On the other hand, a team of PvE players may have a literally impossible time trying to complete quests / skyshards / etc in Cyrodil / Imp City depending on how many gankers / PvPers are around. They might be outnumbered, or they might be unable to defeat the PvPers due to their gear not being impen or pvp-specific. This assumes the PvPers are actively trying to stop them from completing their content, but this can and does happen.

So again, PvP has a much higher, more demanding barrier to entry than PvE. Saying "well, you just need to put the work in" is unreasonable and puts an unfair burden on PvErs compared to PvPers.

„Well, you just need to put the work in“ is what you’re going to hear if you want to do vTrials and parse 15k DPS. There is nothing unfair about having to meet the criteria for being successful. Everyone has the same chance.

Besides, I doubt a full group of PvE players will face any problems in a low pop campaign if they merely want the PvE stuff.

But aren't most of the PvE sets that are in the PvP meta just from dungeons / overworld / crafted? Is there even a single trial set that's considered "good" for PvP? They mostly have minor slayer / defensive monster buff on them, which is worthless for PvP.

If there really are a bunch of bunch of trial sets that are desired for pvp (would be news to me), then I can understand not being able to get 12 players together. That is an argument against what I'm saying, albeit a weak one. But as for vet trials, most PvE players can't do enough dps either, so that's a moot point. It really just comes down to having to field a team for a normal trial, which admittedly might be tougher for PvPers.

    This right here?

This is highly desirable in PVP. Good luck getting a perfected Asylum 2H sword with 15k DPS in impen gear and PVP morphs. ;)

    Same thing with this:

PVPers have to PVE if they want to be the best they can be. PVEers have to go into Cyrodiil if they want all skyshards/dyes/quests completed. PVEers don't get to have everything by sticking to their preferred game mode, and the same goes for PVPers.

It's almost, you know, like the developers wanted players to engage in all aspects of the game.

Perfected is a bad example because most PvE players can't do VAS either, but if that particular weapon is desirable in pvp, then I guess there is one example of a trial item that's good for PvP.

The master items are from vDSA though, which is a 4 man. Never done it myself, but I've heard it's pretty easy, albeit time consuming. A random group of 4 experienced pvpers could complete it no problem.

Pointing at gear is a strawman. PvE players don’t go to Cyrodiil for the awesome gear either. It’s about achievements and utility (skysgards/skills). And there the situation is exactly identical.

But (most) PvPers don't really care about achievements or skyshards to begin with, as long as they've got enough skill points for their builds right? Different priorities with their game and all that.

PvPers care about gear mostly because that's what feeds into their builds, and PvErs mostly care about gear as well but also care about skyshards for stuff like crafting skill lines and multi role setups.

So each side has something they need to go into the other's content for, but for PvErs it's a more difficult prospect because of the nature of PvP and how it's against real people trying to kill you with optimized equipment instead of enemies that are often balanced around being technically beatable by minimal gear and skill.

I'm well aware that vDSA is a 4-man arena. My point is that PVPers need to PVE if they want the best gear -- and that includes participating in trials and tougher 4-man veteran content like DSA (which is going to require more than 15k DPS to complete smoothly). There are very few sets that can be acquired through AP or tel var that are worth using. To grind for gear efficiently as a PVPer, you need to throw on PVE gear. Why can't PVEers throw on PVP gear when they quest and hunt skyshards in Cyrodiil? Seriously: 5 Fortified Brass, 5 Impregnable, 2 Chudan. All impen, 5 heavy, one light, one medium. NO GANKER is going to kill you -- especially not one that's SO bad it has to rely on picking off PVEers to get kills.

Clearly you’re misinformed. Gankers will still go after you, regardless of what you’re doing, or what you’re wearing. Apparently riding a horse down the main road gets you ganked!

That's what gankers do. They try to gank you. Do you have any idea how many times I've been sniped off my horse, especially one that's still levelling up it's stamina? Do you have any idea how little I care when I get sniped? If gankers can't kill you because you're using an extremely tanky build, then you've won. If you go into a war zone wearing the equivalent of your underwear (i.e. divines light gear), then yeah, you're going to die to gankers.

NO GANKER is going to kill you -- especially not one that's SO bad it has to rely on picking off PVEers to get kills.

