.
