The fear of losing my preorder bonuses is what is keeping me from canceling and hunting one down somewhere else...sigh...

Guys, I got mine. The explore code is inside, so if you can buy from anywhere just try it.
  • mikeub17_ESO8
I preordered the Imperial Physical edition through Amazon and have been playing using the early access code from Amazon. As of right now, Amazon is showing a delivery date of 4/8, which means I've got 2-3 days of not being able to play.

Now here's where I have a weird option. I have a key code for the regular edition. What happens if I apply the regular edition to my account (which lets me play for those few days after the early key dies) and then apply the Imperial edition key after it arrives? I know that the regular code is gone and I'm wasting that money (I don't care at this point), but will it screw up my account? Early access key, then regular key, then Imperial key...something might go wrong. I want to do if it works...those days are my days to play and are worth it to me.

Wow... I feel for everyone having a problem with this. I ordered from Amazon on Jan 30th and received it a couple hours ago without any issues. A couple days ago it had an estimated delivery date of the 8th but was changed to guaranteed delivery on the 4th yesterday. Now the fact that the launcher somehow borked my install and I'm having to actually use the discs seems pretty insignificant...

I've been using amazon less and less lately. Was my go to online store for years, but I've had numerous problems with them over the past few months. Including scenarios exactly like this. I dont know if their have been some personnel changes, but they have been dropping the ball with communicating what they do and dont have in stock.

I stopped using Amazon when they contracted OnTrac to do the shipping in my area.

Crappy regional carrier that leaves expensive packages in plain sight on the door without even waiting to see if someone is home, or knocking.

At an apartment. Right on the street. Any shmuck could have walked 10 feet from the road and picked up a 200 USD piece of equipment.

I had this same issue with my Amazon order. I'm really hoping ZOS has some comments about this. It looks like it's not only Amazon too... There are posts from other stores about similar problems. That makes me think it has something to do with A) There were a lot fewer canceled pre-orders than were expected by the stores, or B ) The issue is related to the distribution (or distributors) in some way.

    Edited to add:
I forgot to mention that Amazon can't tell me whether or not they will be able fill my order, but they went ahead and charged my account for the price anyway.

Amazon just told me that they might get a shipment next month (ie rep had no idea) and if I canceled that my 5 day code would get revoked. So anyway to buy a 30 day code key while amazon tells me I'm screwed?

    UPDATE:

After the ZOS rep called me, I told him what my issue was. He told me he was escalating the issue to someone who could help me more. He said he wrote a good note, and the fact that it was messed up through Amazon, and the fact that I went ahead and bought the digital imperial edition afterwards. He informed me that I should be able to keep my explorer's pack perks. He also said that anything not delivered should be delivered soon.

um. if I could get a digital imperial edition and get the explorer's pack. that would work. (because I do not think I will be able to get a physical imperial edition anymore)

Is there a direct line to ZOS customer support? Or do you have to submit a ticket and wait for someone to call you?

I don't know about all of you, but I just spoke with Amazon customer support and they told me there is nothing they can do... they blamed Zenimax and I'm inclined to believe them. Zenimax has screwed up a couple of things operationally thus far, so this wouldn't be a first.

I logged on about 12 or 1pm today, saw the email. Went online for amazon and imediately approved the order for a different release date. I then talked to amazon customer support, and zos support.

Amazon blamed ZOS for not sending enough of the copies out, BUT they said this is a common occurance as with new big games like this, these things usually happen, and consoled me and said: the game will come to you, but just not today, next week sometime.

That left me skeptical, and after that i talked to ZOS support. They said its an issue right now, but that it is being fixed. he told me i would receive my game, but maybe not today. He was very re-assuring that my game would come soon, and that i was not duped out of my collectors edition. 10 minutes after, my amazon order changed to: .Preparing for Shipment". Now i have not received an email for the day i will get it, whether i still get it tonight, or not idk, or tomorow. but it changed to Preparing for shipment, so it shows things are being worked out.

He is right. This happens a *lot* with big releases.