But PvPers already have that gear because they need it for their intended content. PvErs have to go out and get / upgrade / enchant an entirely new gear set, just to safely traverse a zone they don't want any part of to begin with. it's just silly.

You can run PvE in ANY gear and succeed for the most part in normal mode (and most vanilla veteran dungeons / some trials), but you MUST wear PvP gear to succeed in PvP.

And even if we were willing to put in objectively more time and effort than PvPers do, the setup you described will make you very tanky, but how are you going to grab a skyshard when there's somebody engaging you combat and you can't kill them because you do 10 damage with all that tank gear on? It's not a good solution, just a bad Band-Aid.

To frame my argument in a different way, there's no "normal mode cyrodil" I can walk into where all my opponents have been taking horse tranquilizers or huffing glue and I can breeze my way through them and into the skyshards / delves / quests etc. But there's certainly normal mode dungeons and veteran vanilla dungeons, where pvpers can breeze through the content and get the vast majority of what they need.

And I get it, there's a significant amount of stuff that's "out of reach" for both parties. But if we exclude vet trials from the argument (again, most PvE players can't do them either), there's a lot of PvE content in cyrodil vs. like what, Zaan helm and the AS 2hander? Am I missing anything that can't just be facerolled to obtain and is popular with / useful to PvPers?

This thread will likely end up where most threads similar to it end up: In the "poo-poo palace"!

A dedicated Cyrodiil for PvE players will never happen.
A dedicated IC for PvE players will never happen.
Alliance War Skills will never be handed to PvE players.
Undaunted Skills will never be handed to PvP players.
Trial gear will never appear in The Golden.

If you want something specific involving any of the above, work for it.

To the point above about ZOS' point of view, I'm sure this is how they're thinking, yes. However, I've played a few MMOs in my day. And of all of those MMOs, do you know what the most successful one was? WoW.

You know what WoW didn't do? Force PvPers to do PvE content, or vice-versa. That might have changed since I left, but that was the case when I was playing.

They were smart enough to almost completely separate PvP from PvE, and PvP gear had special stats that made it much more potent against players, but weaker against monsters. BiS for PvP was all PvP gear, and BiS for PvE was all PvE gear. It worked.

Rift tried to force PvPers to PvE and vice versa like ESO does, and ESO is a more successful game but it still doesn't hold a candle to WoW in its heyday. I'm just wondering when these newer developers will come to realize that making players do content they don't enjoy in the hopes that their increased playtimes in the short term lead to better retention in the long term is a failed notion.

The vast, vast majority of gamers have stuff they like, that they've learned they like it from all the games they've played before. There are exceptions to every rule, but I am 100% certain that these games are losing far more than they're gaining by trying to force everyone into all content.

Better yet, just create a campaign that has only PvE, so friends can play together across factions.

Oh wait that gives PvPers less carebears to trump, it won't ever happen because we can't upset the PvP masterrace.

so all of tamriel except for cyrodil...

Threads like this for Cyrodil and IC are getting ridiculous. The pvp risk is part of the challenge of doing quests in cyrodil zones and accessing the skyshards there. Not everything needs to be handed to you on a silver platter, if you can't do it yourself, get some friends to do it or wait until you see your alliance is pressuring that part of the map. The entire mentality that ZoS needs to make things easier for you because you can't be bothered to work to get your 300th skyshard, or get competent enough to defend yourself against the 1 other person you might run into while questing is downright pathetic.

There are probably tens of thousands of people who did all the PvE content in Cyrodill when the game was still in it's haydays. That means that Cyrodill was packed with people scattered all over the map. NONE of those people complained back then.

Now the most of the campaigns are dead, and people playing PvP are limited on the map as they are travelling from keep to keep or run in between keeps. Yes, they might be in a town. But i fail to see how PvE can now be difficult in Cyrodill.

My alt lvl 22, a warden with green armor just runs around on Shor or Vivec getting Skyshards and so far i only need 2 more which are behing the gates. The others i did without even encountering a single other player. So far i solo'd 3 dolmens without any other player showing up and i cleared most of the delves in enemy territory and did some repeatable town quests.

Really man, i just fail to see the problem. If people did it when Cyrodill was packed without problems , how can people not do it now. There are hardly any people near PvE content. Perhaps in IC, but thats PvP content with some added PvE to make people come together and clash in epic battles. And just don't go there DURING AN EVENT.

