I don't even play magicka classes and I think the cast time change is the worst. Oh what fun! More cast times.

No I am serious, I should have stated that I do 100% pvp latly tho. Yes, the patch does favor me as I enjoy stamplar and stamblade the most and am annoyed by sorcs to death but I play all other classes too (both mag and stam) and still find this patch very fair and finally adressing some major issues such as shield stacking, cost poisons, bad evations, enchantment procs... For the most part this looks like you can still be OP but you need a lot more skill. Also non proc builds are getting buffed quite a bit.

You understand magicka players are made out of paper right? What do you suppose adding a cast time to shields means for them?
Let me put it in perspective since you play stamina: Would you be hyped if we add a 1 second cast time to dodgerolling?

I play all magicka classes too all in light armor and sofar sorc have been the only class I use shileds on. The shields are actually getting buffed (longer up times, resistances, easy major and minor protection...) for many reasons which I detailed in the sorc pts chat if you are interested(you will have bigger and way strong shields and more space to throw out other skillz). However, it will require different gameplay with them and you will be more punished for making mistakes(which is exactly what most of us want cause right now ltes be honest mag sorcs are annoying af no matter if noob or skill and especially on cheesy pet builds).
I havent played my mag sorc much lately cause I feel like the gameplay is cheep and no fun. Next patch that will change cause you then can kick azz and be actually be proud of it;)

It doesn't matter if shields are up longer, because they will be gone within a split second if someone is dealing damage to you. Nor does it matter that they scale with resistances, because light armor barely has any resistances to begin with. That's why it's light armor, not heavy armor. Get the picture? Not to mention shields are now crittable aswell. With the extremely negligable gain of the light armor resistances, shields will likely melt even faster in PVP.
What different playstyle will it require? Hugging trees and rocks? Because you won't be able to shield up and you won't be able to dodgeroll more than 3 times at best.

As I said I suggest you go to the sorc section where I have explained this in a bit more detail. Really dont wanna typ it all up again.
Btw you can already run powerful mag socrs without shield in current patch if you build em righ, meaning taking an approach similar to ligh armor templars or dks when it comes to gear but working with different tools.
They should consider giving sorcs a heal tho to make this a lil easier for less skilled gamers

I read your post in the sorc feedback section, and every single part of it is countered by what I just posted. Shields are not buffed, and no one is going to build for shields when they take one second to cast.

Oh well, at this point we wii have to wait n see what happens. Im pretty covinced sorcs will still be strong af with or without shield. if its gonna be without that would suck a lil cause shields are class defining. I would have been happy with just making them critable but the way they fixed looks great to me for now too. Worst case go hybrid;)
just wait n see people tend to freak out way to early and lotta times they end up liking the change as soon as they learned how to use it
people complaining about "fast paced combat" in.
in reality they afraid they cannot running a glass cannon playstyle. since most shield user on pvp only care about max magicka and spell damage to get high damage + high defense. it kinda not fair, so dev nerf it, it make sense.
and pve, it is actually get a buff from resistance and more duration, we only need to precast it every 8 sec to get mitigate first damage, so healer is more needed in this game, not just casting 1 spell to survive all situation.
TBH I'm with you and also support almost all changes. Shields have been problematic since launch, because they have been the only defensive mechanic that scales off of offensive stats. New arrangement is perfectly fine, the 1 second cast time takes away easy shield spamming and forces light armor users to use actual defensive mechanics. My magblade was never relying on shields - and I have never played with cloak either! Healing ward remains realtively untouched, and for high res builds its actually getting quite stronger.
Good changes imo
