Would you consider this change to staves

I love both healing and lightening staves, they have the attached beam that makes me feel like I'm connecting with my targets ice and flame staves feel empty ... It like winding up for a big punch but it always feels a little weak I know it's not I know they hit hard, sometimes harder, but the feed back on the controller isn't as good

So I was wondering what people would think about giving the flame and ice staves the link lightening has so you can feel the power build and then unleash, the visual would show a flame or ice ball grow at the front of the staff with a small connected line to the enemy and when you let go it travels that line to the target, if it lasts the whole duration it triggers automatically.

I feel it needs something to fill that dead space and time

having fire staves be a flamethrower during heavies would be pretty cool rofl

This idea is cool but I would also be satisfied if charging up heavy attack didn't take forever to do so on staves while getting stuck in the anim while weaving.

I agree. I prefer the lightning & resto heavies over the fire heavy attack and would be happy to see the flame staff work like the lightning/resto.

(The ice heavy is worthless - the taunt is too slow for a tank, while rendering the staff useless to a dps.)

I do think heavy attacks should have beam-like qualities while light attacks retain the ball form attack. I dislike the flame/ice heavy.

The fire staff will give you an 8% increase to direct damage if you have a destro skill slotted.

If you change it to a channel then its own heavy attack will lose the benefit it gets from its own bonus.

I don't see why ice staff cant be changed though.

Making them all a channel would be awesome

I do agree that the Lightning and Resto staves feel nicer to heavy attack with, I feel like I am getting some punch, where's inferno and frost don't feel like a "heavy attack"

I love the idea of them all being beams of various kinds.

Couldn't we just rebalance that though?

Problem is I can charge up a heavy and it hits the wrong target, especially in PvP I'd like to see a small attachment that holds your target

A ball flame then grows at the end of the staff and when it reaches max it runs down the beam hitting the target ...

8% increase would be added to the size of the fireball you create so a full heavy attack does X damage a light attack does A and the charged rate does b through to z

Similar to the lightening staff only with an 8% increase to the target, no splash damage

It's just that dead empty space and little to no controller feed back makes both the frost and the flame (which is the most powerful) feel week and pathetic

Fire staff buffs single-target attacks, not direct damage attacks.

I really wish they'd switch flame and lightning to make flame use a channeled "flamethrower" heavy attack and make lightning use a charged burst. Then change the Ancient Knowledge passive to give flame +8% to DOT and lightning +8% to direct burst damage (instead of single target vs AOE). These changes would lead to a much more intuitive magic system. This makes more sense than the current system, which is counter-intuitive. In reality, flames spread and burn over time, so the logic of making flame do less AOE damage is questionable whereas doing more DOT damage is sensible. And electricity usually bursts through one victim, so a bonus to AOE makes very little since whereas a burst bonus is very sensible. Of course electricity can jump between people, and this is very effectively simulated by the bonus to burst damage on abilities that deal a burst of splash damage.