They aren't "making" or "forcing" players do anything. They give you the OPTION to do that content. If you can't be bothered to adapt to the needs of that content, don't go into it.

ESO is nowhere near rift as the majority of the map is exclusively pve, where as RIFT made the open world pvp, and even then that was if you selected one of those servers. You have to actively CHOOSE to go into the pvp zone in ESO to even remotely worry about pvp. If you want something that is in that zone, you have to adapt to that zone just as PvPers have to adapt to PvE if they want gear/items from that content. Hopefully ESO never caters to these "give me please" crybabies. It's a game, not a gift dispenser, work for what you want or don't get it.

See, this is what I've been saying. You don't have to do PVP much at all to do the content. I've done everything in Cyrodiil and most stuff in IC and I'm NOT a PVP'er. You just have to be more cautious. Stay away from where the fighting is (the map shows the fighting). Stay off the main roads when possible. Sneak when approaching towns or keeps or resources. Run like hell when necessary. I've only been killed 4 times doing the so-called PVE stuff.......twice while fishing with 6 different characters and twice in delves. That's not bad for completing everything. :)

Yeah. As long I knew ahead of time where that was going to be so I could avoid it entirely for the week.

This thread is hilarious. You present a logical counter to the laughable claims PvErs make and they throw a fit and start raging harder then the Hulk while claiming that you're "toxic".

There are enough skyshards outside of Cyro to get all the skill points you need for your class and armour skill lines, crafting, mage's/fighter's/undaunted etc. and when I brought this up of course they refused to acknowledge it because it showed just how ridiculous one part of their statement is.

Achievements are useless, yet again another point they refuse to acknowledge since it doesn't fit their narrative.

They cry about having to get AP for Warhorn, Panacea, Purge etc. yet refuse to acknowledge when myself and multiple others pointed out to them that not only do you get a bunch of AP (takes you like halfway to level three) from doing the quest when you first enter (said quest that has exactly 0% chance of you having to fight another player), you get it as part of the daily rewards and can easily and quickly get enough by just repairing (which if you're smart about has an extremely minimal chance of you having to engage in combat with another player). I'm still waiting for one of them to man up and answer my question as to what the equivalent is for Undaunted (there isn't one yet every time someone suggests making Undaunted easier to level they oppose it).

What is the most sad of all of this if that if you were to join their PvE group while being completely unprepared (no clue what you're doing while wearing trash gear and having the wrong skills) they'd bash you to no end and kick you yet feel that not only should they be allowed to show up to a PvP area unprepared but that the area should be changed to suit them so they can frolic in the meadows without a care in the world.

The only "toxic" people I see are the people who are too terrified to have to engage an opponent that actually has a brain so they would rather rage and whine on the forums and throw a tantrum at anyone who doesn't mindlessly support their ridiculous points of view.
Unless you are willing to be a mindless sycophant and/or coddle others due to their insecurities prepare to be harrased by the Orwellian enforcers on these forums. You should also try to refrain from using any words more complex than those used by a small child due to the fact that said enforcers have made it clear that their vocabulary pool is aenemic.

Then how about you just never go there that way we wouldn't have to read the drivel you people keep polluting these forums with. If you people put half the effort you spend crying and whining on these forums into trying to improve in pvp you'd actually be ok, I guess it's easier to throw tantrums and demand to be catered to than making any sort of change yourself (yet you somehow have the nerve to call PvPers entitled when virtually the entirety of the game is catered to you).

Because Cyrodiil, overpriviliged PvP mastermind, is also a PvE zone, and PvE players have just as much right, if not more, to set foot there and do quests there.

You just don't bloody get it, now do you? PvE players consider PvP to be one of, if not the, most boring elements in ESO. Hence why we PvE and not PvP, and hence why we want to be seperated from the toxic PvP community.

Why would I have to be good at PvP in order to do PvE?

Your calling PvP players toxic? bwahahahahahaha!

You want to tell me they aren't?

No I want to point out your toxic post.
Look if you are afraid or nervous to PvP I understand, but that is no reason to insult or paint all PvP players as toxic which isn't even the case. Yes I am telling you they all aren't. FACT.

I PvP myself, the big difference being that I'm not a ''PvP pro'' who goes out of his way to hunt down people who don't want to PvP, unlike a very large part of the PvP community.