I'm in the same boat also. Pre-ordered the physical Imperial edition from Amazon. Was told it would deliver 4/4, then mail today telling me the delivery date is now unknown. Sent mail to Amazon CS, no reply yet. Very frustrated and wanting my edition.

Update: I just received an email from Amazon saying that they refunding my one-day shipping cost (only $5.99), as it won't be here until tomorrow (supposedly).

This was completely unprompted and totally on Amazon...an example of CS done correctly!

I am surprised that there is still no official word in this thread from Zenimax.

I ordered the physical edition from gamestop paid with paypal bill me later
gamestop let the payment authorization expire as it is only good for 28 days from 2/7/14 when I preordered it then they tried today and told me paypal denied payment no kidding idiot got no email of cancellation of my order until after I talked to gamestop customer no service and we don't care about our customers. So now I lose my preorder bonuses and the game itself thanks to stupidity of the distributor of the game seems amazon did much the same. Waiting for email back from both gamestop and zenimax would be a shame if I don't get to play because no one would take the money for the game in a timely manner.

The physical imp edition comes with a "standard edition" code, and then an imp edition "upgrade" code. So if you enter a standard edition code now, you should be able to put in the imp code after you get it.

Well Amazon said to just wait up to a month. So I got a ticket in to see if I can "deposit" 79.99 with and play till/if I get my physical imperial box. So if it never comes I have the game and if it does come I did not pay 180$ to play.
  • bllewsaderub17_ESO
I'm will elfiwolfeub17. I don't mind waiting for whatever reason for the box. However, I'd sure like to be able to play while I wait one way or another. Even if it means a temporary deposit in the form of buying the game and getting a refund on the digital edition when my imperial comes.

Oh, boy. Amazon just offered my a replacement Imperial Edition for my damaged one, but they couldn't tell me when I would receive one, if I ever would. Seems silly to even bring up the idea of a replacement when they can't even fill pre-orders.

Oh boy, So ESO is laying the blame on Amazon. So Amazon just pulled my key out of thin air eh?

No they didn't make it up and the keys were different.

what probably happened is they got a list of 100k early access keys, 50k licenses for the two download types, 25k standard physical copies and 25k imperial physical copies.

well if more then 25 ordered the imperial edition, you can see what is going to happen. they sell the 25 k, put in an order to the distributer to get more and then when their stock is low they send you the email.

so while you may have been the 26001th person to buy, they gave you the early access key because they still had those but are scrambling to find imp. physical copies.

They told me the same at beginning. You should give them another call and make yourself clear, they tend to bullsh*t you a lot if they sense that credulous and soft person. I called them 3 times and only last time I yelled "this game is online, do you understand?! every day is important! Also, I was announced last moment that you don't have the game! WHY is that? etc." the supervisor gave me a monetary compensation and made sure I'd receive the game by tomorrow.

Until today, I used to be a very soft person when it comes to customer service. I would agree with anything and try to understand. But no more! Someone messed up and I am being punished for this?! Put your most manly voice on and demand the game because you paid for it!

Mine has changed to shipped, even though I was told this morning that it'd be June before I got one, and then that they had no idea when or if I'd get one - thus why I was able to convince them to give me a digital code for the Imperial edition. It will now be arriving TOMORROW via UPS, according to the tracking.

This was the result for me after three calls and probably about 2 1/2 hours or so on the phone with Amazon today, including the supervisor of one of their call centers.
  • Chrysalis_ESO
    For anyone still wondering:

The physical Imperial Edition comes with 3 codes in the box. The first code is for activation of the STANDARD game. The second code is for IMPERIAL Edition perks. The third code is for EXPLORER'S Pack perks. This was posted by another user above, and I can confirm it.

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you, but my account still shows "Not Yet Shipped." I called my local GameStop and was lucky enough to find a physical Imperial Edition there. I'll still hold out on Amazon in hopes that they're willing to credit me something for this ridiculous inconvenience.

To those who are still bitter:
    https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started

That's a link to the Better Business Bureau, where you can file a formal complaint. It should be pretty telling that Zenimax, in fact, only has a D+ rating, and is thus NOT ACCREDITED.
