You know what? People can sh*ttalk as much as they want about ZoS, but if this really happened, I am almost hundred percent sure that they would give us the house anyways. As a kind gesture.
    You spelled "marketing" wrong.

This thing was planned out, start to finish before it ever got announced.

It ends the way that lets ZoS look the best, and you're eating it up.

Duh! Who doesn't already know this? Yes, it's a marketing event - to sell more copies of SS. We all know this, but so what? They're giving us a pet, mount, and house. Yes, they're also hoping they'll sell some CS furnishings, since the house comes unfurnished, but you can 100% furnish this using in-game gold (as I plan to).

Bottom line: We get a free house, pet, and mount for nothing more than doing the pathfinder achievement. Those who don't have SS yet can buy it on sale and do the achievement, or they can wait until it's over and then buy the game on sale.

Regardless of whether this event is designed to make them look good, it's still a win for players. Just because it's a marketing event, doesn't mean that we can't enjoy it and enjoy the free stuff they're giving us. A large part of the community has come together despite the naysayers who refuse to participate. You'll still get the free stuff even so.

It's so close they'll probably rig it if the actual numbers can't make it to 100%. It would make great publicity for the game in general.

I honestly would have preferred a personal challenge with the same reward tiers and real hard achievements for each tier. This way i feel like i don't really deserve that house. Running around summerset and asking for a portal to Artaeum, twice, isn't the best challange.

I'll obviously take it, but there's no satisfaction in it.

You could have made it more interesting by actually doing the quests to get you to Artaeum. I did that on both NA and XB, on BOTH servers. Sure, it took longer, but starting completely from scratch on the EU servers was fun and a bit of a challenge. No CP, no gold, no crafting bag full of stuff to make food/potions for my new characters. It was certainly satisfying for me to get the achieves on the EU servers. Plus, I got in on a few geysers, too, with my level 5 or so with no CP, crap gear, and whatever food/potions from level-up and the daily reward (the first one for September gave a fortifying meal).

But, this wasn't intended to be a challenge so much as to bring players together and do exactly what you did - either ask for or offer ports to Artaeum and even tours to the rest of the striking locales. Zone chat was abuzz even on Monday night when I finished the achievement on PC EU. It was great to see those offering ports and others asking for ports; players saying thanks for the lift before heading back to NA. That's what makes this event so great - players helping each other to achieve a common goal.

Argh! Their marketing tricks may work on me. I'm now considering purchasing Summerset on a second account I have. With the discounted price, and the event already offering a pet and mount I sorta' can't go wrong.

At first I thought the "give away a house" was really going to be, "give you the 'opportunity' to pay another 15000 crowns to actually buy the house", but then I considered how much this was going to spur the furnishing economy, and how many more people would be willing to spend a smaller bit to buy the furnishing packs than lay down the large amount for a house that size, and realized that it's probably very solidly in their favor to give the house away.

My Black Vine Villa is already getting a bit cramped with all the stuff I've put in it, but I'd barely be able to fill in a couple of the smaller rooms of the Artaeum manor, leaving the rest of the place hollow and empty. Which means I now have to prepare to spend tons of time crafting or buying furniture, which means more time in the game, or greater inclination to just grab one (or more) of the furniture packs.

It started off as "too good to be true", but now it definitely feels more like it will be legit.

I can *kinda* understand that when it comes to the pet and mount... Tamriel will be filled with them for the first few weeks. And after that, the’ll switch to the next “shiny” or switch back to an old favorite. But the house? When would you even notice? It’s not like people are going to be walking around with them on their backs. They’re not going to walking around your house instance decorating in ways you don’t like.