And yes, it is toxic how the PvP community behaves. Forcing everyone into PvP because you do not want them to do what they want to do is literally the most selfish thing is the world.

I also recommend looking up the definition of the word ''fact''.

Since you are on about facts, the PvP players force no one into PvP the game designers did.
And I know of no one who purposely chase down PvE players who don't want to PvP they are not worth the AP for the time to head to those out of the way quest areas.

Also, most of us in Cyrodiil have a "kill first, ask questions later" reaction to seeing the enemy. That "innocent" PVEer hanging around near Vlastarus might be scouting for the zerg. If it's in divines gear with a PVE CP setup and I dish out my burst rotation, it's going to be dead long before I realize "oh shoot, that's a PVE player in divines."

This, again, is why I encourage people who don't like to PVP to go into Cyrodiil with cheap, defensive gear that you use solely for questing. If you have high mitigation, high crit resistance, and enough healing to keep yourself alive without dealing any damage to me, I'm going to leave you alone because you'll look like a troll tank and I won't want to waste my time.

You definitely don't sound like you PvP much because the community is not toxic. But it sounds like you are calling people that kill questers toxic? If so, you're incorrect, killing someone in a PvP zone is called playing the game. Like Tequila mentioned, most (and a I mean a vast majority) don't give a rat's backside about the questers. Everyone's too busy taking scrolls, defending and taking keeps etc...

Of course you're going to have a few bad apples but how is that any different than elitist trial runners. Shoot I did a normal dungeon the other day and the rest of the group wanted to kick him because they were a low level. Didn't even give them a chance when they died at the first boss.

Recently we've had to remove a few posts for baiting and flaming, both being against the Forum Rules. For further posts please be sure to stay constructive and respectful to avoid action on one's own account.

    Thank you for understanding.

Wish people could be respectful, but apparently every time a good suggestion is made for this, the PvP masterrace has to come and flame on everyone why PvP is a godsend while being so closed minded to those with actually decent, factual, and helpful suggestions to the OP’s message and Cyrodiil itself.

Yup. You're are the paragon of logic - "you can't enjoy this portion of the game because its useless to me".

Because why would anybody care about an in-game system that unlocks cosmetics, titles and colours etc. right? They're "useless" vanity, so why would anybody ever want that??? Smh... no logic at all really. Just because you quantify something as "useless" doesn't mean it can't impact the game experience for others. I must have missed the point in ESO's history where the only useful was what progressed your combat abilities.

By the way - I stand on neither side of this argument, I couldn't care less either way as a PVE player who went into cyrodiil for weeks to get all this done. I didn't like it much, but I did it.

But what you're spewing isn't "logical" .... it's unsubstantiated hyperbole.

You don’t think that I get that? That thousands of others get that? I know that Zos intended it to be like that but honestly it was a poor effort to mix both in this space without the choice to do PvP or PvE without the other interfering.

PvP is extremely boring to me, and since I already have the achievement for killing daddy Bal down in the sewers, I’m never going back. All I have to do is wait for a Soul-Shriven skin to be sold.

I know it'll never, ever happen for financial reasons - but what would be cool is if ZOS developed all new megasevers so that:

-All of Tamriel is PVE on 2 megaservers (Basically what we have now, just with PVE cyrodiil)
-All of Tamriel is PVPVE on 2 megaservers (with campaigns running within the Cyrodiil portion of this)

That would be interesting for both PVP and PVE players. It might not help with the skill ines for Alliance War and Undaunted - but it would open up new possibilities to both the playerbases. The reason I say PVPVE for the second one is because obviously the rest of Tamriel is designed for PVE, they would have to retain some elements of it for quests, just as they do in Cyrodiil currently, but they could drastically thin out overland mobs as they do in Cyrodiil as well, making it more PVP oriented.

No more counter arguments about having to play PVE to get the skyshards, no more complaints about having to play PVP to explore Cyrodiil and do the quests/skyshards there.

    A player can dream...

No, they really don't force anyone.

In fact PvE players get off pretty easy because on the builds you might need any PvP skills, it's really fast to get them...when PvE has quite a bit of skills and gear that a PvP player would need

Did you mean to quote me? I PVP more than I PVE. :) And I don't think the community is toxic at all -- in fact, I've encountered far more toxicity in PVE than PVP. I kill or try to kill any player I come across from point A to point B; I don't stop to figure out if it's a quester or not.

