Would you get into Housing if you could openly PvP in them without the need for a duel?

They would need to work on the programming for housing for this to be implemented. Currently AOE's don't trigger on player placed objects (flooring for example).

Sounds like a good idea. Make it a toggle and make the home entry area a "safe zone" (like in IC) so guests will know it's on.

Was just coming to say this... I made a dualing arena in my house and included floating stone slabs to add a third dimension to the fight. I love how it turned out, but was really disappointed when I realized AOEs wouldn’t even go off.

I really like the idea, though. Keep it non-competitive (no AP, no achievements, etc.) and it would give a lot of people and guilds a way to test out strategy and build combinations in a controlled environment. Make combat opt-in only and allow for non-combatants to watch from the sidelines.

so like what swtor just implemented recently? personaly, not interested, wouldn't use it, etc etc. if it were toggleable feature that only someone with decorator privileges would turn on and off? sure whatever, more options for people who want them is nice. as long as they stay OPTIONAL and at the discretion of a house owner/decorator.

It is not going to be added because Zos has made clear they do not want to deal with an opt out system for PvP and what OP suggests would be open to griefing. The toggle would need to be on the player side regardless and that is what Zos chose to not deal with.

They sort of already do that when you choose to enter a pvp campaign through the "L" option. The coding would be almost cookie cutter.

Since it seems I wasn’t very clear to start with, no one would know if your home had PvP turned on or not. Zos made it clear the don’t want a dual system.

I’m nit arguing for or against anyone the idea just merely stating why this will never happen as OP wants it. Simple as that.

Edit. Oh. And they want players to pvp I’m the actual PvP programs. That much should be obvious. They have zero incentive to expand dueling which is essentially what this thread is asking for. Again, can care less and just stating the reasons Zos will not entertain the idea and considering OP hasn’t given a compelling reason for Zos to give this idea some thought then they certainly will not.

I don't PvP, but I do loooove housing. That said, I would probably enjoy this form of PvP, where it's a limited map that I've created, but is a free-for-all of the people in the house (as opposed to an arena-style duel, which I don't find interesting).

That's a vase from the Ming Dynasty, and it's a family heirloom.

Now, if there was a way to alert me when someone is in my house and allow me to trap them there while I remotely summon some immortal town guards to dispose of the trespasser, then I'd say "take my money, ZOS!"

I agree. Not falling through a player-placed floor after being hit by a Javelin or Dragon Leap, and being able to see ground-based effects, would help tremendously with PvP in Housing.

the other players in the house are usually ppl who need something crafted, or something traded, or they are there for a dummy dps parse.
it would be troublesome if they all automatically appear as attackable targets.

I have to agree that open pvp in housing would be an awesome idea if implemented correctly.
If the house owner could designate "safe zones" and "combat zones", then I see no real possibility for issues to arise.
I would also add that in this hypothetical "housing open pvp system", there should be no benefits nor malus for pvp either. So no equipment losing durability or anything of the such. However, if you use a consumable item, then obviously it would be gone.

I'm not really into PvP'ing, but I'm into Housing, and if this were a feature, it'd be nice to see the arenas and pistes people came up with. It sounds like it would be great for PvP community events as well.

I'm already building a duelling arena or 3 on the Coldharbour Estate, I kinda made it HUGE so having just 2 people duelling looks real odd, and very overkill. If we could make 3 v 3 team I would absolutely actually finish off the arenas :p ...Instead of keep putting off doing the finishing touches.
Something like this would give housing a whole new market too, one that ZOS absolutely could benefit from financially.
    it's a win-win situation.

I like this idea, who doesn't want more features in an already great game? But, there is something that should really be addressed first. Currently none of the furniture in ESO's housing have spell/ability collision.

What this means is that any ability with a Target of "Ground" or "Area", such as Caltrops or Wall of Elements, simply falls through any furniture item.

I can't imagine many of us would be too thrilled to limit the fighting to the environment's floor when we can construct and erect crazy structures from Alinor Floors, Timeworn or Rough Planks, Wide. Currently, though, any duelist or combatant using abilities like Combat Prayer, Liquid Lightning, Elemental Rage, Time Stop, Volley, or the like on these structures are rendered useless.

For those who have never tried this, set up a Rough Planks, Wide in mid-air. Stand on top of it, cast any of the abilities listed above, and see what happens. You will see it fall straight through the furniture on the ground below or simply get an error message that says, "Invalid target location".

How about more housing slots, increase "Special Items" and a reasonable fact simile of real guild halls first?
Then yea, that would be cool...

I feel like an opt-in at the time of arriving to the house, similar to accepting a Trial or Dungeon quest that has already been started when you port in, could solve this issue. Today, you are shown a prompt offering to accept the quest - or in this case, to accept to join the house's PvP - that lingers for up to 20 seconds. If you accept, great. If you decline, or if it expires, you would then need to port out and port back in to join PvP at that point (or just remain opted out and avoid being bothered by the mayhem). =P

If a setting could be toggled by the owner of a House that allowed players to attack each other without the need for a duel request, allowing for open PvP, 1vX scenarios, Team scenarios, King of the Hill and other game types left to your imagination... would you be willing to buy a House - maybe even make it look decent?

P.S. If this were to be implemented, I already have a good chunk of the code written for a FortNiteish type of add-on that would be thoroughly sick. Just saying...

P.P.S. I need to fully credit this idea to @CaineCarver !

I don't want to get openly attacked in my guildhall while I'm trying to craft. I'm not against duels between 2 teams in the courtyard though. That would be a reason to buy a bigger space if you could team duel. Someone mentioned that idea here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/426175/so-still-no-guildhall-functionality