No sorry, when I'm busy at work, I need to pay more attention to my posts lol

I wasn't referring to the PvP server. It was after most of the playerbase had quit so I won't blame you for not knowing, but a few years ago they implemented a system where you got raid currency for completing weekly quests, and several of those weeklies are for PvP content. It's very difficult to hit your weekly caps without doing these PvP weeklies.

Trion was very transparent in their attempt to get PvE players to PvP, even if they didn't necessarily want to. I'm not saying it's why the game has faded from low pop to almost no pop, but it's certainly a contributing factor.

    Hello everyone,

Recently we've had to remove a few posts for baiting and flaming, both being against the Forum Rules. For further posts please be sure to stay constructive and respectful to avoid action on one's own account.

    Thank you for understanding.

Wish people could be respectful, but apparently every time a good suggestion is made for this, the PvP masterrace has to come and flame on everyone why PvP is a godsend while being so closed minded to those with actually decent, factual, and helpful suggestions to the OP’s message and Cyrodiil itself.

Why exactly does Cyrodiil need to be PvE only exactly? You're kinda high-horsing everyone for no reason because you feel you deserve something that you don't.

It's PvE in a PvP zone. Get over it. Plenty of other people did and finished their stuff

Did I say PvE only? No, so stop shoving false words into people’s mouths.

"It’s PvE in a PvP zone"
You don’t think that I get that? That thousands of others get that? I know that Zos intended it to be like that but honestly it was a poor effort to mix both in this space without the choice to do PvP or PvE without the other interfering.

PvP is extremely boring to me, and since I already have the achievement for killing daddy Bal down in the sewers, I’m never going back. All I have to do is wait for a Soul-Shriven skin to be sold.

Good for you. You hate PvP. Then don't do it. No one has to, everyone just acts like they're forced to

Basically because the PvP community does force people when they say: do PvP to get gud!

Do you mean that we PVPers say "The only way to do well at PVE in a PVP zone is to prepare for and practice PVP"?

Because, yeah, we do say that. I understand that it must seem really frustrating to hear what's basically "Wanna do this PVE thing? Get good at PVP! Here's how I did it."

But as I explained on one thread or another where we had this conversation, there's nothing else we can say that will help. People are going to gank PVEers, we know this Because we deal with gankers all the time, and the best advice we can offer is how you too can better prepare for the inevitable PVP.

However, there is an excellent reference I don't think I mentioned. Joy_Division's guide to Midyear Mayhem is one of the best guides out there, and its specifically aimed at PVEers dipping their toes into PVP for event rewards. It really has everything I wish I knew when I started PVP. Its really perfect for anyone looking to prepare for PVP, even if they usually do PVE. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/360956/joy-s-advice-for-midyear-mayhem-event/p1

I can't be the only one who sees the irony in this post, it is truly amazing just how deluded these PvErs are. Go ahead and take a look back through the thread and you'll see the ones who started in with the flaming were the PvE crowd (one of you even said I should go play another game, haven't seen any PvPer tell you guys to find another game to play yet you claim we're the "toxic" ones) but of course now they want to play the victim card while still throwing out insults.

There are exactly two PvP areas in the game, if you don't like PvP then stay out of them. You don't see us PvPers starting threads asking for open world PvP do you? Yet not only do you PvErs constantly ask for changes to turn the game into carebearland you completely refuse to see any else's point of view, you're not here for a discussion you're here to pollute the forums with textual Ebola.

To be entirely fair, yes, I do see the occasional thread asking for open world PVP. Generally as part of a bounty hunter/justice system addition.

To which everyone points out the valid reasons why ZOS scrapped that mechanic. Same way anyone trying to seriously asking for open world PVP everywhere gets shredded (most are just trolling or asking hypothetically).

I'm a PVPer. I love Cyrodiil. But I wouldn't want open world PVP everywhere. For one, I like Cyrodiil for its objective play. And if I wanted the threat of sudden PVP in the middle of my PVE, I'd go quest and farm in Cyrodiil and Imperial City.

Because if PVP is enabled, the whole darn zone turns into a PVP zone. It can happen anytime. I like having the option to have sudden PVP the middle of my PVE by going to Cyrodiil and Imperial City. I also like having PVE only zones where I only have to ignore the people dueling around the Undaunted camps.
